6 Unconventional Ways to Decorate Your Easter Eggs That You Haven’t Thought Of

The chocolate eggs that adorn the supermarket shelves are delicious reminders that Easter is arriving. They’ve got crème eggs, colourful eggs, mini eggs, and eggs wrapped in gold foil. Besides getting to eat all of them, another fun part about Easter is that we get to spruce up our homes with all the cute frills and trimmings.
Whether it’s for your own house or gifts for your friends, embellished eggs are an important element of Easter. So before you whip out your paint and paintbrushes, here are 6 creative ways to decorate your eggs that will have your guests wishing they thought of first.
1. Bunny eggs
What better way to dress up your egg than with the other vital feature of Easter – A bunny! This requires minimum effort as well. Simply glue a mini pink pom-pom on a white-shelled egg, and draw on its eyes and ears with a black marker.
Cut out long oval shapes from hard white paper and paste them onto the top to create the bunny’s ears.
2. Elegant Eggs
Since nature is a big part of spring, we thought this idea of tying little pieces of flowers to eggs is really apt. Pick pastel coloured plants like violet or forsythia, and remember to use twine to tie them up to give the egg a rustic feel.
3. Plant-Your-Own Eggs

4. Naturally Dyed Eggs
If you rummage through your kitchen cabinets enough, you’d be able to find things to dye your eggs with. Not only is it inexpensive, the natural dyes create nice, faint colours that are perfect as table decorations for Easter.
Use fruits and vegetables of various colours for this project, and put them individually into 2 cups of water with 1 tsp of salt and boil for 10-15 minutes. Strain the water and add 1 tbsp of white vinegar to each of them and let the mixtures cool.
Lower your hard-boiled eggs into each dye, and there you have it! Blogger Leigh Anne suggests leaving the eggs in for 5 minutes to achieve the soft hues.
5. Ombré Eggs
Ombré has been a growing trend in the past few years, and people have gone from dyeing their hair, to clothes, to cakes (and now eggs!) in this theme. You’d never guess that a lazy susan is the key to getting this gorgeous design.
A good thing about the shape of an egg is that its natural curve helps to block out some of the spray paint, which makes it easier to obtain that ombré look. This tutorial will show you exactly how it’s done!
6. Surprise Eggs
Like little piñatas, these eggs come with sweet surprises, and are bound to be a hit with the kids. This is the most time-consuming of the lot because you’ll need to let the dyed eggs dry overnight, but just look at how beautiful they are!
