I was at IMM today and went to Mr Decor for sofa shopping. Apparently I felt the quality of the sofa wasn't impressive and the price doesn't justify too (although the staff claimed to have absorbed GST, delivery charge and special discount). And in the end, I got a sofa from another shop after much consideration.
I think it's a good time to buy furniture since it's GSS period, but it will end sooooonnnn.. so hurry!

The shops in IMM are kinda ex and overpriced.
I bought my marble table at 1k from a small shop in Teck Whye. IMM sold at $1.5 K after discounts.

Anyway, she was sold by the "gurantee" and made the order on impulse. Second day, she decided to cancel the order due to unforseen reason and she was advised she could do so under "fair trading act" (http://www.business....rProtection.htm) that clearly applies to all biz (registered or not). But the same manager who was super nice the day before turn unreasonable and claimed that they are not subjected to fair trading act! He even challenge us to file with CASE!!

Is it the round marble dining table with 4 chairs? The salesgirl quote us $1399 before gst, include 4chairs & the round roller plate. Promotion till end of the month.
Anyway, some of the furnishings in Mr Decor could be found at Sungei Kadut. I got my white bed frame from this furniture shop opp IFC at Sungei Kadut at a much lower price than Mr Decor.......

ha.. I bought the dining table rect one, i think it's the same one what you have seen.... yeah, price $1499... with 4 chairs... selected the cushion based chair.. I think the sales girl is quite good la... Petsy.. it's permanent part time one weekend only..
I also bought a sofa... which can extend to L shape... in fact, all seats can be extended, pretty cool...
It is very hard to compare the prices with other shops unless it is same items, (which almost impossible), so, it would be the best if you first like the furniture itself....
i made the purchase yesterday night at 9.30 pm while they were on the way closing the shop..

Hello.
We bought a Sofa set from them about 6 mths ago. The pricing was reasonable. But the after sales were really poor. Managers behave like sales staffs. They push customers around, reluctant to service accounts and the office staffs lacked the skill in passing messages to their heads. Manager was supposed to arrange for someone to be at my place to see the spoiled sofa. The person did call to arrange for a viewing time but did not turn up as promised nor did he call to apologize for not turning up. Office and managers did not call too. I called the service guy who failed to turn up but he said he had already resigned and he was sorry about it. The most shocking thing was that the Manager and Assistant Manager (or so they called themselves) did not know that the servicing guy had resigned. I scolded the Manager for being irresponsible and he hung up my call just as i was still speaking.
Enough of my story, there's still more to it. But PLEASE DO NOT purchase anything from them because they merely sell. NO servicing at all. And their MANAGERS AND ASSISTANT MANAGERS can't help you solve any problem nor are they skilled at PEOPLE RELATION.
Staff turn over rates are high too. So don't expect the same person to be always serving your account.

Very very fed up with the overall experience....
Salesman boasted he is with another company for many years before being bought over... of how he wanted to clear stock before Ghost festival and that he would offer great discount for the TV console item. We shopped around at IMM shop and find that the one in Mr Decor suit us best. Initial service was good, gave us advise, allowed us "breatheing space" to walk around and discuss our options.
Then finally we signed up, paid up full, and chose a date which he say "No problem, can commit"
Guess what? Later he called to say date cannot commit because stock is not available in the warehouse!!! Can only deliver one month later! Then he refered to his manager Alvin who forcefully gave us 2 option (they would email us a similar model but slightly different design or just simply do 100% refund!(it sounded to me like we can afford not to do your business!))
Then we took a look at the alternative model, we thought it is ok, although we have our reservations about the product(picture is still picture), but we still commited as we just want a console that we can use asap.
Of course, the usual verbal confirmation, can deliver next day afternoon....
Then those delivery people make nonsense remarks...oh have yet to have lunch.... cannot load our furniture because the drawer painting not ready yet? What!?! Called the service guy, and he assure it is ok....
Delivery arrived....and I got a shock!
Picture and real item is different! The drawer is done with lousy workmenship, still can smell the spray paint and you know they assembled it last minute! drawer handle is sharp, and not fixed properly, scratch marks inside.....
But we were tired of the whole **** episode, we just wanted something, and from afar, the furniture still looks presentable.... but we told ourselves....NEVER ... NEVER EVER buy from this shop (mr decor of Beng Hwa group) or shops ... and DO HOMEWORK by browsing forums soliciting remarks from different people about furniture shops.
SIMPLY IRRITATED.

MR DECO's so-called Assistant Manager, Sam, unwillingly followed us back to our home to see the sofa. See, we had to "INVITE" them over at the end of the day. We still had to wait till he was free when there was no customer at all! He's staff came along too.
Sam looked at the sofa, he obviously was clueless what was wrong with his sofa. Anyhow, he told my mother that we have MISUSED the sofa and that we've sat on the wrong direction. My mother was like, HELLO? How are we then to seat on sofas? HE kept quiet. His act-skillful staff kept banging on the sofa, as if the knew what happened. But you know what, if any of you were there, you'll share my thoughts. That is.. "ACT LIKE."
Anyhow, Sam said he'll arrange to take the sofa back on Monday, which was yesterday. They came, took the sofa, left.
Then, the most horrible service i've seen.
Sam (the so called Assistant Manager) called and informed that the sofa needs to be sent back to Malaysia to do repair. And as they had to pass through the custom, he claimed that there will be a custom charge of $100 IMPOSED BY SINGAPORE CUSTOM. Please read carefully. BY SINGAPORE CUSTOM. As this sounded resonable to me, i agreed to pay over the phone call.
A few hours later (on the same day as the collection of sofa, Monday), Sam called and said that he was able to send back the sofa that same day. Im surprised how did they make it through Malaysia for a repair and back to Singapore within a day. So i asked the delivery guy if the sofa was returned from Malaysia. And he said NO. It was from their TUAS FACTORY. Oh. the delivery man said that why are we so unwilling to pay even for transportation fee? Mind you, Sam initally said it was custom duty. The delivery man said it's for trasnportation. And then? Later Sam said it's service charge. SO what's what??
Cheaters they are.
I called Sam and asked if i was still liable to pay the $100 and he told me in the exact words, " Of coz". So i asked, if $100 was to be paid for custom duty why do i need to pay when it could be settled in Singapore. He couldnt answer that question. Fine.
I continued to ask if i could speak to the Boss. His reply was a flat NO! And so i asked why. He said in manderin ," If everybody wants to speak to my boss, and i allow, why would my boss even hire me?" Seriously, i would LOVE TO ASK THE BOSS WHY HE HIRED HIM AND MADE HIM SOME MANAGER??? When he obviously do not posses any of the Managers' quality? Same for Alvin. The arguement went on and on.
Anyway, out of good will we just cut it short and paid them the $100. We told them it will be a donation from us since they wanted it in such an uncouth manner. By Cheat. THe story isn't done yet. After looking at the sofa, we realised that the leathers were crumpled. C'mon. Would you belive it had been repaired within a day? Or would think it's a new set? Anyhow, the sofa was obviously being mishandled. We called again but he hung up our call saying that we were the only troublesome customer.

Im thinking of distributing flyers to people in IMM so that they will not get conned by Mr Deco's initial friendliness. Because there is absolutely no after sales service from them.
Anyone is welcome to join me.

Yes I totally agreed with you...after experiencing their cheater's act - THE BEFORE & AFTER. So angry and frustrating. Very soon I'll show them some colors because they're not doing business at all. They're just cheats! Alvin, the so called Manager is actually one of the boss. I am the customer but it seems like he have the say in everthing. You have to accomodate his mood, speak soft and nice to him, otherwise he talk and act like you owe him, need him badly, he has no obligation to service you. He act just like hooligan, like one of the member posted: They will hang up your call. Do not be surprised, those who hanged up your call are the bosses - they're partners of two. Think you can guess who are the two.
NEVER EVER GET ANYTHNG FROM MR DECO & BENG HWA

Basically they are super nice before you place your order but after sales is compleletely opposite. It is not the attitude you expect from a company with long term business in mind.
To conclude, NEVER NEVER NEVER buy from Mr Decor @ IMM! NEVER even bother to step!

I agree totally with the bad service at Mr. Decor at IMM (Level 3). The attitude of their sales staff and even the manager, Kenny is atrocious. Promise that they can customize the coffee table for us in black, he even called his factory at Dongguan, China to check on this. Everything ok, everything no problem (that is on 9th Aug). After we placed 50% deposit(that's their requirement for deposit) coz my in-laws went there several times and the staffs' before sales aka sales talk skills are superb , 3 weeks later & YES! you are reading it correctly, its 3 WEEKS later (on 29th Aug), his staff called and informed that it cannot be done.. So want us to go down again to select another from their available stocks. We went down (on 30th Aug) but nothing caught our eyes, all the stocks are no different from what we had seen 3 weeks back. Apparently, they are just trying to push sales. Very very hard sell. This is the 1st promise broken.
They kept promising that there will definitely be new stocks & mentioned they will call us when new stocks arrive, probably on 10th Sept. No one called on 10th Sept. We went down on 12th Sept to check if there's any new stocks. I can't believe that we have to go back to the shop 3 times just to settle a simple coffee table. We were totally filled with disappointment on 12th Sept. Kenny, the manager mentioned since that's the case, he will deduct $600 - the price of the coffee table out from the package price (that previously includes the sofa, dining table & coffee table) to compensate us for the waiting time and if we see any coffee table we like in the shop the next time round, it will only cost $500. Frankly speaking, a simple coffee table does not cost that much. Since it looks like the coffee table issue more or less settled here. He kept pushing us to get the coffee table in white, I was already very very upset coz it just does not match our living room concept. How can you insist your customer to get something unwillingly just because you want to make a closure to the deal? I am very strongly against his words. Why should we be the victims when it is so clearly their fault? Why should we compromise? It was their promise on 9th Aug that they can customise specially the coffee table in black, which was why we agreed to the package deal (Sofa, dining table & coffee table). Else, getting in Malaysia is worth it. They are more accomodating there.
Again, Kenny promised the delivery on 17th Sept (Sat) is a No Problem. My hubby received a call this afternoon that delivery schedule on Sat is FULL. As a manager, he is ridiculously dis-organised. I am totally disgusted with him. So I called the sales person who served us previously, Anthony. He said he will check and revert. He got Kenny to call and I told Kenny in a nice way (I am not the typical demanding and unreasonable customer), yesterday he mentioned that delivery on Sat is a no problem after he had checked for us on the spot and confirmed on that (Now, I'm wondering if he did even bother to check when we were there yesterday). Sat is a better day for us coz it is a non-working day. But now he insists to change the delivery schedule on Fri evening - this means we have to make alternative plans to rush to our new house after work. It is so disruptive. Kenny's reply over the phone in an irritated manner: "If the delivery day of Sat matters so much to you, WELL, I CAN change it back to Sat afternoon FOR YOU but I CAN'T GUARANTEE that both your dining table & sofa will be delivered together (I was like, what atrocious customer service is this??? You mean the total number of items stated on the same invoice will be delivered separately? Going to the same place twice to deliver individual items? It is no doubt that the delivery schedule is full, because they are doing double jobs, perhaps who knows, triple?). This shows how dis-organised and messy this organisation is operating. Promises broken umpteen times..
This is when it daunted on me that it is time I check on their reputation. I googled the reputation of Mr Decor and am very shocked that there's not a single good comment at all. Apparently, they changed their company name from Beng Hwa to Mr Decor not because to keep up with the trend, it is because Beng Hwa is blacklisted in all the sites (Renotalk, Singapore Brides, Cozy Cot - just to name a few) which I went to. Imagine if a company has built very good reputation over the years, why would they want to have a change in the name? When I mentioned that I want a full refund over the phone to Kenny, he shouted at me and threatened me. Sounds like a hooligan, gangster kind of manager he is. Do NOT ever even step into their shop at level 3 at IMM.
