Hi,

I was quoted below for my HDB windows -

Aluminium 1 mm (with bar, non-hollow) - $8.80 psf,
Aluminium 2mm (with bar, non-hollow) - $11.80 psf
Wrought Iron (non-powder coating)- $15.80 psf

Do you all know if the qoutation is reasonable?

Anyone has a good grill contractor to recommend?

Thanks

PMed you.

Please note that this is not the cheapest contractor in town, but likely the most years experienced and top workmanship.
i.e No gap between grilles to wall, steady and no need maintenace, etc

i did a search on the invisible grilles and found tis http://www.legate.com.sg/EnProduct.asp
it look interesting and i never seem something like tis in singapore but i tink the so-called grilles are made of those strong wires instead of aluminum bar. In this case the invisible grilles will be fixed unlike the usual aluminum grilles which u can still slide it to one corner when doing cleaning.

U can try wellmax, their price is very competitive. i have asked around and the price is the lower among all and now the sales person gave me a special package price for windows and wrought iron gate which is very worth it.

The price which i got from wellmax for all the glass panels and grill with a wrought iron gate is around $3.2k. Green glass panel and silver grill, initally we wanted white powder coated grill but tat will cost an additional of $400... we got a tight budget so in the end we settle with silver. Other quotations I got ranged around $3.6k for the window only so the price which i got from wellmax is considered good becoz it include a wrought iron gate which cost at least $350 outside.

saw my neighbour installing this type of grilles. Looks nice but I doubt it's going to be cheaper than traditional aluminium grilles. Anybody have quotes from them?

You should also consider other factors eg workmanship, after-sales service etc. I had my window glass changed by Alex and his brother Vincent(who were recommended by the members in this forum) and there was a slight problem with the rubber insert on one of the window frames. I only noticed it a few weeks after I had already paid the guys but I was pleasantly surprised they still turned up to rectify the problem.
