Hiding Deep Scratches And Dents On Wrought Iron Gate

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My main gate was badly scratched and dented, revealing the steel colour underneath, after the lockset was changed by a contractor.

Is there any way I can hide the deep scratches and dents?

I was thinking of spray painting the entire gate, but will matte spray paint peel off easily?

Thanks in advance!

Looking for good contractors? Click here for your request

u can spray paint, just make sure u use paint that is for metal surfaces. However, paint on metal will inevitably peel off after a while. The proper way is go and do powder coat. This one needs to be done at the factory, so need to dismantle the gate. It's more expensive than spray paint

Metal paints is sufficient, powder coating is overkill just for some minor scratches. With all the labour in removing the gate and living a week without the gates, I think it's more cost efficient to change the whole gate :D

Take some pictures of the scratches to give us a better idea how bad it is for us to give you better advice.

I see many gates are not powder coated but painted by hand (look for brush strokes)
