Xie Xie! When I encounter a good and honest sales person, I sincerely appreciate their effort and time. Though I might not engage their services due to other factors, they will definitely leave an impression .

There's both good & bad when it comes to packages... For those who can live with the simple designs or with the limited options, then the number of top-ups need not be too many.

I agree that we have to be cautious, that's why do have several quotes from different companies to have a clearer picture of what you're going to be purchasing. For some, a package (even if its slightly more ex) can also be a hassle-free experience as one company cn help to settle everything, from sourcing of materials & providing the labour.

100% agree bro... the problem will always be how deep is the pocket, how far are you willing to go!!

I would say that we are all trying to make our money work a bit more harder for us ya! But, within a reasonable range... not the impossible. There is no $0.50 chicken rice and $1.00 chicken rice only gives you 4 tiny meat.. Haha

Oh god, after reading through this post I am relating to the ordeal. We bought a 4rm resale hdb and majority of the contractors and ID's come up with strange issues. We don't even want them to give us a design, we know exactly what we want - they just have to make some changes and additions in 80% of the flat without any fancy additions or major tiling work, they straight on come out with crazy amounts like 30k and 40k :dunno: Totally lost on how to go about this process.

Any suggestions? The breakdown of our work is straight forward:

- 1 patch of tiling required in the bathroom and fitting new sanitary

- 1 small area (less than 5% of floor space to be re-tiled)

- some carpentry work in the kitchen, rooms and living room

- Wiring of new electrical appliances, removing the old one's

The main issue I am facing is hacking costs - I get a feeling I am being cheated for the hacking work which is in a small area of the living room, bathroom and false ceiling.

I keep wondering if it will be better to get individual contractors for each type of work - carpentry, electrical, plumbing, wall and floor works. I don't even know if that makes sense :help:

Hi myhomesg,

did you get quotes which itemize/list down every single detail and their individual prices? If yes, don't mind sharing it here so we can advise on which component is overcharged or reasonable etc.
