A flashback entry...

On one rainy and quiet Saturday morning, as I was walking to see my unit... I saw from downstairs my windows are opened.

I quicken my steps to take the lift up and found that my gate is opened!! :jawdrop:

Oh my carpentry is finally here! Mr E did not tell me they are coming so early.

And because its rainy, some of the cabinets are bit wet. Mr E and his worker assured me that they will dry up soon. No issue one.

After the aircon is up, Mr J came to take measurements, to confirm the dimensions before he tell his workers to cut the wood. :sport-smiley-003:

That's why you could see such narrow gap between the aircon duct and wardrobe. Swee! :thumbs up:

Of course, I didn't expect first time will surely do everything right. One hiccup on the shoe cabinet! :bleah:

Obviously no one thought of this including us. There should be a hole for the light switch as we want to install T5 light recess inside.

This space has addition socket to let our guests charge their phones. Since HDB did not provide any electrical socket near this area, we decided to request Mr E to open this hole for a light switch and a socket.

Good lesson learnt. :sport-smiley-018:

Sourcing for A Curtain Contractor

The curtain guy was here. He quoted me $5.50 per sq ft. He took measurement 80 inch by 72 inch.

Quoted me $500 for the two bedrooms doing roller blinds, that means $250 per set.

He explained to me about the solar film to block the sun & quote me $940 for 4 set of windows (after discount, original $1150).

The brand he used is Rainbow, claiming is USA solar film.

(He criticised my unit "why so hot! You need to paste film to block the sunlight")

After he left, I checked his math of his quote for the roller blind. He overcharge in his verbal quote. After conversion to sq ft, total is 40 sq ft for one bedroom window. 40 * $5.50 is $220 per bedroom. So he overcharge by $30. Not very honest for the first impression.

Does anyone has a reliable curtain/blinds contractor to recommend me? I looking for solutions to block the heat.

Few days later...

Previously, I wrote about the shoe cabinet need to open the hole for the socket & light switch. Mr E workers came again in tactical movement and install this.

Pardon for the dark image as there was no lights installed yet. :notti:

I was startled to see this in the beginning. I thought we want to have the shoe cabinet closer to the door?! I called Mr E immediately. :argue:

He explained that we need to keep some space away from the door to let the ease of moving furnitures in and out of the house. Then I realised he made sense and did good thinking on this. :P

Mr E requested us to deliver our induction hob and sink to their factory so that they can cut the wood and kitchen top. :sport-smiley-003:

The iQuartz top chosen is iPure. It has small tiny dots on it, can't view from photos here. Me kiasu & "lack of trust" so I went to find out from iQuartz to double confirm its iQuartz not other brands.

Got a reply from iQuartz to get some pictures from their Live Updates. :good:

We wanted lights to install very much earlier.

"Where is the electrician? When are they installing lights for us?" These questions kept coming till one day Mr E arranged the electrician to come.

"Aiyoh! I can't take leave suka suka one you know!" :(

And yes indeed the best time the electrician arranged to come install lights is when I'm not around. :help:

So I marked on all the lights...

All our lighting fixtures are from IKEA and Taobao! And they are all LED. Save on my monthly PUB bills :deal:
I had spent many hours reading and researching Taobao :notti: what lights are suitable for the different rooms.

For the Taobao lights, I was quite fussy with the colour temperature from the LED, I don't like the artificial white, that looks like blue type of light.

I decided to get the Panasonic ones, since they spec it as 5000K, which is daylight white. I try not to have too much cool daylight since it looks like a factory :jawdrop:

I also purchase some light bulbs during the recent Philips Carnival Sale at Toa Payoh.
