Installation For City Gas

Hi, I just installed my city gas and I thought I can share with you guys some thoughts. It wasn't very hard to get it done, and but it can help those who want to do it themselves.

1) You can open an account through their website http://www.citygas.com.sg/forhome/our-services/open-an-account/or can call them at 1800 555 1661. I would suggest calling. I did a comparison before that calling will get you earlier in Queue if you are in urgent need to open an account. Online I think takes at least 4working days.

2) When you open an account, they will divide their installation of gas pipe into 2 trips. The first being to extend the gas pipe to your stove area. Before this is done, make sure you already talked to your contractor or ID to know which is the position. The gas man will know the height from the floor based on his experience.

3) After your kitchen top and cabinets are set up, you can call in or use the online form to request for the completion of installation. Calling in will be easier again. Else it will be standard 4 working days wait.

4) There is a total charge $120 not inclusive of GST charged to your bill once the second installation is done (1st and 2nd together). There is no cash involved during installing.

5) City gas will sms you one working day before the actual installation to remind you

6) Make sure you ask the gas man to test for leaks during the second installation. Sometimes, the cabinet installer might accidentally moved something and thus cause a leak!
