Article : Embossed Aesthetics

Text by Edgar Kieu

Nothing beats the natural classy aura exuded by a monochromatic colour scheme and IDEMBOSS has done it again with another stylishly designed home that is aesthetically pleasing to modern sensibilities yet highly functional and timeless in its design.

Walking into the home, one is greeted by a living room which aptly captures the design ethos of the house, managing clean lines in dark colours while maintaining the open and spacious feel of an otherwise small home. Extending from one end of the wall, a television console extends unassumingly towards the viewer, deftly hiding ugly wires while adding to the texture of the house. A low wooden based coffee table separates the long grey couch from the television area, providing space for display. A row of pictures sit regally behind the sofa, enhanced by bidirectional lights which serve not only lighting purposes but also as design elements themselves. Surround sound speakers hang unassumingly at each corner of the living room, promising a captivating movie experience when the occasion arises.

Adjacent to the main living room is a cosy dining area which features a solid wooden table flanked by 4 leather upholstered chairs. Adding to the richness of the design, a gothic looking mini chandelier hangs above the table, casting unique patterns on the ceiling and walls whist providing illumination for quiet family dinners. Breaking the monotony, a simple red art piece hangs beneath the air conditioner, completing the look of the dining area.

The study room is simply decorated with an antique looking work table matched with a leather armchair. Adding to the modern feel of the room, an elaborately decorated mirror sits above the study table upon which a stone Buddha head rests. Small cushions are scattered along the room for anyone who wishes to sit on the floor and a designer standing lamp adds an additional source of diffuse lighting for the study room.

The kitchen, albeit small, is functional and fully decked out with all the appliances in any modern kitchen, including microwave and conventional ovens. Space is carefully managed with every inch of possible storage space used while the length of the kitchen is exploited fully with the linear design. Keeping in theme with the rest of the house, matt silver, black and grey tiles and finishings are used on the easy to clean countertops and floor.

With a twist on the theme of the house, the designer has made the bedroom unique with a splash of red peeking out from behind the lit headboard of the bed. Reminiscent of the retro style, the headboard is backlit with a strip of lit frosted glass anteriorly. The bed’s allure lies in its simplicity as it allows the smaller details like the wooden side table to show through. Alongside the bed there lies a sliding door cupboard for the owner’s clothing while the adjoining bathroom boasts clean lines of black and white with a bath tub and rain shower fittings.

The essence of any design endeavour lies in the owners having an idea of the theme and type of living they envision for their life in their new home and with IDEMBOSS, these ideas and dreams can easily be translated to reality with their professional and dedicated service.
