Decked out in a fusion of contemporary and oriental style, this latest project by Ideal Design Studio makes a clean yet stylish cut out of this HDB flat at Buangkok. Awash with white with highlights of brown and black, the hall feels spacious, open and well ventilated. Garden chairs and a side table sit comfortably by the window opening up to the view below as the hall extends seamlessly into the balcony. The television console area, where a plasma television sits upon an old English cabinet, is gently accented with a brown background with wooden imprints. With curvaceous brown table sitting upon a black rug, the modern sofa set is poised to provide hours of enjoyment in front of the console. Inconspicuously dividing the hall from the rest of the flat sits a patterned wooden partition, providing a visual separation yet allowing for the almost seamless passage of the afternoon breeze throughout the flat.
Fusion of contemporary
and oriental style |
Uniquely designed with the ease of maintenance in mind, the master bedroom’s style is guided by the geometrically placed wooden laminate struts which ingeniously provide display space while keeping the room clutter free. Whimsically juxtaposed to the white background, a dash of color is afforded by the pillows and the black and white floral comforter.

The single panel of baby blue paint on the wall behind the head of the bed helps diffuse the otherwise harsh lines and gives the room a comforting aura. Discreetly placed egg-shaped lamps sit by each side of the bed as a simple ceiling lamp adorned with a metallic finish and frosted glass sit above the bed.
White blinds at the far end of the room keep the hot midday sun out while a smaller sitting area allows for the owners to work and have food lazily in bed with the provision of a mobile table on an inclined cushioned side feature. Behind the backrest, hollow niches are created to provide additional storage space without any compromise on the clarity of the design elements. From the celing behind, uniquely designed lighting feature hangs ever so gently, ever poised to light up those quiet evenings where one can sit by the window with a good book and a nice mug of tea.
Congruent with the master bedroom, the design of the master bedroom toilet sports a similar functionally driven aesthetic appeal, this time with more rounded features. Stark white walls are offset with the panel of deep emerald green tiles in the shower area which is clearly delineated with a glass shower stall separator. A finishing touch of an old-school incandescent lamp with a thread-strung shade adds the eclectic appeal that resonates throughout this highly customized and tailored style of this flat.
