Nestled in the quiet suburbs off Bedok, this two story, 325-square-metre bungalow is a picture of quiet serenity. As one approaches the house, the modern resort like design strikes the senses ever so gently, with the wooden floor paneled veranda lightly decorated with a designer deck chair and terracotta figurines. Dave, the interior designer of this house, cleverly created an open access between the exterior and interior. Casting a gentle pattern upon the white celing are two ornamental lights, augmenting the muted design. The entrance is no less classy with rotating panels on the side and a large solid wood rotating door designed to allow for the maximum passage of air without any compromise in aesthetics.

Perhaps the living room best exemplifies the design ethos of the family and interior designer. White, brown and grey hues dominate the room giving it a clean and modern touch without losing the warm feel of a home. An extended couch sits in front of a large plasma television placed simply on a console in a fuss free manner, in stark contrast to the commonly wall mounted designs. Surround sound speakers dot the celing inconspicuously as halogen lamps light up the living room.

Adjacent to the living room, the dining room, with its defined lines and bold aesthetic appeal, is anchored by a flat glass top table with stainless steel supports and ergonomically designed dining chairs. Backing the dining area is the dry kitchen where cookbooks and recipes are neatly stowed away along the bar top table from which drinks and food can be served from. Tucked away seamlessly at the corner are the ovens, allowing for freshly baked smells to permeate the dining area. Beyond the dry kitchen lies the wet kitchen and washing area, covered by a glass ceiling.

Heading up the stairs lined by clear glass panels, the stairway is well lit without being harsh. Dave removed the railings and installed the glass baluster to enhance the modernity look of the house. Opening into a large master bedroom, the theme is consistent throughout the house, down to the rug used in the bedroom. A luxurious king sized bed lies unassumingly at a corner of the bedroom with a black headboard supplemented with pure white bed sheets and pillows lightly designed with silvery finishings. The monochromatic tones with woody accents are carried up to the bedroom with the sofa and small study table blending in perfectly with the plain walls upon which lights are deftly placed to add life through creative interplay of shadows.
The adjoining bathroom carries accents of a minimalistic spa, anchored by strong dark grey tones and clean linear designs. The strong masculine features traverse across this bathroom from the uniquely designed shower area complete with a sitting area to take a leisurely shower to the vanity top. A wholly white sink with a stark pitch black cuboidal faucet adds the finishing touches to the user-friendly yet modern and stylish design.
One cannot help but to admire the boldness of the design concept anchored in its simplicity and the recurrent penchant for a modern yet timeless look, sure to serve its owners well for many years to come.
