Owners may overlook the importance of the primer easily. In fact, the role of primer is very important. Firstly, it strengthens the adhesion between the base and the topcoat. It can go into the pores of the wall and form a claw shape to deeply penetrate the base layer, thus forming a firm adhesion with the base layer.

Secondly, it closes the pores of the base layer, preventing the penetration of the alkali in the cement to cause the topcoat become efflorescence. And it can reduce the amount of topcoat used at the same time. Therefore, it is necessary to apply a primer, and it must be painted evenly without sag.

The topcoat is a layer directly to the outside, and the requirements for the painting are high. It requires a certain skill and time to do so. In addition, the first layer of the topcoat must be dried before the second layer of topcoat is applied. Moreover, it must be formed once for the second layer of topcoat and cannot be repaired later. Also, you need to make sure that the coating color is consistent, and the thickness is even. Try not to add water to the topcoat, especially for deep-colored topcoat. Otherwise the color may be inconsistent due to the different proportions of water added.

Tips for applying varnish:

Repair the nail holes on wall. Firstly, apply a layer of primer to replenish the nail holes. The color should be adjusted well. Spray or apply two to three layers of topcoat. Polish the walls before applying the last coat. No polishing is required if the last primer is applied.

Tips for applying white paint:

It is best to choose a white paint with good adhesion. It is recommended to apply the primer with a brush instead of spraying. Avoid applying the primer too thin. Apply three to four layers of primers and then smooth them.

Tips for applying wall finish:

Apply back plaster. Use more paster jelly for the first layer for a strong adhesion effect. Then reduce the amount for second and third layer. If it is for cement wall, white latex can be added properly for the first layer. If you are renovating the old wall or the wall on lower floors, it is recommended to apply a layer of alkali-resistant primer because the old wall tends to be yellowish and the wall will have mold easily on the lower floors.
