  1. Anyone has any idea when WMF is on sale, how much is it for a set of cutlery?

Very tempted to get this set which is under SGD$100 but I've seen like set of 60 going for SGD$129 when on sale by Isetan.

    http://www.amazon.com/WMF-Baguette-20-Piece-Flatware-Placesetting/dp/B002A9J7W6/ref=sr_1_10?m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1421167290&sr=1-10

Wmf has sales locally every 3-4 mths. I've not seen this before locally, I pick cutlery based on the size of the dinner spoon. Too big, can't fit into everyone's mouth...LOL

The other thing is the made in Germany ones r the more expensive sets - they r also heavier and feel more solid. Up to ur preference, but I like the heavier feel. Unfortunately, made in Germany sets hardly go on sale...😆

  2. is the taka sales better than robinsons? what are the must see stuff at the taka sale?

i think it's the only dept store i know of that the sale applies to the cosmetics section...otherwise for homeware stuff, robinson's could still be better...but taka has a better range of dinnerware than robinson's...

  3. dragonnite! 500 hangers! that's a lot! yaya i also thinking if to buy from taobao! maybe carpet too? lol

500 including possible replacements mah... :notti: i haven't finished replacing all my hangers yet, been a bit slow, but my rough estimate is that i will use about 300 of them... :sport-smiley-003:

my carpet also from taobao...again, all my tb purchases are on kim's t-blog...u can go take a look...best is u order carpet, hangers etc all together and ship in via someone like amcon...cheaper... :sport-smiley-018:

  4. Tonight I go home n listen again n c if I can find something similar to benchmark to... btw, point to note, their production time is long cos it's made to order n handcrafted so it took him about 20+ days to ship out to me...the second hand was slightly bent towards surface of the clock, despite all the careful packing...I just carefully adjusted it myself n it's fine...

Ya, I also scared of it falling off n m tending to getting a hole drilled... :)

ticking sound - i can only hear the tick-tick when i put my ear about 1" away from the mechanism at the back of the clock ... so it is indeed very quiet... :good:

    2) carpet- geylang

someone wants to ship something in via tb - u all can combine...

  6. Ya as long as not ikea clock or alarm clock those sound can liao.

I'm thinking of getting the circle with the 12 grooves ..

Not worried 3M hook won't give way? I'm always worried that after 1-2 yrs the adhesive wear off.

Ya, I also scared of it falling off n m tending to getting a hole drilled...:)

  7. wow very nice.

    the direct shipping costs $41?

Cos the item is already almost 100 sgd?

How loud is the ticking ?

ticking is not loud...how to say ? confirmed not the loud tick tick in the cheaper clocks lah... :notti: btw, the seller told me it's not possible to fit the continuous movement onto this one cos of the size but as he said, it's not that loud...

ya, this clock not cheap but cannot find similar one in SG ... :bleah: so i gave up ...

  8. hi need help regarding Amazon free global shipping !

I want to buy a yoga mat and some accesories from Amazon, how do I tell if the item is ellgible for free shipping if the total purchase is $125 or more?

The mat I want to get is the Manduka eKo superIite yoga travel mat.

    http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_p_76_0?rh=n%3A3375251%2Cn%3A%213564781%2Cn%3A239038011%2Ck%3Amanduka%2Cp_76%3A1249176011&bbn=239038011&keywords=manduka&ie=UTF8&qid=1376274283&rnid=1249174011

    rough rule of thumb:

    - each item must be <20 pounds in weight

    - amazon global eligible i.e. sold by amazon, not a 3rd party seller

    - total order >usd125

    - check for restrictions here and elsewhere on the amazon site:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?docId=1001120111

during checkout, if for some reason, your order doesn't qualify for free shipping, ask an amazon cso to verify for you...

  9. Hi Shopping Gurus, any recommended online shopping websites (besides TB, Amazon, Qoo10 etc.) that you can recommend to buy bedsheets, quilt covers, pillow cases, etc.? A bit hesitant to shop @ Amazon due to different mattress sizes between US and Singapore? Pai seh ... actually prefer to buy online (unless bo bian) than go physical store front. TIA!

uhhh, for bedsheets etc, cos it's next to my skin, i prefer to go and touch and feel so i buy these at the store.... :sport-smiley-018:

  10. finally, i got my clock !

    Taobao store

    ry9v.jpg

I arranged for the seller to ship direct without going through a freight forwarder, about SGD41 in total, COD...well-wrapped by the seller and shipper...

    w2ib.jpg

    Undoing the outside wrapping

    clyj.jpg

The clock is encased by plastic foam, custom cut to its shape...and the cutout for the needles to prevent damage..

    jxcy.jpg

First look at my beautiful clock - handcarved from 红木 (redwood)...a hook is provided for the clock but i'm planning to use a 3M hook...it weighs roughly 1.5kg, very solid feel...the finish is smooth and sanded well... :thumbs up:

    8cvx.jpg

close up of the wood grain...the mechanism is not very noisy although it's not one of those continuous movement type...

all in all, beautiful clock - a bit expensive including the shipping fee but definitely a one of a kind type... :sport-smiley-004:

  11. which brand are u using btw? I'm looking for one.

My sis just bought the Tefal one in June. But my mum gave the thumbs down for that brand as she said it's way too slow compared to our old philips one (EOL now).

My house has been using toaster ovens since i was born. heh so it's a must.

lol, i use a tefal one - mine heats up pretty fast tho... but mine comes with a temperature dial - most of them only comes with pre-set stuff like toast etc...not many brands' toaster ovens allow temperature selection, btw...

  12. it really depends on a few things...

    1) Budget

    2) Space in kitchen

    3) possibility of a lifestyle change later on (might cook more, might wanna make your own cookies etc for kids so that you can control their diet a bit more etc)

I find meals prepared in the oven great...cos there is less clean up (dishes and kitchen)...less physical time in the kitchen...and healthy. Honestly, it depends on the individual. I hope that helps

I use a small toaster oven instead of a built-in version cos I wanted more counter top space n I cook 1-3 times a week...:D it's good enuf for 1-2 person meals, imo...

I like baking fish, asparagus etc as I find the taste n nutrition is better preserved n definitely less messy to clean up...

  13. Hi Kim76, do you have both the oxo good grips salad spinner small and oxo good grips salad spinner(Large?). I was thinking of purchasing the small one for ease of use when washing it in the sink. If possible could you post a picture of both of them side by side for size comparison(also maybe place a common item such as an iPhone etc for scale)? Thank you so much!

i have the small one...here are the pix...as kim rightly points out, this size is good for <=4 people...

  14. yea it looks like it is quite dangerous....think i better go the safe route...anything related to water better not play....damages will be expensive.

that's y in the end i opted to buy all my sanitary fittings locally, even tho i knew how cheap tb was...i wanted the peace of mind here, even tho my ID did comment that for taps, quite hard to break lah when i asked him if i should buy from tb or not... :sport-smiley-018:

the hansgrohe guys at the mohamed sultan side are very helpful, won't hurt to ask if they know when the next sale is going to be... :notti:
