  1. I'm looking to remove the built in cabinets, wardrobes and carpentry in a 4 room flat, living and 3 bedrooms only.

This should not require a permit ?

The IDs i saw quoted over 2k and I feel it is too much..

Anyone has a recommendation to remove and dispose?

  2. My ID was Angeline and she made the renovation process quite a breeze for me. I actually started to look at renovation 6 months before my keys was ready and I didn't manage to get to meet up with her as she was tied up with projects then. Few months later, she actually made contact to ask if I am still interested. I met up with her and signed up with her right after I collected my keys. I even waited for her to come back from Maternity Leave since I was in no hurry to start reno. It was better as she was able to see through the process. I have to say there's no 100% perfect renovation, but what I'm really impressed is their service. It has been coming to 2 years and they are still very approachable when I have problems.

  3. Is this Ackerman and Smith same as Sleep Savvy?

Cos, I bought a Simmons BeautyRest Platinum King size bed during the Home Decor fair on July 1st. The guy who served us was called Eric. can't remember the surname. But he seemed ok. Maybe I just haven't found out that I kena carrot yet.

Anyway, he threw in 2 Deep Sleep pillows and one mattress protector for us. And the mattress was delivered on time. So, ok for me lah.

I got my mattress from them and everything was fine too. I went to them after a few friends bought from them too.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience.

  4. hi, F4. we are as clueless as you. someone told us this, but we don't know how true it is as we're pretty ignorant.

the water tank on the rooftop only services half of the upper block and swey swey our floor is one level below the last level the water tank services... sian if it's true :(

hopefully, they'll upgrade the water pressure in the cluster's current upgrading project... best if it's done before we move in :P

I dont know if water pressure can be "upgraded" cos mine is a new flat and water pressure isn't fantastic. Probably also could be cos we are middle of the block too..

  5. the toilet fixtures have been installed by the plumber actually... according to the hubby, water pressure doesn't seem very strong

anyway the plumber will be changing the copper pipings to s/s ones tmr, and the pvc sink piping will be changed to the chrome one too

hope that things will be OK, and water pressure will be strong when everything turned on. the wife likes strong water.

The water pressure could be due to other factors. Did you test the water pressure before ?

I have storage heater also and somehow, the water pressure varies, good initally, very strong suddenly and now normal. I think for my case, it's probably due to the water pressure in the whole block. Still wondering who I should feedback to.. HDB or PUB ?

  6. Thum sounds nice~ keke..

Haiz...I also did not like Sheng Siong using a long stretch of the road to park their unloading lorries. Turning in and out of carpark is rather hazardous. We all all patrons of our Sheng Siong, but I do think they should have much better logistics. The unloading bay is not for them to place their goods and park their lorries all over the place.

One more thing, are we guys going to wash cars together some time soon? I thought that's a nice time to chat and bond. :) But I know some of us are lazy lahz..kekeke..

Rc is organising a block party next Sat, 30 May 09, at 4pm, at the Pavilion below our blocks. There will be games, performances and the Adorable Baby Photo Contest.

The block party ticket is only $3 and includes a packed dinner and games tokens.

The ticket will also entitle you to vote for the Adorable Baby Contest. Hope you all can treat this as a gathering and also support the adorable babies :)

Those with babies 0-24 months old,for the contest, just need you to submit 2 photos of your babies for the contest, and be present during the block party if your baby is shortlisted. Hope you can support. Pls email to commonwealthdriverc@gmail.com the photos.

  7. The MP will be around for door-to-door visit this wk. Maybe can sound out some suggestion regarding the cleanlines issues around the voiddeck, ShengSong areas, and the function stand area (alot of kissing, hugging at night, maybe can turn on the side lamp to discourage such act.)

Yup, the visit is tonight. Do feel free to bring up issues to the MP as parties like HDB, TC will all be there. Some of the issues are common and have been raised by other residents. At the same time, you can get a immediate response if they already have prior knowledge of it and what were the actions already taken on it(whether successful or not). I do understand that sometimes their hands may be tied. But all your feedback will be minuted down.

  8. well... to be fair with them, im not saying their work is no good or anything.. ppl like you giving good comments and defended them for a reason. Im just saying since we are the customers, we have the power to demand and the power to choose... what im unhappy with is the reply i got from them... "if i break down our quote for you, it will be unfair to the rest of our clients?" I mean can't u be more flexible in dealing with your customers? every customer has a diff set of demands, so are you telling me we can only do it your way or the highway? simply ignoring your customer requests? that's poor "pre-sales" service...

Probably many people have asked for break-down before. Intra may have some reason for not wanting to give a breakdown quote, and at least to me, they are consistent in this, the same way of quoting. If they give some clients, but didn't give the rest, I would be upset too.

I'm an Intra Customer and I agree their after-sales service is what I am impressed with.

  9. Spot the picture game mah. Me & wife had a good time guessing...next time khris must tell me your answer ya.

    What game?

finally can login... Somemore my office PC got problem with renotalk forum.. can read, cannot login...

I think I know which families Khriz is talking about. We saw the units during the Block Visit few weeks back. And it seems there's some history already, not a recent event... Both sides been calling the HDB, TC etc. but unable to resolve their differences. That corridor is really "crowded", just hope it wont be hazardous.

  10. well i have black granite top, so if i take bright red botton cabinets, i scared too much "FIRE" leh. Realized tat black top quite difficult to match wif other colors leh. White surface top seems cooler but too bad hubby wants granite. :sport-smiley-018:

Hee it's black floors (crocodile skin design). The slanted white color portion is a wall. Looks funny cos I copy and paste to become a pillar. Me no 3D graphic software just use "Paint" software to do. SO pardon the weird look :P

I have black granite top and dark flooring.. even with the cabinets white, it's still dark at times. It also really depends if you want to cook often. Personally I prefer granite. You can take a look at my kitchen as it's a long shape one.

  11. Yeah I want 2-way switch and dimmer too. If got excess budget, I oso dream of those Korean motion sensor light at foyer. So cool! :notti:

But for cove light in the centre, will the centre ceiling look dark and ugly when you dun turn it on at night?

Ya.. remember to tell them which lights need to be 2 Way before they do the electrical works and false ceiling. I dont mean 2 way switch.. but more number of switches.. I got a total 9 switches for the lights in my living room :P

  12. Hi Jule Thanks for tat piece of info. Will go search for #312.

I love tat black strips on ur floor. Wanna copy ur idea can? haha :notti:

But when you cover with furniture, it's not obvious anymore right? Ur false ceiling is ALL white as sakae sushi suggested. So I guess colored false ceiling is not suitable for our area?? :dunno:

Actuali I begin to wonder whether having PLC on both sides is really necessary since most people actuali onli on the ones above the sofa. Bright enough meh? I'm used to the old school centre light piece. haha :P

Oh yeah intel & rondy, in case of mis-communications, the 3D is part of the package so tats y to me considered free. I have to pay deposit first before I get my 3D though I know some ID firms actuali give 3D first before you even sign contract. Eg Baroque - Andy (Nice guy)

It's my ID's idea not mine :P the 2 strips are mosaic.. it's all the way from the entrance to the window. So only a small part is covered by the sofa.

My suggestion is to have more switches to control the lights :P so you can decide when you want to turn on. It looks nice to have all the lights on but not economical to do so everyday.

I remember one of the guys also had colored false ceilings.. grey color i think

  13. Hello! I know cos I'm oso from Blk 89 :D But after reading too much from the topic "My Neighbourhood" I get confused who is who le.

So you mean if white false ceiling is ok but if put color then will be very cramped?

Your unit resembles the #312 in Blk 91. I think you can check out some of their designs and layout, esp on the MBR.

well if got excess then can consider hacking ba. :P

BTW, please give ur comments on false ceiilng design. Cant make up my mind on which one is better.

NO COVE LIGHTING for me cos I'm scared of the recession which is a breeding ground for lizards it seems haha

So please ignore that cove design. I am wondering whether to have 2 sides false ceiling (colored sides or colored centre?) or 1 side false ceiling above the TV area will do?

Sufficient lighting if just based on PLC downlights? :dunno:

My living room is similar layout like this with the cove in the center + 2 false ceilings. I usually just use the PLC lights in the back, sometimes even watch the TV with no lights. It's ok to me.

  14. Looks good. From MeiHao99? We also ordered for my family reunion gathering last night.

Yup. From meihao99, they used to be non-GST registered! was even more value for money then.

    No curry? Hehe...

Where to buy the yusheng ah? I thought of buying from local zichar stalls better cuz got more 'liao' mah...

Can change the Braised Chicken w/Mushroom & Fungus to Curry Chicken, then we can buy french loaf also!

We bought from the ZiChar stall next to the Chicken Rice Stall last year.

I find Meihao quite value for money and had used them few times including my housewarming. I will be ordering for my family gathering soon, if you guys are keen and want to use them, I might be able to get them to discount on the transport fee or waive it. Just checked.. Business are good! Even Meihao has GST.

Am open to trying the other caterers too.

P.S Chairman, we are only available for the 6feb date, if other dates we cannot make it.
