    Not easy to make a decision if we will do it ourselves or will look for contractors. But after a month searching,we've learned a lot that if you will D-I-Y,u will save more!!!


    So,we decided to make Ala-Carte Renovation and made some lists to do and budget wise (most importantly). Were not getting a renovation loan so all from our own pockets (OUCH!) :bangwall: Here are some direct person or shops we contacted to do our place and their specialty (cross-fingers) :unsure:



    Yon Tat - doors


    lots of here talked about Yon Tat so everybody knows that my renovation might be finished before they can install the doors we will ordering :(



    Mr. Tay - electricity & flooring


    found him in this forum as well,of all the persons we talked to,he's the only one really give us cheap quotation specially for our laminated wooden floors so we engaged him in flooring and electricity wiring and one more good thing about it,he even told us about the free screed of the floors from HDB which the others didn't (he's quite an honest man on that so credit to him ;) ). Easy to negotiate so we put down a deposit the next day :good:



    Mr. Hock - built-in cabinets


    he is referral of Mr.Tay,but I think he's not the 1st option,as I remembered its a Malaysian who he wants to refer,unfortunately he can't be contacted but Mr.Hock is quite professional (hopefully). One thing I liked to him is he didn't say NO,CANNOT. He will tell me the standard measurement and let me think if I'm ok with the given space then give me some suggestions. They are easy to negotiate with the pricing as well :thumbs up: Will ask them to do our kitchen cabinets,kitchen island,liquor cabinet,false wall for TV console & wardrobe in master room



    Mr. Chua- sinks & showers


    He's our previous neighbor,don't even know that they sell those stuff until after 5yrs. were being neighbors LOL!!! Well,of course we clinch a good deal!!!! But he only sell it to retail shop,I'm not so sure if he's willing to sell it individually. Will post some pics soon and you won't believe the pricing for such nice stuffs :notti:



    Gain City - air conditioning


    you should choose your sales representative better! Me & hubby decided to get Samsung Inverter for our a/c but the 1st sales rep I talked said that we can't coz the inverter cannot go in into the window,I find it impossible so I intend to show my floor plan but he said that he don't need to take a look coz he's 100% sure that cannot due to the designs of the bto on my area. When I return with hubby and another sales rep talked to us,he take a look in my floor plan and said it can be coz its in laundry area not master room window need to passed :curse:

    I've just had my place renovated n would like to share some cheap deals/services for the benefit of all.

    iQuartz- $120 to $150 per foot run

    Painting- $300 for 4 roomer

    PE- $300

    I'm not in any way related nor am I working for these companies or trying to earn commission. Just sharing good lobangs with all.

    hi all,

    just did some carpentry work at my own place and find that their workmanship is good and cheap compared to those ID firm and contractor...

    painting is also good and fast, finished my EA within 1 day with 3 worker, and the workmanship and price is cheap too...

    just gonna share these deals with you all who are interested, as i got friends who engaged those ID/contractor and their workmanship cant be compared to mine.....

    im not in anyway getting any commission from the above company,but just recommanding to bros and sis here

    Got the keys and now starting to give us headache for a small space :help:

    We want to feel it at home since we have kids but still want a comfortable space despite of small area.

    Still discussing if we will do it Ala-Carte Reno since we can draft how we want it to be or do it with a direct contractor..ID is not an option coz we can look after for the renovation..

    Neighbors here in RT please share some ideas and suggestions..TIA!

    Plumbing for our place has started!

    Since I will be using City gas , there will be hot and cold pipes. I will be using hot water for my two showers only.

    I have decided to use stainless steel pipes, was contemplating between stainless Steel and copper.

    I hope the routing of the pipes is done neatly and the joints and bends are well done. There are some seriously joints and bends to be done. So need to go check it out. Also some drilling to connect the pipes which will impact our new tiles. Hopefully there are no cracks going through the new tiles. Need to go check them out.

    I got to thank Alan for been gracious enough to not charge me for breaking of the current box up of the piping in the foyer and replacing it with a new box up with the stainless steel piping. It really helps me to keep to my strict budget.

    I hope the workmanship is as good the hackers and tilers. :D

    Just Newbie here in RenoTalk but a silent reader of the forums for awhile.. My keys will be in this month,planning to get those individual contractors of my own without ID (i'm currently an ID student) so planning to do everything from the scratch and buy stuff from direct suppliers.. Not rushing since we have a place to stay. Hope I can gather contacts,referrals and recommendation is highly appreciated. Friends are also welcome to share some ideas and experience,good or bad.

    hey guys,

    I'm also engaging the carpentry works directly without going thru main contractor or Interior designer.

    This carpentry has done my previous house and also my current renov at TQ. Honest ppls and they only doing carpentry. Have their own workshop in Sungai Kadut.

    They accept small jobs also, anyone wish to contact them direct can pm me...for their contacts

    They will start to fix my current renov in a week time, anyone wish to view can pm me also....
