  2. anyone experiencing water leak fr om drill hole on bottom of the window frame?

my contractor was installing aluminum window grill. They were drilling hole to fix on the bracket on the original window frame causing water to leak from the hole.

they told me it is normal and got to let it drain till finish which i could not accept as it will spoil the flooring as i not sure when it will finish draining the water.

should i get them to seal it with silicon or get bsc to check. mine is new flat

Hi there! can i know if managed to resolve the problem and how? As i'm facing the exact same problem now!! Do advise, thanks!!

  5. Hello hello~

Love your eggshell white floor! I'm also getting vinyl flooring, mind if can share the procedures of appealing for foc screed and also your appeal letter?

Also need your advice on this, i will be hacking a couple of walls first, so if i appeal to hdb upon collection of keys, will they allow me to choose date for the screeding ie after approval of hacking plus actual hacking of wall...?

You were suggesting if vinyl is 5mm, then should have an offset of 7mm, can i ask what does this offset means? Is it referring to the screed request from HDB to top up to 7mm?

Hope im not too much of a hassle!! Thanks!!

  6. From my own home experience, yes need to top up as the FOC is barely enough.Discuss with the appointed HDB contractor, inform him you are using what kind of mm lamnates or vinyl. For mine im using 5mm vinyl and i ask the hdb contractor to top up up to the height difference . I inform him beforehand when i was given the contact number of the hdb contractor that i need to top up and inform him i know the requirements. Coffee $$ as everyone always say.

Sorry for the super late respond but wow thanks for the info! i was thinking of coffee money also haha, Can i know if your screed was done smoothly in this case? and how long did the whole process take?

    Hi Chower!

Yes I'm doing laminates, which is 11mm thick. I got HDB to do screeding for 50mm height, which is 10mm more than the standard. I paid $550 for it and they used prepaid cement for my house. We did give the workers some additional money but it didn't work. We merely gave them the chance to tok us. Just call the supervisor if it's not smooth enough. Their supervisor's word has more power than money. Depending on your district/estate, the allowance for bumps is 2-3mm or 3-5mm. Unfortunately, for Ang Mo Kio Town Council, 3-5mm is their allowance. So if we have bumps within that range, it is still considered smooth. :jawdrop:

    Hope this helps! (:

This really helps too! so this means no point talking much with the workers, must really "sa kah" the supervisor in this case huh? I'm really hoping to pay my contractor for screed instead of taking HDB's after so many complaints read, but boh bian, when one has limited budget, one has to tahan a bit more.. But your carpentry is looking great!! Looking forward to more pics~!

  7. your muji toilet cover is soooo cutes!! I WILL HAVE TO GO JAPAN!! :jammin:

Btw is that shampoo etc holder all from ikea? Will it shake shake when you are "pumping" the shampoo? sounds awful but you geddit.. right??

    p/s: i just voted for you too~~ :D

  8. OOOH~!! That's so loft like! Very nice!!

Actually i did consider the ikea bed frames (i adore the Hurdal model) but... most of them are better suited for queen size mattress (and i'm getting a king sized mattress) and you know la, Ikea is so funky, their bed frames are better suited for their own Ikea mattresses due to their unique sizing... :bleah:

In any case whilst getting annoyed searching for nice bed frames for the right mattress size, I might just go back to platform in the end hahaaha~ Never heard of the superstition before but if there is, just take it that i've never heard it before!! :dunno: *act blur live longer*

    hello chower! :D

oh for our mbr bed, we went without any frame! just the bed on the floor. our bed is ard 3inches++ high i think, so we are comfortable with it! no storage cos i'm a little teeny weeny bit pang tang (superstitious) even though i don't know what's the story behind it haha. just heard that some people don't recommend storage under beds. but yet again, these are just superstitions :P believe, then believe, don't believe then its okay haha. but so far, our storage area in our WIW is enough for us :) anw, ikea has pretty (and pretty cheap too haha) wooden bed frames that i would buy if i decide not to sleep on the floor anymore in future hehe! especially when one is pregnant! even the bed aunty advised me to get a bed frame haha. but i didn't LOL.

  9. yay! super cute sofa~ and yeah i agree wood peg legs are definitely a must for a scandi home! *thumbs up!*

By the way, for your mbr bed, previously i understood you had forgo platform to lower cost, so in the end did you buy a bed frame instead? with storage? I'm looking around for bed frames currently in case platform with storage might be out of budget for me too hahaha, looking at your t-blog for inspiration!!
