  1. Hi, did you have to paint the tubing and all trunking or it comes in black colour? my contractor was telling me no black colour available.

Our conduits are a combination of tubings and trunkings. The tubings are black. The trunkings were painted black.

    This may help: [http://rumbleinstyle.wordpress.com/category/renovation/electrical-wiring/]

We are going with a mix of PVC trunking and industrial pipes to route our wires. We also have selected industrial plugs and switches to enhance the look. There are some constraints with using pipes, so we had to adapt and adjust our plan according to balance between aesthetics and practicality. ...

Got our electrical trunking painted matt black to match the black industrial pipes. Now they all blend nicely together. Kudos to our painter for a job well done.

  2. hi,

as you engaged a contractor, did u spent alot of time coordinating stuff ?

Yup. Designing, choosing, coordinating, checking... on site and off. But it was worth it in the end.

    Hi Rumble,

I am getting a 3 room flat too.. Totally love the way you reconfigure the MBR. The extension need permit from HBD right? How do you get over the HBD rule of "can only be used as a dry area"? Wont showering wet the extended area?

Secondly, may I ask how you select your contractor? Based on what criteria? And also, if possible, would able to share your quotation/tender requirement for reference? Need a template and your works are in line with what i had in mind.

    Thanks,

    Samuel

    1) Yes, HDB permit required for bathroom extension. I'm not sure how they determined wet and dry areas, but ours was approved. We don't really wet the extension when we shower though.

    2) We selected based on a combination of price, communication and reading of reviews here. We didn't really have a quote requirement... it was mainly verbal (on site) with drawings of the plan. [http://rumbleinstyle.wordpress.com/2013/08/13/contractor-vs-interior-designer/]

Wow you are not Rumbling in Style but you are Rumbling with Style. Love the job you did! Congrats!

    Thanks!!

  3. Hi Rumble can i check with you where does the exhaust for the hood lead to?

Up? It's a ductless hood that uses charcoal filters... so no exhaust/vents to outside (not sure if vents are allowed for hdb).

  4. Hi Rumbleinstyle, you have a very lovely place :good: . Would you mind to PM the contact of your contractor and your reno quote? Thanks!

Hi Rumbleinstyle...very nice design...a mixture of east and west very well blend together....

Do you mind sharing your contractor contacts and also the quotation? Thanks.

    Can send to my email...ng_guanhwee@hotmail.com

Thanks for your comments! PMed both of you.

Since it has been many months after our renovation and in light of other newer t-blogs, we will not be giving out any more contacts for our contractor.

    Appreciate your understanding. :)

  5. Yesterday, it happened I went to around that area, pop by and intended to buy this light, the uncle said he did not have this light, I asked if he sells any light? He told only one type the rounded normal light. Maybe no more stock, anyone manage to get one, please let me know. Thank you

We bought ours at Tiong Bahru.

Dear Rumbleinstyle, I really love your reno; especially how you transformed the space into your own with distinct elements around the house. Would you be able to share with me your quote and contact of your contractor too? Thanks so much in advance! :)

    Just PMed you.

  6. caught my eye when i scoured through TB, but my missus probably won't approve because of the potential dust and insects landing zone on top of the lamp :(

Actually, this type is easier to clean, for those concealed, most of the time the insect still manage to fly in and remained there, and we need to open up and clean.

So far no insect problem. As for the dust, it's actually rather easy to clean as it's a smooth surface – just a few seconds of dusting or wiping. And since the flat surface is above the eye level, then being out of sight and out of mind, we don't clean it as often as we hope to.

Totally agree with mangorind that it's more convenient than those insect-trapping lights.

  7. I love love love your dining light! And convinced hubby to use it for our music/study room. But, the thing is, where did you purchased it? Hahas, can share? If they got more of such lovely lights, think I'll buy different kind of hanging lights.

We are assuming you are referring to this dining area:

    cny-dining1.jpg?h=450

We got the pendant lamp from Tao Bao (we've also seen the same light in several lighting shops around the island) and the track light from lightings.com.sg.

  8. hi bro rumbleinstyle, I am not sure if I am right but are u using just track lights to light up ur living room? if yes, is it bright enough?

I got a resale flat recently and really scratching my head abt the renovation, I tot of using track light as the light source for my living room but not sure if it is practical.

Hi kuang3, we used track lights for general ambient lighting and it is sufficient for us. However, if you want to use them for other purposes, such as reading or work, then you might want to either position them accordingly or use other lighting types.

Hi there.... Its been a while since u moved in to ur flat.. Hows the Relite Petite coming along?

The ceiling fans are serving us well so far.

Hi Bro, possible to PM me your contractor and your reno cost?

    Hi, just PMed you.

  9. Hey there, really interesting reconfiguration and design you have there! Can I request more pics that show an overview of the spaces, e.g. from your dining area all the way to kitchen, master bedroom, WIW, entrances to the rooms after reconfiguration? Thanks much!

Sure, we have been wanting to post more pictures but have gotten really busy the past few weeks and still looking around for our last small bits of furniture to finish it up. Guess we will post more up sometime soon... stay tuned! Meanwhile, perhaps you can go through the pictures on our blog and piece them up. Think we do have pictures of almost everything except for the furniture in the living room and bedroom.

Is your study/party table from IKEA?

Yup, we are using the Ikea Ingatrop dining table. We had wanted something with more interesting, but settled for it due to practicality and cost.

Last but not least, do you mind sharing your contractor and tiler's contacts with me, and also how much your reno cost? Thanks again!

    Just PMed you.

  10. thanks. but that princeton comes with the big nozzle right? means not really strong but average yea? cos i was looking at that.

Yup, probably average, but we don't really have a good comparison with others – it works well enough for us. Anyway, we got the heater due to it's heating capabilities rather than its nozzle, so it was a pleasant surprise that it came with a nozzle that we were ok with. But nothing is stopping you from purchasing a stronger nozzle to replace the default one.

  11. how is the pressure of your princeton water heater?

We don't have a rain shower, so it's ok for our needs.

hey really brilliant work with the renovation, and thanks for sharing your experience! would you mind sharing the contact of your contractor please? thanks so much

    PMed you

  12. Hi,

Do you mind sharing the ID contact?

    Best Regards

    Vlad

    Just PMed you

Hi RumbleInStyle, you house renovation really looks great especially the kitchen. Like it so much. :good:

I'm currently renovating my flat and more or less having the same concept as yours. :P

Thanks! All the best for your reno!

  13. Hi, u mentioned u bought the industrial lights at tiong bahru . I made a trip down last week n all their lights got badly scratched right?

Esp the black handle rubber holder n it doesn't come with wire

Hi, we are not sure if you went to the same shop - opposite the market. Ours were not scratched. It was some time ago, but we do recall having to purchase the wires, but it's something like a dollar for two pieces... and think they threw in the bulbs for free or something.
