  1. Hi, Mr K initial payment is higher than any other ID/contractor. Is that any concern? He is one of the contractor shortlisted.

    Any advice?

Hi, I didn't have that concern since I thought you've got to trust your contractor when you're entrusting your 'house' to him. And many of the forum-ers had their house done by him (including one of my personal friend). Currently, I've paid 95% of my payment, remaining 5% to be paid to him during handover (everything's done except final touch-ups!), so far so good.

hi im interested in mr K too..dont mind if you can share and pm me his contact and qoutation?

Hi, you can contact Kevin at 90222321 but he's currently on holidays, will be back by 6 Dec. Anyway, I spent roughly 30k. Items as follow:

    1) brick wall

    2) 5ft shoes cabinet

    3) kitchen cabinets with solid top

    4) concrete screed for kitchen walls

    5) subway tiles for kitchen walls

    6) vanity table + mirror for 2 toilets

    7) dresser table + mirror

    8) floor tiles for whole house (except kitchen & toilets)

    9) plumbing

    10) electrical

    11) painting

    12) 3 room doors

    13) windows for service yard

    14) honeycomb wall tiles for MBR toilet

    15) Glass shower screens for 2 toilets

  2. YTMO

Congrats! Your place looks good. Love the brick wall and the carpentry work!

Thank you! The brick wall was a must for me cos I'm not for a feature wall and it'll be too plain in my opinion to keep it as it is! The carpentry works were of satisfactory standard and the wood laminates all turned out well, lucky us we thought! :)

Looking forward to pictures of the completed house!! :good:

Most definitely! Will be sharing more photos on Sat/Sun once few pieces of the furniture are in :)

  3. hihi, mind sharing how much did it cost for the shoe cabinet? :) Please PM me!

I'm actually quite interested in the shoe cabinet as well hehe. Looking good. Pm me the price too will ya! :)

Hi both, if I didn't remb wrongly, it's 1.2k for the shoes cabint (5ft).

  4. Alrighty thanks anyway! Looks quite reasonable.. Did you do any cabinet for your MBR? Realised it wasnt stated inside.. haha..

We allocated a room solely for our 'walk-in wardrobe' without hacking the wall that is. Engaged another vendor who specialises in walk-in wardrobes, hence it's not under the reno cost by K.

  5. Yes, K is away on holiday. I have engaged him as well am in the midst of our renovation. :) While he is away i'm substituting his role to monitor and alias with sub contractors for the progression of works.

I am the first few to collect keys for my project in Oct as well and quickly got K to process with the reno due to year end and chinese new year.

Is yours ready for handover? Last layer of painting and chemical wash arranged already? While K is away i gotten him to pass me the contacts so that i could arrange. :)

Hi, sorry didn't notice your signature which states that you've engaged K! Your place is looking good too, K is pretty fast but we waited 2.5weeks for carpentry to be up (he has a whole list of houses queuing for his carpentry! haha). And yup, K has helped arranged for painter these 2 days and chemical wash on Fri and my furniture's coming in next week. Thus, more or less done! :)

  6. Great to see that everything is going well! I'm planning to hire K for my upcoming renovation also.. Your design is very similar to what i had in mind too! Do you mind sending me your quotation by K? so that I can roughly gauge how much my reno cost will be and what things I have to forgo to fit into my budget.. Running on a very low budget :dunno: Having my wedding together with flat collection certainly doesn't help!! :help::help::help:

Thank you! Quotes may vary on your requirements; size of works and materials selected, hence it's best to have K go down your new place to take a look and give you a proper quote. But for a rough gauge, I spent about 30k inclusive of the following:

    1) brick wall

    2) 5ft shoes cabinet

    3) kitchen cabinets with solid top

    4) concrete screed for kitchen walls

    5) subway tiles for kitchen walls

    6) vanity table + mirror for 2 toilets

    7) dresser table + mirror

    8) floor tiles for whole house (except kitchen & toilets)

    9) plumbing

    10) electrical

    11) painting

    12) 3 room doors

    13) windows for service yard

    14) honeycomb wall tiles for MBR toilet

    15) Glass shower screens for 2 toilets

To be honest, K is not the cheapest contractor around (in fact his cost might be on-par with some IDs) but his workmanship has been pretty good thus far (except for some frustration with the electrician!) and I like that he's easily contactable (if he misses your call, he's sure to call back awhile later!). Plus, his style suits the house theme we are looking for, hence our decision to use him. Hope the above helps :)

  7. Hi neighbour, good to see that you are progressing quickly. My project is in Fernvale but doubt it it the same project.

I'm few steps behind you and its good to see that K is clearing more and more projects nearing the end of the year as he gets really busy during this period. :)

Hi! I'm actually one of the latest (reno and moving in!) amongst my fellow estate peeps! I had the keys collected in June but didn't start on reno till Sept. Anyway, K is away on holidays now, hence he'll only be able to do final handover of my place in Dec. Did you also engaged him? :)

  8. Just 3 photos to share for this week as mostly touching up works were done. All tiling works have been completed; cement screed beautifully done up in the kitchen; and the lovely brick wall which is a contrast from the dark grey living room tiles (our bold move to be different)!

Air-condition will be up next week and K will also be preparing our carpentry (looking forward to our 5ft shoe cabinet; vanity for the bathrooms; cabinets for the kitchen; dresser for the MBR)!

We have also purchased our dining table + bench, coffee table and study table during this interim. Got to work on getting the lighting and toilet fittings so K can help to fix up!

  9. Welcome and your renovation looks good!

    Thank you thank you!

Looking forward to more pics! I'll be doing something similar for my kitchen! :)

More pics coming up this weekend! All the best for your upcoming renovations too :)

It seems that you are going on well with your home renovation. I am also planning on doing some interior desing for my living room. I came accross an online store that offers plenty of home furnishings. Check them out at renopapa.sg. I'll be purchasing some wallcovers and other interior decor accessories to style up my home. Thanks for sharing the lovely photos, they are an inspiration to others planning for home renovation. :sport-smiley-018:

No problem, I've gained much from the forum so I hope I can be of some help to the rest too! Good luck for the designing of your living room!

  10. I have been garnering inspirations from the entries of fellow forum-ers and finally it's my turn to document my renovation process. We collected the keys for our new place (Fernvale) in June but delayed commencement of renovations till 2 weeks ago. We compared a few quotations and of course did our due diligence on these IDs/contractors before deciding to go with K (Regular forum-ers should be familiar with him by now!).

Anyway, to cut the story short, these are works we sighted when we visited our place today. Loving what we see thus far and progress is going relatively quick.

Brick wall in the living room. We'll be placing our TV on this side of the wall.

    photo6_zpscbb61bcb.jpg

Wood tiles for all 3 rooms almost completed.

    photo8_zpsdee5bc39.jpg

L-shaped feature wall done up by black honeycomb tiles with white grout in the MBR toilet.

    photo5_zps6fa224e7.jpg

White subway tiles and black grout in the kitchen. The other plain walls will be cement screed. Long side of the kitchen will only feature low cabinets while the short side of the kitchen will house both lower and upper cabinets.

More pictures next week since we can only drop by on weekends. Pleasant weekend everyone! :good:
