These are the things that we did to our house:
- top up the balcony (headache, delays sigh)
- knock down false wall near the door (headache and delays...)
- knock down the wall between dining and kitchen (again delay)
- put up a wall between the living room and the path way into the rooms
- change all the lightsand switches
- level up the kitchen (previous owner top up 1/3 of the kitchen to make a dry kitchen so to get a bigger kitchen we hack the floor off)
- built-in wardrobe
- kitchen cabinets
- an island (I love island in the kitchen!)
- do up the toilets
- false ceiling in the kitchen to enhance the look
- tv console and feature wall
- to get the classic look, I want trimmings on the wall
- take out all the wooden beams, tiny brick like tiles on the dining area and the balcony
- change the gate, windows, put up the shower screen and toilet doors (these items are done beautifully by Andy from Home Aluminium) A job well done!
Ya basically that.

Lets talk about my ID. He listens to our views and tries hard to accomodate. It is his first time doing my kind of modern classic look, well it is more classic than modern actually And I have a thing about 'white' house. I love white and you will see there are lots of white stuff in my house. The tiles that I picked for my living room is white and some grey veins. White walls all around the house, some white furniture, the fridge, cupboards, bed... if only I can afford white oven and white microwave, that will be awesome! Roy seems to be more into modern look but he really tries to deliver the best to suit our taste. Pictures from magazines, google images, drawings really helps to convey what I have in mind. I'm kinda fussy when it comes to design but I love the result!

If you have observed clearly the dates on the pics, they were taken early this year but we only started reno around July.... So here is the story of how I met my ID
Once a upon a time, we searched high and low, went places to places and expos to find the right one. It is our first house so we did a lot of 'research' on reno. We want to make it a cosy one, a place where we can just relax after a hard day at work... Since the house that we got is quite old and the theme is not up to our liking, we need a major overhaul... So we met up with a few IDs:
- Dxx from pluxx livxxx
- Kxxxxx from renozxxx
- Yxxxx from Earnxxx
- Sxxxx from Axx (Expo)
- Txxx from ID xxxx
- Meng Sxxx
- Rxx from IR Dxxxxx
- And a couple more which my memory is failing to rem right now.
We have a great chemistry with Txxx, but due to unforseen circumstances, we have to let him go. He is really nice!
So, after considering our budget, comfort level and reading from renotalk (lots of praises on this guy), we decided to give our ID all our trust and $$$$... He is Roy from I.R. Design.

Resort, Balinese themes used to be huge before... Now it is more of the vintage industrial, Scandinavian styles. Which style are you going for?
Yup. Mine is more modern classic. It is modern with a classic touch to it

This is the floorplan. It is curved and crooked and posted quite a bit of headache in renovating. Everything is just....crooked.

After all the readings, now it is time for me to write about my reno journey... It was after our 4th year of marriage and a kid, we decided to get our own house. We tried for BTO initially but after 4 unsuccessful trials, we gave up! It was really disheartening to know that even for first timers like us, who are married and have a kid, we still cant get a place in any BTOs (in the west cos it is nearer to my parents'). Our numbers were always way behind in the thousands! So we looked at the ads for resale houses in the newpapers and property guru and decided to get a place which is only 2 blocks away from my parents'. Not my first choice but we settled for that one cos of convenience.
Our First Home...

These are the walls to be hacked. :bangwall:Just to get the permit to hacked, it takes a few weeks, causing delays but Roy tried to keep to the time line by doing other things like plastering etc....
