Do you mind to share where to buy the Rhythm Clock and how much you paid for it? Thank you

Wow! Quite some time ago though, I really cannot remember how much I paid for it. I bought it at a shop at Tanjong Katong Complex. If you like Rhythm Clock, you can check out this watch/clock shop at Bras Basah Complex. It is on level 1. I believe it is called Heng Wah Watch. You can check that shop out. I saw a few Rhythm clocks there. Not sure about the prices there though.

    hope this helps!

Hi, would like to check if you did any servicing for your water heater? if you put your shower mixer to Hot only, do you notice any sediments coming out?

Hi! Sorry I haven't log in to this for a long time! Just saw there are some questions. Anyway, no. I haven't serviced it since I moved in. I haven't turned on the heater till it is too hot. I did notice that the water was a bit brown/yellowish for a few months. But now it is gone. My neighbour also had the same problem. So I reckon it is the water supply and not the heater.

    Hope this helps!

Today I installed the digital letter box lock. Being single and staying alone, I think there is a high chance I would lost my key. So I'm trying to go keyless not only for my main door but also for my letter box.

I got them from An Digital for $159. Very easy, just contact them to choose a date for installation. And this digital lock is easy to use, using 4 numbers of your choice to lock.

Hi! Like to find out more about this. Does HDB allow installation of such locks to the mailbox? Is there any drilling involved?

  4. Hi all!

Never thought I would post here again! Bought a few things recently. Finally gotten an office chair to replace the old Ikea one! This is a Herman Miller Setu chair. Delivered on Saturday. So far quite comfortable!

Bought this poster from allposter.com. Frame from Ikea. I have read bad reviews of the website. Delivery was a few days later than promised, but I didn't have any problems with them.

  5. Hey!

No wonder it looked familiar. Hipvan is selling it. Nearly got them, but didn't. Sorry no comments on it. I use the 3M Command hooks. They have clear hooks and clear tape. But of course not as stylo looking as Paste It.

Wanted to find out with you something, today someone from my office told me that she has been using this product "PASTE IT" hook to organise mop and sweep. Just want to find out from all of you here, anyone use it before?

If yes, how to you find it? Is it good?

If you never use it or see it before, this is a Youtube video that you can take a look.

  6. well I don't have it! Sony launched it after I bought my TV :(

anyway, from what I understand, it is very similar to your phone. It is a smart TV for sure, but runs on the Android platform. You can also install apps using Google Play on the TV.

    Hi kaisermisaki!

We do have android phones but when we were looking at the brochure, none of the functions for android TV really appealed to us. Do you have it? What is useful about it or what do you use it for? :)

  7. hello!

You can consider the Sony Android TV. That is if you are using an Android phone. You may like it :)

To finish off the living room, I thought I'd might as well also list down the electronics we've already picked out for it.

For our TV: Sony R550C 48"

    371272.jpg

We didn't really do that much research on TVs, just that Sony was more well-known for its visuals and we didn't want a TV that was too big. Out of the Sony TVs, this one caught our eye because it is supposed to be dust-resistant with no-ventilation hole design and protects against humidity, surge and lightning. Plus it was Full HD and not super expensive. We didn't need a super-top-of-the-line model really and will probably hook up the TV to our own media console (maybe a Mac mini) so we didn't need the Android TV functions.

    Soundbar: Philips HTL5140B/12

    HTL5140.jpg

Again not much research done, just based on the fact that Philips has a good reputation for their audios. Generally good reviews online.

Ceiling fan: Fanco FFM7000 White 52"

    FFM7000-52_3-2xlgbqqteigr3rwpib8l56.jpg

We wanted a simple white fan with no lights and no need for remote. My mother-in-law's house has been using a Fanco for years and it's been great, and the online reviews seem to indicate Fanco being a good brand. We will have white track lights in our living room to account for the ceiling fan.

Also intending to get a PS4 for the TV, and bring over my old Xbox 360 with Kinect. :)

  8. Hello!

I have a Dyson DC61. Came free when I bought my mattress! Works good. But because it is cordless, you have to charge it a bit. They have a newer model, but not sure the difference?

Oh! Is Dyson going to launch a model too?? We've been looking around at all the different variants of Roombas but thought we would stick to the original since it's generally well-reviewed. So far, the prices on Lazada have been the best. We are actually probably getting a Roomba 650 and an iRobot Brava (the one that can Swiffer and mop) and then alternate them for each floor. And run them twice a week and do a proper Swiffer+handmopping maybe twice a month.

I also want to get a Dyson mattress vacuum :bleah: I'm the generation that grew up with my parents using a Rainbow vacuum on our beds and pillows and am feeling a bit grimy having not vacuumed our bed for months and months. The Rainbows and Delphines are too expensive though, like $3k for a unit which I would only really use on the mattress, so the Dyson one looks great for less than $1k. #vacuumtalk

Oooh I love that EM unit! And actually love your unit as well, we share similar aesthetic tastes. Perhaps I should get your ID contact lol but so scared it will be beyond our budget. Could you PM me anyway (though I think, should be quite busy recently?)?

  9. Hey mate! You have an awesome selection of items! Love them, especially the posters. They are posters or actual artworks?

    Enjoy!

    Yesterday's Oops: The Door Handles

    qy4NnFI.jpg

So we know that some doors in our homes open left, and others open right. For most door knob sets these days, it's simply a matter of just flipping the latch assembly and striker (innards) to face the way your handle turns. Well apparently, not so simple for mine.. Sigh. They need a different set, in mirror image. Usually the door people will know what to bring over but in this case, my doors and door handles were from 2 different shops. So yup, only half of my room doors have handles now, and will have to wait till someone gets a replacement this week. Bummer. :(

Meantime, nail positioning for wall pictures. Historically, i am really bad at this. I'm certain some will end up off centre *sob*

  10. Hello! Thanks for the nice words!

I do like marble stuff. But it is a 'hard' material. Too much of it, makes the place cold. So need to balance it with other materials. That is why I also use a lot of teak wood furniture and some metal ones.

Well I would think stores may have post Christmas sales on Boxing Day! Perhaps what you want might be on further discount!!!

Kaiser, your place is awesome-ly done up! Feels so cosy and I can so identify with your marble craving... I saw some really pretty marble kitchen accessories in Crate & Barrel over the weekend.. hope they'll still be there after Xmas. I missed out on CB2's marble wall shelves because I "tuu" too long... now they're all gone! :~

  11. Hello!

I have finished my reno and moved in. Been staying at my place for about 6 months!

You can check my t-blog. Just search under kaisermisaki.

    Hi ricepapergirl & kaisermisaki,
Thank you for dropping by my page :) where are both of you at now in the reno process? I am hoping i can move in by xmas, but this is getting bleaker by the day I'm afraid... :(

  12. Alamak! Then I am a bit slow! Since a lot of you have seen this website!

I was searching for a nice office chair. Found some on this website. Pity it is not real leather and cannot adjust to tilt the chair! Love the designs though!

  13. Hi all,

Not sure if anyone know of this website? Chance upon it last night? Just wanted to share.

    http://www.overstock.com/

Disclaimer though. I was just doing a search online and saw this website. I have not bought anything from there. But it seems the site has quite a few things that might be of interest to some. Have a look.

I believe they ship to Singapore.

  14. Hello ricepapergirl!

Thanks for the kind words. Yes I do like my place. It turned out quite nice (to me at least!) I still have some things here and there to furnish. But will take my time. Perhaps some art pieces might be nice.

I can't wait to see your finished house too! Good luck and enjoy your reno!

Really enjoyed reading about and seeing your home! The design is very classy and it feels very cozy for a home! Thank you for writing it up!

  15. Hi all!

Sorry took so long to do this post. I would think this would be my last post here.

Can't believe I have been staying in my new place for over 6 months now. Loving it!

So... A review of my ID. Like I said before, she is great! For me, other than a good portfolio, personality is quite important when choosing an ID. I need to click with the person. The ID would be working very closely with you during that few months of reno. You have to like what he or she has done, and also able to sit down and discuss/brainstorm things. Attitude is very important to me.

Designer S and E, both are good people. I have worked with IDs before (when my parents were renovating their place years ago). I remember the ID we engaged wasn't very good. Yes granted he had some good ideas, but pity his attitude wasn't very good. We only found out after appointing him. He was fine during the first few meetings. After appointing him, the not so good attitude creeped in. Constantly late when meeting up, and didn't inform us beforehand. I remember waiting for him in his office for over an hour. Some times he would also get quite impatient with us.

Anyway, I am very happy with Designer S and E. Designer S has a lot of ideas. Some times I am unsure what I preferred, and she will take out her phone and show me photos of either things she had done for other clients or photos from Pinterest. To show me some ideas or solutions. Designer E on the other hand is very practical. He would advise me if ideas can be translated into reality, or how to go about implementing the ideas. It is really a good combi!

I must say both of them are very patient. There were times I was a bit unsure about things, and they will try to help me narrow my ideas down. If she is late for any meetings, she would inform me. Once the time is fixed, they will be there on time or just a few mins late. Designer S is quite happy go lucky type (at least in front of me). If there is a problem or issue, she would not fret over it and quickly help think of a solution. Very assuring most of the time. She is also very fast in responding. If she is in a meeting, it will take her some time, but she will respond to me. Every evening, I would go inspect the progress of the reno. If there is any thing not right, I would take photos and show her and she would act on it quickly.

Recently, I have some problems with the grouting in my MBR bathroom. I contacted them about it last month, and they told me they can only make it in Dec, which they did! Designer E actually helped me patch up the grouting himself. So to me they are quite responsible. I must say, it was fun working with both of them.

Looking at how Designer S and E work, I really don't envy their area of work! You really need a lot of drive to do this job. They have to juggle different projects at the same time. That is why sometimes they do forget things, and I would have to remind them. I don't blame them though. Too many small details to take care of, especially when they have different projects to complete and work on at the same time. I wonder how they even manage that sort of work load. That is why I try not to be demanding (I hope I haven't!). If they forget, I would remind them. If things go wrong or didn't work out, I would suggest a time to meet on site and discuss and resolve the issue quickly.

I am really happy that I have appointed them as my ID. I didn't have any major problems during my reno. Only that my neighbours downstairs kicked up a bit of a fuss about their ceiling. The rest are quite common issues I would think, nothing too major. Reno was completed on time. So I am a happy man :).
