A recent update. I got the HDB to come and inspect it. Their thinking is that the wall is not a main beam so not problematic. This is a wall consisting of several panels. So the bulge so to speak happens between the 2 panel joints. Their suggestion is that I install a carbon mesh between the joints using a contractor to reinforce the joints and then seal it with another layer. The process will involve breaking open the wall to see the defect, perhaps add carbon mesh and then seal it then paint it.  He also told me that its pretty common in older flats but not so in prefab styled ones. He also added that it could be moisture related and that windows need to opened to keep humidity under control.

So, I asked them if any contractor like Nippon paint would do it. Then they told me that you need an approved contractor but didn't know if Nippon paint had capability. So, I will be looking into a quotation soon.

Never even knew there was such a thing with older flats, good post

  3. TS i think that its better to just buy an entire tap of the same model or some other model because not all shops will carry the spare parts of different kinds of taps as they will only carry the common ones, alternatively if the tap manufacturer has a distributor in sg, maybe he can help else its just better to get an entire new set in my opinion

  4. Taps are cheap... like bepgof stated, range from $20 to $2000. Around $50~$80, you get buy from hardware shop in neighbourhood hardware shop. Branded ones, go to the 'boutiques' (if you know what I meant). I DIY my own tap replacement, so don't know how much but think probably $30~$50 dollars for labor/transport. Tap excluded. My friend once got a person to replace his leaking tap (including the tap) and it cost $150.00 (abt 2 years ago). And the tap cannot choose, he replace with whatever he has in his van but is brand new. The plastic gasket for the glass edge is available at Home-Fix and Self-fix.

The 2000 tap must be gold plated, lol

  5. If you are not being able to determine I suggest you go to a professional. The carpets and upholstery cushions can contain many germs and bugs, some of which are deadly. Also you never know where else these dropping are being left. I recommend you to look into chemdry central carpet cleaning for more information. Hope you find a solution.

This is in australia, anything in sg instead?

  6. my old kitchen has this problem too although not so much of feces smell.. smelt like some rotten or dead animals and i realised our kitchen toilet is always mouldy..

when we couldnt take it anymore we re-did our kitchen cabinet and found out that instead of having pvc pipes for outlet of the sink to the drainage the old kitchen had this tunnel made out of the cement base..and this tunnel is linked to a 2nd one that allow water to flow in during floor washing.. and because the sink is located a distance away from the drainage this cement tunnels runs a long way.. which means whatever food that gets washed down the sink accidentally may remain inside the cement tunnel along the way.. and these will rot etc and the smell comes out from the other exit... kaoz.... :jawdrop:

now new kitchen no such problem !!:sport-smiley-018::sport-smiley-018:

    Wow never knew that
