Hi, may I know, how much did Ho Bee charge you for the shoe rack?
We have been putting off having a shoe rack due to the tiny space of our home. But we came to a conclusion that we cannot do without one recently. Next question was…to buy or to make? After shopping around, we decided to call our contractor; Ho Bee, describe and drew to him what we want and wala! Our new shoe cabinet is born. It blend in so well with the design of our place that both my hubby and are happy we took the plunge. -
hi all...
do you think Ho Bee would entertain minor constructions of erm.. wall bookshelves and such?
I am in desperate need of shelves as I currently use Ikea's but those cannot hold the weight of the books.
Or, would anyone know of affordable wall cabinets?

Hi Joe, I booked a trip in February with Jetstar but experienced some errors while making my payment. It was during the sales period I guess traffic was heavy. Anyway, I tried several times but still received the same errors so I gave up and booked my itinerary with another budget airline. To my horror, about 30mins later, I received confirmation through email. The payment actually went through and the fare was charged to my credit card! (I wasn't aware we could cancel this with the bank.)
I immediately called their hotline to complain and the officer told me to get a refund I would have to write in. Till now, I am still waiting for their reply. Like you, I was told to just wait. I'm worried too. Let me know if you have progress. Sigh.
Hi,Just to warn everyone intending to book a Jetstar flight,
I book 6 tickets to Bangkok in Dec 08 for Mar 09 school
holiday and received a call in Jan 09 about the cancellation
of our flight.
We will given a choices for another flight or cancel and
be given a full refund which we have to wait for 3 months.
I have call Jetstar a few times regarding my refund through
their customer service call centre and was told each time
it is being process.I'm very worried that we will not be able to
get our money back.
I was told there is no office or email address in Singapore
you can write or complain to.Until now i have not even
received any letter regarding my refund which show that
the management of Jetstar do not bother about their
customer complain.

hi xmac, just wondering how convinced were both of you to laminate most areas in the house considering you have a dog AND 3 cats.
as for us, since we are living with a dog, who is toilet trained but forgets at times to do her business within the designated zone, we have almost scrapped the idea of laminating the living rm.
our bedrooms are laminated, as well as the study area - which is an open concept and fortunately the dog hasn't soiled the study area in the 10mths we have stayed here. our living and dining have ceramic flooring and they're really awful! part of me still want to find a reason to believe it IS still possible to laminate the living/dining area.
any thoughts?

harlow
it's muah! !!
wow. your reno is progressing well! now your living area looks so much more spacious and bright with the lightings and all.
! must post more pix hehehe
eh i just realised my friend is staying in your block
Halo,Yes yes.. its lollipop pink. At first was really considering if we should try, coz it's quite a bold color, and i'm not sure if my hubby will like pink in the house. Thank God it turn out nice.
HI greaycat,
Yes thats my featured wall. No money to do up something nice, so thot of just painting it a color to make it more.. 'featured'. LOL!
Yeah, i wanted it all white initially, coz i like white, and i think it makes the whole place look spacious and clean, but everyone keep telling me it will be very plain, and some even commented it might look like hospital, so decided to add it a few more colors!

Happy '08 yáll!
Btw, did anyone of you buy and/or are using Duro Lock Art 338?
Just bought but seems like there's no way i can fit that thing in. The gap is in the opposite side!
You can call Mr. Chua at 97393178 (hope he's still operating). He has two buses departing near block 472 every morning at about 0748... one heads towards BKE, stevens, Tangs, orchard, shenton.... cost about $45 a month or $3 a trip....It's '08 and he's still arranging for the transport!
Michael's number is 62821500 of HP 94890077.... but he's already full, nevertheless try him, he leaves block 465 at 0730 non-stop to fullertonBoo! He's full indeed.
Yeah.. its very expensive now.NOrmally i take cab before the fare hike, it cost about $17 on a normal weekday with peak hour charges. But now when i take cab to work, at the same time, it costs about $23 ($6 more) I travel from Jurong to Yishun.
The fare is now 35% higher.
I now take the MRT to work... LOL
Oh no... hopefully no more cabbing for me!
-
oh that's such a wonderful news!!! THANKS!! i'll give him a call and will wait for you to post the other provider's number too! !!

If we have the numbers, transport companies may even consider running a special service for us.
Just to add, found out this morning that there is another provider, Michael that goes straight to Shenton from block 465, pick up is at 0730. Will post his number later in the evening

oh thanks you all!
sounds like a really tiring process but have to!

Yup.. The tiles for the living room and bed rooms are all free coz they have the design i want. (actually i just want plain white). All the hacking and materials, labour, washing etc etc..
Except for the tiles in kitchen and bathroom i have to top up because i am choosing another design. But the labour for that will be waived off by hdb.. so i will only be topping up for the tiles.
hi wendily,
that's so lucky of you!
we just collected our keys. but our flooring appears to have just been recently changed leh coz the groutings are all so white. but we found alot of uneven tiling works though.
how to check for hollow tiles huh? use keys can already???
my to is also uma. but still have to go back and do a thorough checks again.

good. can't wait for them to start repainting... our blocks are soo dirty...can even see algae...have you tried senja grand area? there's a Kopitiam there and the food quite ok leh... and bangkit area? Greenridge shopping centre?
Hehe... yes I can see the algae from very far, it's so disgusting. Hopefully no fanciful colours involved in the painting! Heard from my friend that the residents actually got to pick colours from a bunch of selections leh. I asked her what colours there were, she said "blue, yellow..."
Erm...

Alamak... previous posts gone!
To recap:
Quotation I got from one ID for EA Premium Flat $14,477 + GST.
- Had received comments that kitchen cabinets are rather costly @ about $110 pfr. ID remarked that it is of good quality (thicker material) but then again, is that an important factor?
- What is the difference between a solid plywood postform and polyester solid surface for kitchen top?
- Study table (10 ft) inclusive of one row drawer is $1,210.
- Ceiling works are almost 10% and it is only on selective areas. For example, L Box @ Dining & Dining and False ceiling for Foyer, Hallway, MBR, Study and Living.
The quote still lacks of some items, but at least we can rest assured it will not tear a bigger hole in our pockets!
Still waiting for other quotations for comparison. I must say it is quite daunting at times to receive quotations that are way over your budget. It's like, err, that's not what we're prepared to pay... surely there's plenty of room for improvement.
The thing is, I feel we started off with the hunt rather aggressively, specifically informing them of what needs to be done and of course the amount we're so willing to pay. But the quotes almost always seem to shock us. Now, we just tell them the same thing but with a tighter budget to work on. Not sure how effective this is, but at least IDs are more than willing to offer alternative solutions.
Hmm, I wonder how much it is to overlay the entire master toilet. What can be done to hide the hideous pipings? Err, the bigger pipes situated on top can be concealed with an L box I guess, but what about the smaller pipes that leads to the shower mixer? Hmm...

Just met with Jerry ( from Arts n thots) last night at my house ( Punggol) cos he also stays there ! Quite friendly and knowledgeable, price ok but a bit on the exp. sideI'm also dealing with - and FIDE design so far !
Have to make up my mind by August ...
Met with Jerry today at the expo.... yea I can say he's quite knowledgeable about his products and pricing. I've to see if the quote he gives is within our expectations or not though. He seems to have alot of portfolio's to share however, i don't think they have been a popular pick in this forum. hmm...
Bruno, who have you engaged finally?

i have other plans for our actual dining area and here's my current plans for our kitchen:
Well, seriously a big space won't do justice to the amount of cooking we do!
I actually wish for a "U" shape but I don't think there's sufficient space for the dining table because the HHS, common toilet and service balcony doors are all in the way!
Not sure if it's feasible or if it would be unpleasant to have meals there in the future... I should hope not!
Any better ideas?

Assuming 5 shirts = $10 for easy illustraton.1 month = $40.
1 year= $480.
10 years= $4800 on ironing alone...
I think ï'd rather do myself.
Hmmm... get a steam iron! You get to sit down and watch tv and ironing will be a breeze! It's value for money, really. I don't like to iron so all our clothes are not ironed. But i try to fold them neatly coz the crease will not be so visible under a heavy stack of clothes. Of course your folding skills must be good too. Hehe...
I guess it's important to pick up after yourselves to minimise the mess. Your household chores will not be so heavy too. I only do household chores once a week. And major ones once a month. So i can't complain about the "load" as it only takes up 2hrs tops off my time. I don't ask for help unless i'm super tired but i've not been rejected as well.
Compromise (and a little training) is the key!

Hi I notice you use weiken. How is their worksmanship?
And the price?
The first ID we talked to was Spacious. We happened to pass by when this lady approached us. Quite friendly at first and I like the fact that she was concerned about our preferences and our constraints so that she will be able to work around our choices. But at that time we were still unsure of what we wanted so she said she would get back to us in about a week to give us a rough quote.
It is more than 2 weeks now and no sign from her at all. Bad impression! My other half says we could call her as afterall, he's good friends with her bro.
I was like ' '. Her service is poor period.
Perhaps it wld be a different story if another ID approached us. Hehe.
