  1. Just now, skb said:

With app function will require the door viewer to have wifi, don't think it will ever last 6 months. My wireless door view battery last less than 1 week, battery is 2500mah. Never really used the apps to view other than just playing it out.

Hi skb, so you charge the battery every week? Isn't it too often?

I find the app function useful to see if anyone is loitering outside the door real-time. My things outside the flat, at various times, have been disturbed. Without the app, I will need to retrieve the SD card to view the footage.

How long will a typical battery for a wireless door viewer last (without video recording & PIR sensor function)? And same question with the PIR sensor + recording? Any idea?

    With regards,

    BubblyBee

  2. Hi,

does anyone has any recommendation for door viewer with display and door bell function? Looking for a suitable set with the following requirement.

    1. long battery life (~6 months, at least)
    2. able to record images and having PIR sensor + recording is a plus
    3. easy to install (with english manual)
    4. app function to see/interact with person via an app - hopefully

    I saw this on Qoo10 - http://list.qoo10.sg/item/EQUES-R21-DIGITAL-DOOR-PEEPHOLE-VIEWER-SURVEILLANCE-VIA-SMARTPHONE/515696474

Not sure on quality of product. If anyone has used this model before / using it currently, or has any recommendation of other brands, please do provide feedback and suggestion.

    Thanks.

  3. May I know what WC did you buy? Is it good? Where to get it from?

I have started reading maybe 1 to 2 pages of your blog so haven't got to the WC part, etc. Information overloading is possible since you are quite detailed. Better to have more information, than no information.

Where is your house located? It is very spacious and the design concept is very nice. Read that you are using OPSH for WIW, kitchen cabinet and TV area? I am using OPSH too but only for the WIW. :)

I thought the complaint was that the Baron W888 has a weak flush? That is what I read here and here. But I have no personal knowledge. (P.S. seems like the second article is complaining about another WC).

If you do get those models that use very little water to flush (e.g. one tick only), do check that they flush efficiently. Otherwise, you end up flushing 2 or 3 times, which defeats the whole purpose as you end up using more water than a regular 3 tick WC. This is just my point of view.

Hope you don't suffer from information overload after reading my blog. It is a common complaint.

  4. Hi Lazyfatcat007, thanks, hope to have a fuss-free reno experience.

Looking forward to hearing if your electrician does freelance work?

Anyone know what the estimated cost for electrical re-wiring for a resale 4 room will be? I am using Eubiq system, so will need the electrician to lay the cables without points at various places and points at dedicated places like fridge, washing machine, oven, etc.

    Thanks!

Hi BubblyBee, thanks for dropping by. For the toilet flushing, like what KS said, there's no way to try it at the shops. All I have learnt is by the seniors' sharing and subsequently using the product and giving feedback. That's what the forum is for :) You can try getting the not so water-saving ones, which is almost equivalent to the ones with more powerful flushes. Try asking the shop staff as well.

My electrician is from my ID, not sure if he does freelance, will check with him. His work is not too bad, nothing that
I wanna grumble about till date. Have fun with your reno!!

  5. The design makes a difference to the way the water flushes. It is not possible to test. Most shops do not have their WCs connected to a working flush system. The only shop that I know does this is Fullsun at Jalan Besar but they sell mainly Toto WCs. Even then, it is flushing only water so you still cannot really test.

I guess the only way is to do some research on feedback by users. So far, I read from forum users who comment that they are referring to only one particular brand or model. I guess to be safe, you can avoid that. There is also some kind of USA test website that one forum user referred to but I am not sure how to use it. I could not find my model listed.

Thanks Ks Toh. Different opinions by different forumers. So confused. The most often cited brand that I come across in a few posts is Baron. Maybe I should try this out?

I was reading your T-Blog yesterday, came across it cos of electrical works. Like your vertical garden. Will be continuing reading your post after work today. Very informative :)

  6. Hi Lazyfatcat007, I came across your T-Blog today and read through the 9 pages of sharing experience. I am also doing the reno for my flat. Mine started in December 2015 and expected to be completed by end of next month. Hoping that the ID can complete sooner. So far, the wall tiles are not completed yet for kitchen and 2 toilets and ID said that floor tiles will start only when the wall tiles are completed.

I noticed that a few forumers commented that certain brand/model of WC do not have strong flush. How can I test this? The shops I visited for WC shopping mentioned that all their models are the same and only difference is in the design. So far, I am only doing the sit testing to see if I feel comfortable.

Is your electrician from your ID? Does he do freelance work? Is his work of good quality? If yes, can you PM his contact?

    Thanks.

  7. I am looking for room doors, main door and main gate. When do you intend to place a deposit? I have not decided on the company yet. So far, visited Yontat. Didn't like the service. I went with my ID and no staff attended to us. My ID went to ask for information on a door and was told what is there is there, kinda of reply (based on my ID).

Have you been to Siong Door? Is there service better there?

  8. Hi fellow forumers,

I need your inputs on where I can purchase affordable, durable and reasonably good quality appliances and accessories for the kitchen and bathrooms. I have sourced around and my opinions are as follows. Kindly help to provide your inputs based on your experience.

    Kitchen

    Cooker Hood & Hob

I have been looking for cooker hood, hob and built-in ovens. The common brand in a number of shops are Turbo, Techno and EF. There was one shop I visited that sold Rinnai also, another shop that sold Ellane as well, and another (Hoe Kee) that sold Aerogaz too.

I understand that EF is made in China. The other brands are of mixed manufacturing site. Some models are made in Italy, some in China as well. So hard to tell apart. Based on your experience, kindly share which brand cooker hob, hood and built-in oven is reliable and affordable. (P.S. I have removed Bosch from my list due to cost & Mayer-Artiston had limited selections in their showroom to consider).

I am considering Ellane (due to concealed part below the hobs, so that liquid spillage is easier to clean. I am also considering Turbo and Techno due to the price. But I am not sure which to select. One sales guy mentioned to choose those hob with brass material, instead of steel, due to durability.

    Oven

As for oven, I am leaning toward built-in oven (beginner), but one saleslady recommended to get counter version (brand is Rowenta). I have not used a built-in oven before and I intend to use one in the new house. So what will you recommend - built-in or counter top?

    Kitchen Sink & tap

I am looking at double sink with a normal tap. Do you have any recommendations where I can purchase affordable quality? I have tried those shops at Level 3 in IMM but they are expensive! Any recommendations?

    Bathrooms

Again, I have been to IMM to look at bathroom accessories, including WCs, sinks, taps, mirrors with cabinets, rails, holders, etc. The prices are out of my budget for 2 bathrooms. Anyone can suggest a place to shop for reasonably priced bathroom accessories, including WCs & sinks? I am not looking for designer items or fancy items as my bathrooms are rather small.

On a side note, I am wondering if you can recommend companies/suppliers who can replace main door/gates/bedroom doors & the windows/grilles. I wrote to a few companies but no replies.

    Appreciate your help!

  10. One of the IDs from 3D Innovations contacted me via WhatsApp. He got my contact when I requested for a quote via a website, where any ID companies can see the requests and contact for quotes. He included some pictures of completed renos before I even replied to his message. But in one of the pictures, there was a watermark of another competitor ID company. When I asked him if both companies are related, he said no and asked why? He commented another customer also asked the same question. When I told him of the watermark, he remarked that the picture was sent by his customer and he sent random pictures for me to view.

I am surprised that the random pictures are not 100% theirs. In the end, I didn't meet up with him.

Another experience is that, after this incident, I went for my 1st appointment at HDB Hub. After the appointment, I walked past 3D Innovations office opposite HDB Hub. I was browsing through their portfolio outside the shop. There was one guy inside the shop and there was no other customer. He saw me but did not come out at all. So I guess, some ID companies are not hungry.

  11. Hi all, i got a referral id from my friend saying his service and worksmanship is not bad
Well i have to agree he is pretty friendly & his services is pretty good, clearing my doubts on most things i ask.
Unlike some ids when you asked too many questions, they get annoyed and just brushed it off.
He made an effort to come down to my place to discuss about the quotation despite my last min calling
This is the quotation he gave me, is it reasonably priced? Thanks in advance

You can try asking your ID to waive off the charges for installing of toilet accessories. Most IDs can absorb this. You can use the $70 to buy the toilet accessories. Just a suggestion.

  12. I think there is a mistake quoted on this item (Haulage and clear debris 200) it should be more than $900

$900 is too much for the haulage and clear debris. Usually between $200 to $400+. The highest quote I received from ID for this was $500.
