    Thanks! :D

Part 1 of taobao item came on Friday evening, the remaining items were delayed due to random custom inspection -.-

Was glad that the trolley came, it was useful during this weekend as we arrange for alot deliveries to come.
    - Coffee Table from Courts
    - Shower/Basin stuffs from Hansgrohe
    - Bombshelter rack from RackSolutions were also up, we top up to the 2.1m height, so we can put stuffs at the higher tier.
    - also requested for NST Curtain to come give a quote. (they paste their ad all over the lift, so decided to just try calling them)

Samples were brought, and we selected the stuffs fairly quickly. Not sure if it's expensive, but here's the price:
$1190 for Day+Night curtain for MBR and Living, Roller Blind x 1, Venetian Blind x 1.

Any one else got other lobang?

still waiting for carpentry and im so tired of waiting right now! everything is just coming to a standstill, plus due to the long holiday in china, my taobao stuff are also delayed so i decided to go tile shopping at hafary. i wonder if anyone goes to hafary alone? haha. i didnt need them for tiling works, i just wanted to use them as coasters and pot holder. i would have bought from taobao but majority of these sellers do not sell the tiles loosely, so hafary it is!

these marble print hexagonal ones are so pretty. to my surprise there isnt any minimum purchase so i bought 6 pcs. am planning to do some DIY work by painting gold geometric lines on them so i can use it to glam up my vanity table. am really a sucker for marble and gold looking things. these tiles are from italy and is $7.30 psf, so it works out to about $3 per piece. still pretty affordable i would say.

i also bought some matte black ones, these are from china and is only $1.20 each!

i think i will be doing quite a few DIY stuff like using woodgrain contact paper to do a herringbone pattern for my bookcase, or some ikea hack things so mine isnt like a typical HDB reno. hopefully the hard work pays off.

very nice. i wanted to buy from Hafary the other time, but didn't ask if they sell loose pieces. Good to know! Might drop by there and get it.
Mind sharing the item code or something?

@Pooroldman I have not decide the switches, any advice whether it is better to use switch installed by installer or connect to switch that HDB installed? :)

As for your second question, do you mean the cement screeding?

@Clarence Lye  Thanks for your clarification! Is this cement screeding?

@Songz Yea I like woody tiles.. How come it looks like vinyl haha?

Actual photos taken at the shop, this is the colour of the tiles under natural sunlight. :)

Not the cement screeding but the cement layer underneath the tiles.

    Piece of Advice:

We bought a set of "Marble" bathroom set from Taobao (refer to link below). Product turned out to be melamine instead (refer to photo). Upon checking the link again, we failed to realised that the weight of the product would have given it away. Guess we were too excited to buy something so beautiful ... ... if only we had been more diligent :bangwall:

icant live with white switches too, but no choice la. the original switches probably still have 10-15 on the wall, to remove is just abit wasted. i saw another renotalker spray painted those casings black, but still would have to remove them! how is the schneider series different from the legrand ones?

ehh.. the switch design is different.
Both are of different design so cannot compare them together. More of a preference.

Schneider most commercial places uses like office, MBS, etc.

Legrand: bigger rocker switch, works the same like MK but nicer finish and branding. Quality wise is better than MK.
Schneider: has a led indicator, nicer and better "click" quality when u on the lights. (tends to be irritating and noisy overtime..?)

haha ...i also selected top floor, can put ceiling fan in toilet since so much space ....lol

ceilingfan ah? toilet need to be so windy meh? :D

One question , like to know if can do false ceiling in toilet since height too tall ?

can do false ceiling, but ididntwanted due to cost and it's not a need as i'm not doing any down light.
and also you will need to use the better material (calcium silicate) for false ceiling due to moisture for a longer lasting false ceiling.

I am surprised that there are two waste pipes in your service yard. I thought HDB has moved those unsightly pipes to the air-con ledge. But the good thing is that you don't have any pipe in the bathroom.

it's only my block that has these unsightly pipes at both side of the service yard. (1 on the left of service yard, 1 on the right of service yard).
Other blocks has only 1 pipe at the service yard.

Also.. no idea why everytime my words get stick together when i have added a space.. any idea? zz

oh wow! really? ididnt know top floor no partition board, i only know the ceiling is higher, is it? then where do the toilet pipes go?

@matchalatte haha no pipes. becos my waste water will go downstairs, and downstairs will have the pipes. LOL. :sport-smiley-004::sport-smiley-004:

And yes.. top floor ceiling is 2.8m. other floors are 2.6m.
actually top floor we bo hua, we pay more for top floor and we have to pay for box up cos there's no partition board. But at least no pipes.

thanks! i think we have a similar love for grey lol. unfortunately no black switches for me. i was toying with the idea of buying but that would mean having to change the existing switches in the house like heater/light & data pt ones. my contractor wants to charge me for labor, because according to him the plates are cheap, its the labor that is expensive  im absolutely not going to live with some black some white switches so...yalor.

waa.. u sure you don't want to change all..? i cannot live with the white switches, so i'm changing ALL of them. ~$$$~ :~
I'm going for the schneider series thou, legrand not too bad butle wife didn't like it. :dunno:

finally the carpenter came over last tues and did the measurements, so now im just waiting veryyy patiently for my carpentry. just realized i did not mention much about my carpentry at all, i clean forgotten about it! been just shopping and shopping on taobao these days. therefore i dug out my beautiful "3D" drawing that my contractor did on sketchup the other time at his office.

from left : low cabinet at service yard; top & bottom cabinet on one side of the kitchen; tall unit for fridge and two ovens on the other side.

to be honest ididnt need any 3D drawings since i have very strong sense of design so i pretty much was able to visualize the end result. and also i did my own 3D plan on the roomle app already, so this is something additional and nice to have, but actually not necessary.

i will be having 2 colored laminates for my kitchen cabinets, woodgrain and dark grey. i totally dig this two toned look, and here are some inspiration pics for reference :

im also having lots of drawers at the seemingly impossible places like below the sink and hob simply because i cannot stand the look of long cabinets that open outwards. i think it annoys my contractor alot because hes been known to be the person around here who does "practical things", but i insist, so he will do it lol. andi will have 4 flip up doors at the top and one of it will disguise the ugly dish rack. i absolutely cant stand the dish rack with a glass door! im anal like that. soim going to disguise it with a normal door that flushes with the rest of the cabinets.

will continue tmrw with my laminate selection!

Lovely colours! Love all the greys and wood. Nice choice of wood tone.
I see the grey/black switches in your 3D, are you going to get the legrand series?

looking good, can't wait for your completed pictures. :good:

  13. Updates on reno:

    1) Pictures of the vinyl flooring by Evorich

Quite pleased that the tile i selected for my kitchen/entrance kerb matches my Amsterdam Eggshell nicely.
If you see the boxed area, it's actually the un-eveness of the woodgrain tile. Appears that this brand of tile is uneven. However it's not very eyesore, so its still alright.

    (Living Area)

    (Bomb shelter:P)

    (Corridor walkway)

    (Bedroom 2)

    (Bedroom 3)

(the transition from Living to Bedroom Vinyl)

Guess what, the jointing between corridor to the MBR is SLANTED:jawdrop::jawdrop:

I used the balance vinyl plank and also the measuring tape to confirm that my eye is not seeing things.

Evorich will come and rectify once my door frame/door is up, so they can get it fix more accurately. Not entirely their fault, it's my ID told them that the door frame will be fixed by me (which in actual fact, ID forgot that it's done by her. *sighs*:dunno: )

    2) Aircon installation completed by Gain City. :good:
Very professional and they achieve the look/layout that i want. Once everything is concealed it will be ok. Although there's alot of people saying not to conceal aircon piping, incase it leaks or whatever.. well i find it difficult to accept the trunking/wiring exposed.

the MBR aircon piping goes through the bedroom behind, this way the aircon can look like just a standalone unit on the wall nicely.

    3) painting completed, pictures can be seen from the other photos above.

    4) momento completed

    Before vs After

    That's all for now.

Tomorrow will be doing the false ceiling/box up (of air con pipings) :yeah:
