  1. We had completed our kitchen reno last month with new flooring and built-in cabinets. The built-in cabinets (full length) are sitting on top of kerb / platform which also hide the floor trap inside one of the cabinet doors. Sitting above the floor trap is a movable cover built by the carpenter which allow us to access the floor trap in the event it is chock. About more than one week after completion of installation of the cabinets, we removed the cover and found that mold / mould was forming on it. We cleaned the cover and replaced it after that. Would have thought this is normal because of moisture from the waste pipe could have caused it but still feel uneasy about this whole thing. Just yesterday, we removed the cover again and sure enough mold / mould was found. Upon inspecting the cabinets, we found some edges have small patches of brownish stuff which could easily be wipe off. Getting more uneasy about this as we had a feeling that mold / mould had start to spread. Is there a way to remove and prevent the mold / mould? What could have caused it apart from that the floor trap is hidden inside? Is it the carpenter's fault? Seems like it is a bad design but wonder if anyone has the same design and does not have such a problem? BTW, the carpenter is not from any of the design companies, he is an individual recommended by a someone, same as the flooring guy who is another independent contractor.
