  5. Being a silent reader (on and off) since 2011, when we first applied for our BTO, I guess it's time for me to make some worthy (I hope) contributions to this community! Having heard of how difficult it was for couples to apply for a BTO flat, we are indeed thankful to be able to secure a mid-level unit on our first try, given that our queue number has exceeded the total no. of units! Well, maybe I should thank those people who applied, but given up their chance. Fast forward to 4 years later in 2015, we finally collected the keys to our first nest in Jan' 2015. We didn't carry out rituals like rolling pineapple, sprinkling of salt in 4 corners or screaming "Huat ah, Huat ah" etc.. Instead, we were snapping away! Having seen my sister's BTO flat, I wasn't expecting much, but it came as a pleasant surprise that it's slightly bigger than what I expected! Hehe! Starting off with a mandatory picture, the Floor plan! In my opinion, it's a rather standard one in these days BTO. Upon entering, this is the view that greeted us.. Living Room. It's pretty Long-ish & square-rish. Up next is the Corridor, leading up to the bedrooms & bomb shelter (double up as storeroom). Okay, that's another standard thing. Realized that I do not have any pictures of the rooms. Actually all of these pictures are taken by the husband, and he said something like, there isn't a need to take as all the rooms looks the same! Hahah! We forgotten about the kitchen too! But I managed to find a saved pic of the kitchen in my gallery. I think it was my neighbour's, which I chanced upon in my project's facebook group. So, the credit of this picture is to him/ her! Being someone who enjoys cooking & baking, this kitchen came as a big disappointment! It's so tiny!! I think this would be a nightmare to people coming from my mums generation, their kitchen is easily 3x of this size? After looking around, we proceed to spend the next hour or so checking defects, but we were quite tired out by the bending up and down in such a warm weather.. All we wanted was a chilling can of drink! So we decided to call it a day, we shall come back another day to continue with the defect checking! Hiak Hiak Hiak!
  6. Hi all, Previously I have started a thread but find it too messy to continue, so I have decided to start a fresh to record down our reno journey. Here's our floor plan: Like many other newbies in renovation, we were clueless on where to start. Went to renovation companies and IDs all over the place and meet up with ID whom friends have recommended. Out of all those, most of them doesn't seems to know how they can contribute to our design or give tips on what to look out for. Its a tiring process repeating ourselves over and over again with each of them... At last, we decided to shout "STOP" and relooked at all those whom we have met up with. After a long talk with wifey, we concluded on the 2 IDs which we were most comfortable with: 1) Space N Living - Sayaka 2) Cottage Craft - Anh Then we went for subsequent rounds of price slashing and discussion with the above IDs. Finally, it was Cottage Craft whom had won my wifey heart. Personally, I felt both IDs were very attentive and have contributed alot to our desired design. But Cottage Craft have the most experience in designing what we wanted, so, we decided to go with them. If anyone is interested in modern simplistic design, I would recommend Sayaka. First, I would like to thank the bro in Renotalk whom put up the this reno-blog: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/topic/62952-a-touch-of-europe/page-2?hl=european It was his blog that led us to the right company to do our dream. So thank you again. So, once we decided that it will be Cottage Craft, we went through another few rounds of price negotiation and design brainstorming with them. Thank you Anh and Daniel for being patience with us (esp. for my wifey since she keeps adding things each time we meet though i keep cutting things to keep our reno cost low ) Just nice while we were finalizing the contract, HDB contractor called to schedule timing for do prep the bedrooms floor.
  7. Ok. Same story as some of the people here. Been hanging around here.. reading and reading. viewing and viewing, envy and envy. Finally decided to create a blog to note down progress, and a page for me to save wonderful links. HEE. So as usual, first thing, floor plan. and these are some requirement that i'm looking at, in my floor plan..
