  1. Hi. Anyone knows a good contractor who can construct something like this?
  2. Any 1 have tiller contractor can PM please. TIA
  3. We were surprised that the same ID we engaged is still with 3D Innovations after 5 years of moving in to our 4 room re-sale flat. That goes to show the morale, stability and productivity of the company. We needed experienced ID / contractors with good management and tried our luck to touch base with Jimmy once again. In case you are looking for a reliable ID that will not blow your budget, pls feel free to contact Mr Jimmy Tan (Sales Manager) of 3D Innovations @ 8571 8531 / jimmy0339@hotmail.com He is based at Bedok Mall Branch but is flexible on schedule and can arrange consultations with you at your convenience. *FYI this is my personal review and i receive no incentive for writing this recommendation* Information as at June 2017 MY REVIEW THAT WAS WAS PREVIOUSLY POSTED. After leaving my request for a free quote in RenoTalk, i received more than 10 phone calls from various IDs. It was quite overwhelming initially when unknown numbers start calling up and introducing their company. I had only a budget of $15k for a re-sale 4RM Flat. Being a newly wed couple, we do not have a big budget after having to pay off the resale flat COV and the wedding expenses can be quite a big plate to finish. We also knew that finding the right ID is so impt as we have heard alot of horror stories from our friends. Out of 10 calls, there was only 1 ID, Jimmy Tan from 3D Innovations that gave us the assurance that with our budget, he can do alot for us, depending on the various elements of reno. We were quite encouraged to hear that and agreed to meet him up. He is a Chinese speaking ID who has impressed us from the very start. As we do not drive, he took the initiative to pick us up from Paya Lebar MRT to the showroom in UBI & vice-versa. He also drove us to the various suppliers to get our home needs. During the past 4 consultations, he was very professional, honest and responsible, gave u a lot of creative & sensible suggestions. He can clearly identify the functions of various spaces and gave us a good visualization through the 3D drawings. Most important thing is-This was done with the best interest on cost-savings for us. Although we exceeded our budget of $15k, we spent a total of $19700. This includes 2 wall features and a false ceiling...and of course the basics like hacking of 2 toilets, changing of kitchen cabinet n built in wardrobe etc...We still find it quite reasonable as he customized to our needs, not just adhering to a standard package. In short, i would say that he is a follow up and follow through ID. He does not recommend unneccesary items to you but instead, assist u to save wherever possible. I would definitely recommend my friends should they required renovation services.
  4. We engaged an established company to assist with our renovation. After the first meeting, the ID turned out to be aggressive and wanted to have his way. He refused to allow us to choose any designs we wanted and insisted that he is the interior designer and that he knows best. He refused to make amendments to the quotation and when we complained to the management about this, they mentioned that we have to agree to whatever they say, they cannot amend the contract and that they cannot re-assign our project to another interior designer. Truly shocking for such a large establishment. They forced us to cancel the contract so that they can walk away and take the easy option. Do not trust this company. They are not interior designers. They are HDB registered but not CASE or RADAC registered. There is no customer service here, they are only after quick bucks.
  5. Hi, I'm new here. We will acquire our flat in Aug. It is a 4A corner unit, resale. We are looking to get a contractor to renovate the unit for us but don't know where and how to start. We've contacted Aian Furniture and Renovation, Henry from Impress 21 and H2o Design. Any other contractors to recommend? We are not Mandarin-speaking. Please also advise us on how to start about. We aren't sure what to do. All we know is that if we hire an ID, they will do everything for us. But we're looking to cut costs. Would appreciate all advice, thank you!

  10. Hi, I am newbie to the forum. I would like to ask for some opinions and recommendations. I am receiving my keys next week, 4 room BTO at Punggol Waterway, and I chose to keep the HDB flooring and tiles. I am going for the parisian chic apartment, the one with moulded wall panels and a gilt gold mirror. However my budget is low at $20k and lower. Here are some HDB BTO french design inspirations: From the blog at http://dayre.me/serenaong/ISBhoTdq38 the designer quoted this design to be around $60-$80k. I also like to take inspiration from another BTO example, From this forum at http://renotalk.com/forum/topic/70330-classic-european-american-mixed-home/?page=4 , on renotalk. This cost about $40k according to the poster. Few key elements that I want to have, is: 1) the wainscoting aka chair rail paneling 2) a classic/shaker kitchen cabinet (not the flat laminate) Any recommendations for contractors? or suggestions? I read that IDs are more costly and that would not help me with my <$20k budget. Thank you in advance.

  15. I personally understand the agony of finding a good responsive & responsible renovation contractor. Since I have found a good one so I was thinking to share it here for anyone looking for a reliable contractor. They were very responsive & even took the extra effort to help me managed my aircon guy who was fixing up the new aircon when I got tied up at work. I recommended them to my brother & friend. Have a look at the photos below to see the final outcome. 17. I would like to warn all home owner looking for contractors. DO NOT engage Space living interior, Extract living. They are from the same boss. His name is Wilson low. He is very inexperience, amature, his attitude is bad. Workmanship for carpentry, electrical works, are more pricy than others. Thw work is sloppy. Wilson main con is bad in managing his sub con. Brush away issues and not attentive to details. Hia concept of measurement is bad. Measurement taken wrongly. Very defensive person. In all, he has no value add, just sales talk. After receiving his payment his attitude changed. Do not engage him. Wilson low. We chat name Sam
  18. I would like to warn all home owner looking for contractors. Space living interior, Extract living. overall experience is bad
  19. Hi forumers Am not a blogger or writer by any means but I do believe in giving back to the community of renotalk who have provided great insights and advice. Also, to give credit where it is due - hence the short shout out to Alan Design who has done a great job doing up my place. Alan is a contractor with 20 years experience and it shows. His professionalism is commendable e.g. short notice meetings on Sundays, late night replies, patience and understanding. While his strengths lie in contracting (vis a vis Design), his workmanship and pricing is one of the best I have seen. What impressed me the most is his insistence on doing things right despite us constantly rushing him (we were doing marble flooring among many others). For those who have clarity of design and are looking for responsible and capable contractors, I cannot recommend him enough. Am in the final stages of touch up and I have no complaints (thus far). Hopefully i can upload some photos once the house is fully done up. In any case, his mobile is 9889 XXXX. Cheers and best to those who are embarking on their renos.
  20. Hi all, I would like to know if it's possible to have renovation bank loan with 2 different contractor. Example Contractor 1 - Quote $10,000 Contractor 2 - Quote $15,000 Reno bank loan of $25,000 Thank you in advance!
  21. Hi all, I've recently just booked my new 4-rm SBF flat and I'll be getting my keys soon. My flat does not comes with flooring for living room and 3 bedrooms. Only HDB default floor and wall tiles in kitchen and 2 toilets. I will be going for resilient vinyl flooring all living room and 3 BRs. Kitchen and toilet floor and wall I'm going for homogeneous tiles. I will be appealing for HDB cement screeding in order for me to lay the vinyl flooring. I will also plan to hack down partial of the kitchen wall and 1st bedroom wall. Can any laojiaos here provide me a checklist of the renovation process I should check or receive from renovation contractors? (not going for ID) Some people say flooring goes first, electricity goes first, wetwork/masonry works goes first, plumbing or aircon piping etc. But I am not too sure for my case. The renovation should involves the following, if I'm not wrong: 1) hacking of walls, 2) vinyl flooring installation / homo tiles overlaying, 3) aircon piping, 4) aluminium/glass work for hacked walls, 5) kitchen table top, 6) blinds, 7) electricity/lightings, 8) carpentry (kitchen cupboards, wardrobes etc) 9) painting (walls), 10) plumbing I'm not too sure which one should comes before/after each. Please feel free to add in to the checklist. For all your advices! Thanks.
  22. Ok Sea Horizon just gotten its TOP that's means to say I will be getting my keys in a couple of days. I have met up with 2 designers (a lot of hassle) cause you need to repeat yourself again and again about what you want. I really 佩服 (salute) those who meet up with so many designers, I really cannot do that. After 2, I already want to give up especially when you come across renowed Interior Design Firm that recruit fresh intern/green designers. My experience was quite unpleasant. 1) I don't like being serve by someone inexperience (though they are designers but they are of different level) 2) I think I have better designs than what they commonly proposed (I can faint when they show me a design of a bags showcase something you can buy ready made and its definitely more beautiful than the one they proposed) 3) You guys go try out and you will know 要吐血 (vomit blood). 1st ID go MIA, maybe I think he was not able to deliver what I wanted as he kept proposing their common package. What I wanted wasn't in their package so whenever I text him he always told me he was busy and will get back to me and eventually go MIA..... I don't want to mention which company but I do think there are many out there (just observe when you go exhibition, there's a huge group of green ID sitting near their booth just like they were waiting to be slaughter). 4) 2nd ID was really expensive even on the estimation of what I want from paper. I eventually decide on my contractor instead (recommended by my friend's sister who did her 'The Manhatten' project in Simei) Let me try posting my floor plan, don't really know how to do it.....
  23. Will just like to share my experience with the above mentioned company with other readers. So they can be aware of this irresponsible company who claimed to be in the market for over 30years I signed up a package of window grills with them at Singapore expo exhibition. Typical scandalous very quick in receiving payment. I have to make 2 phone call to them after the agreed date to ask for site measurement. Installing was without much hiccup. But within 2 months of installing, the window grill lock came off. The whole lock came off. The quality is already lousy. But the after service is even worst. Never met any contractor so irresposible. I made the 1st call to inform about the fault. Told next week will call me to arrange for appointment. The whole week went pass and nobody did any call to me. Made the 2nd call. Was told will come on either coming monday or tuesday. Again, nobody came and nobody called. Made my 3rd call on the wednesday to make a fuss. Was told the next day thursday somebody will come and they recorded my mobile number wrongly. OK. Number verified. Todays' already thursday and still nobody came and nobody called. Tomorrow will be my 4th call to the company regarding the faulty lock this post is for ppl to avoid this Ho Ho Engineering & Renovations Work
