  1. Hi everyone, Can I ask a favour of those who have done up their renovation of their HDB flats.I'm looking to buy a resale flat but would like to change the location of the main door. I have attached the floor plan, as you can see the red area is where I would prefer my main door to be.Does anyone have an experience of HDB approving this type of request?I already emailed HDB and they want me to purchase the flat first and submit the contractor drawings....Let me know you're experiences!
  2. This is our second HDB unit. As I recalled we were issued floorplan when we collected our keys many years ago, but this time round, it does not come as standard. Or am I missing something? Anyone? Can we request it or do we have pay HDB? And if I did managed to get the floorplan, is there anyone in Singapore that can convert it to a 3d model which I can edit with CAD software or something? Hope to find some answers or pointers here. Thanks!
  3. Hi, I just like to check with you all whether it is advisable to install Ceiling Fan with Light for HDB with low ceiling height of 2.4M, any recommended Ceiling fans?
  4. Any comment for above price? Get it from a contractor recommended by friend, any idea for it?
  5. Hi! We’re looking for a HDB flat/Private Residence to film in for an upcoming commercial that will be aired in Singapore. Preferably a 1st floor (or low floor), 3-5 room flat which is empty. If it’s furnished, we would gladly move everything out to storage and put everything back when the shoot is done. The shoot will take place for about 2 weeks between mid June to early July. We will also provide a fee to use the apartment, up to $350 per day if selected. We will also be looking at Interior designers that could provide assistance in building props for the house. Interested parties, please feel free to drop me an email at jake.lee@smallshop.sg with details of the flat, and we’ll get in contact to arrange for viewing of the house. Should you require further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you! 9. Hi, am new to the home reno process.. couldn't find some info here so would like to clarify w kind souls please We got a 4a resale flat, 24 years old. Thinking of hacking away part of a wall, top glass bottom wall. Understand from some other posts that we need to engage a PE and hack away the whole wall, then rebuild again..? Is this true for old flats also, cos old flats don't use the prefab wall? Also, if need to engage PE, can someone advise on the cost and if any contacts pls?
  10. Our 5 rm BTO is now already undergoing renovation. Tiling works and wiring are in progress. Pardon me but let me do some back dating work here. Renovation is really more hectic than we though it would be! We'll let the pictures do the talking. Here is our floor plan. Very typical 5-rm floor plan. Had thought of hacking the wall between bedroom 3 and living room so as to make a, very popular now, semi-enclosed study room complete with glass doors and black frame. This would very much fit into the modern scandi feel. But then did away with it after consultation with our feng shui master. Decided to do away with the wall between our master and bedroom 2 instead! [bEFORE] [AFTER] Much space and light after. Didn't know how much space was the wall hiding! Since I am in the mood of hacking, why not just remove the hideous white plastic box with mesh-like PVC material covering the drainage in the master toilet. Somebody may like it, somebody don't. This was an inital idea that alarmed our ID a bit but then was accepted cause it fitted our design! Alright the picture doesnt do it justice. But trust us, it's a lot bigger with the damned box removed. The black stuff is preparation work for our overlay~~ That's the update for another time..
  11. Dear all, I just bought original HDB handle and my contractor said they don't know how to replace this handle. Could anyone advise who could replace this?
  12. hello all, i'm new to this as introduced by my friend to this forum. as i will be shifting into a resale towards the end of the year or in jan 2016 would like to know if there's anyway i can get a floor plan? the owner who passed me their original is decades old already. also, would be glad for a head start on what i can look out for and how long should i plan in advance to look for my contractor or ID... my concern is hidden costs if i were to sign an ID before getting my keys as to a few horror stories i've heard from friends.. or should i wait till i get my keys? to get a accurate quotation... heard a lot of extra costs esp for resale. kindly advise... thanks
  13. My unit below ceiling leaking not from their toilet but middle of their master bedroom. A HDB officer came to my flat and tell me my toilet flooring have to be hacked to do waterproofing, and this only after spending less than 2 minutes in my flat. Real efficient. Was told that it will be share cost of 25% upper unit, 25% lower unit and 50% HDB. Then came the official letter that states the share cost only includes fixtures originally provided by HDB. My flat is 27 years old and HDB expects everything to be the same even the hinged plastic toilet door! If the waterproofing and the structure concrete can even weaken (spalling concrete), HDB expect their original fixture since 1988 to be in perfect condition and will never be replace! For those who installed glass panel cubicles, bathtub and basin cum cabinet or marble vanity top, you gonna faint! HDB package includes hacking, waterproofing, laying only their tiles(you can choose the color only), replace with a standard pedestal. Any other things else, the upper unit flat owner...oops...lessees(I was reminded by the HDB officer) will have to bear the cost of replacing all these. If you do not want their HDB contractor to do the replacement, you will still have to pay for the removal of these fixtures not originally provided by HDB! Anyone out there experience this issue being the upper unit? By the way, was told that when replacing the 1st layer of wall tiles, I m not able to use my own color wall tiles but have to use their floor tiles as wall tiles too. Please let me know if any of you are able to use your own wall tiles (of course, you must have your own tiles available).

  21. This t-blog chat is meant for documenting the process of both my HTB and myself on how we went about getting the resale flat with HDB loan, finding the renovation guys, the renovation and hopefully all the way till the house is ready when we get married in November. Yes, this sounds like more than a handful and very high probability of driving someone insane. I used to document all these in my "Little Brown Book" which is getting out of hand. Like literally. Scraps of paper spilling from the edges of the book and tags that no longer able to serve its purpose if i really were to tag them down. So a sneak peek of how my "Little Brown Book" looks like: I happened to talk to a previous Event Organizer which my company had engaged when i served the Company Welfare committee and we chanced upon talking about looking for a housing agent. The very nice lady, Carol recommended me Gilbert. I had told Carol to provide my contact number to Gilbert and i receive the phone call the very next day. We got to know that Gilbert is from K*****f**n*. Originally my HTB and myself were thinking, doesnt knightfrank does more commercial than hdb? But well, lets give it a go and see how well it goes. We were almost sure what we wanted and told him our requirements i.e.: Which townWalking distance to MRTMin floors and aboveOnly corner unitSizing of the flatBudgetDoor facing (with the advice from the fortune teller previously at farm mart, now at pioneer point) The next week, we met up and saw at least 7, sorry it is 9 houses that fit all the requirement in 6 hours. A marathon that got us really exhausted but we saw two houses that caught our eye. One is fully renovated but shows some signs of design fault with regards to aircon ventilation that got the wall a little murky in the Master Bed Room which i fear for. And the other one is just a plain old house with no built ins at all and it is just clean and spacious though areas that needs to be done, needs to be done say for toilets and kitchen. We picked the second option which we called it "our place" and told Gilbert to express our interest to purchase the house, the whole buying thing got a little bit exciting as there were other buyers who are interested in the place. But we got it. (HE HE HE ) It is a spacious 5I which is very boxy and filled with beams across the house.Floor plan as below: And it is time to source for Renovators....
  22. Hi Guys Need your opinion and views on a particular issue. Currently I am waiting for my 1st Appointment to pick a unit under the SOB. We have decided to select a 5rm 'Repurchased Flat".. The problem is that, when we went to the unit to view it from outside. We saw that there are tons of debris.. It seems that they hack away the falls ceiling, kitchen cabinets, cornice and etc. All those stuffs are still in the house and it looks a complete mess. My question is, 1) Will the HDB clear all of the debris/rubbish inside the house? 2) The bedroom wall beside the Master bedroom wall was hacked. Will HDB reconstruct the wall to separate the room? Thanks in advance!!
  23. I had sign up with A&D for my 5rm resale flat renovation and my ID is Elijah Yeo Renovation completed for almost 1 month and I'm very satisfied with the work done, some minor rectification that need to be done are done. Elijah was punctual for all our meetings. He kept his promises and knowing that we had to get the renovation done quickly, he went all out to help us achieve this. We were away for a week and he made sure that work was done properly while we were away. He's very easy to work with and helpful - he volunteered to wait for the delivery of our equipment eventhough it's not his job. When we texted him at 10 plus at night on a weekend, he even called us back to give us feedback. Afterall, the job was done so smoothly and without any fuss.
