  1. A beautifully designed room built around the conceptual idea of a black and white simplistic modern design which also reimburses itself in classical abstract lines. The contrast in lighting helps with bringing out the details of the room from the art pieces and interior decor material. Spotlights help bring out a gallery perspective on the elements of the room and can be seen to be a good way of completing the experience A stunning set of classical furniture flavored with artistic elements which are used to highlight the atmosphere of the room without taking too much away from the cleanliness aspect of the whole picture. Even the kitchen has an artistic feel to it that is thrown out of place with the floral-abstract wallpaper contrast and the use of a black fridge. The bunk bed is built in and non-removable with a hard thick design that matches the environment of the whole home. Opposing walls are textured or painted differently to bring out contra without much distraction from the main purity theme of the overall design. We can see here again that subtle black and white decor is the best preference to keep everything in line with the main theme of the design. Lastly, we have a slightly darker shade of wallpaper with a repeated square pattern housing abstract art and design cues from energy and nature.

  3. Just to share my experience. I've just moved into my newly renovated (resale) flat 3 months ago. The ID I engaged is very responsible & knowledgeable on the renovation details. As we've no idea on the theme we wanted, he provided us the ideas & recommendation that make our house very cozy & nice-looking, and meet our preference & requirement. He's also able to point out the concerns & provide better alternatives for some of our ideas which we thought it's better. At the end of the renovation, it's proven that his ideas are much better than our original thinking. Glad that we chose to listen to his advices. And, because of false promise from the flat seller (promised early move out for us to start renovation earlier), we ran short of time for the renovation. Also, we've made last-minute decision on the scale of the renovation (at first worried about budget but finally decided to do everything at one go). All these problems were resolved by my ID & we managed to move in according to our original scheduled time. Best of all, quality of the renovation is not compromised. And even now, 3 months after renovation completed & moved in, my ID is still very helpful whenever I met some minor problems & solve the problems free of charge. Do let me know if anyone is interested. I can pass you his contact & you can get the consultation & quotation from him free of charge.
  4. Now that finally my house is fully renovated, I can share my reno experience with many newlywed couples out there. To begin with, my house in Punggol is really small and doesnt seem to tally with the price i paid! Lighting Shopping Like many folks, I went to Balestier Rd and Jalan Sultan to shop for my lightings, and o yes, even JB. JB has slightly cheaper lighting but limited designs. There is a whole array of lighting, ranging from traditional no-design lights to designer lightings in Balestier and JS. But I would say the prices there are really steep. Thankfully, my designer friend recommended me a local online shop selling very beautiful lights. But the only bad thing is that I dont get to see the physical product myself. However, I was assured by my designer friend that the online shop sells exactly the same products as some of the shops along Balestier and the quality is not bad. The prices they offered are really much cheaper than the shops in Balestier, about 50-300 bucks less for same lighting! But, the online shop does not have many choices on ceiling lights. In the end, I got 2 lightings from the online shop and 3 ceiling lights from the shop in JS. Service. The shop in JS is big. But I feel it lacks of quality service. The shop salesperson refused to test the lights for me on the spot but told me that I could bring in to change if the lighting cannot work. On the day of installation, my contractor found that one of the ballasts was not working. Luckily, my kind contractor changed the ballast for me FOC, otherwise, I have to carry it back to get it repaired and carry back again! On the other hand, the online shop person assured me the day prior to delivery that all my lightings are working via pictures on whatapps. The quality of the products is good and I am thankful that I didnt get chopped by the bloodsuckers in Balestier! ID Firms Many ID firms are expensive especially those that advertise a lot. Personally, I find that the interior design of a home has to be thoroughly discussed with the contractor/designer. I heard some generalise the scope of work and demand for more money after work. So please be kiasu and be more specific with the scope. I am fortunate to have my close friend as a designer and we have many discussions together. Through her, I was able to get cheaper renovation works as compared to other ID firms (apparently she has her own contractors!). She knows exactly what I want and I am very satisfied with the job. All the best, home owners!

  6. Hi there ! As the title says I don't normally recommend services publicly, but I feel this firm I've dealt with could save some homes as it did mine My fiance found this guy (an interior designer) from his extended group of friends while out at the pubs one night (Not a great start to the story hah !), anyway we moved into our new condo about 5 months later. Did our rounds and got quotations from afew firms, thought we'd give our new "friend" a try as well. He gave us probably one of the best quotations out of those we'd already gotten. A main selling point for us was that this was a long-standing family business and it's being run by a son/dad combo, we're adamant that family businesses do very good work or else they wouldn't be around for that long. Other factors that led to our decision was his wide portfolio of projects, modern outlook and clean workmanship. We got to work, and although our friend wasn't free to meet for the most part, the employee he hooked us up with was extremely insightful and cautioned us on certain decisions, even showed us some of the current trendy layouts. We ended up realising our vision didn't feel as modern as the current trend so we took most from his portfolios haha. So all was well and his workmanship was excellent, the part that really threw me into recommending his services was that he took it upon himself and his firm's contractors to fix some minor existing problems in the condominium and when we asked him how much these fixes costed, he didn't change his quote and merely laughed it off saying "That's what full package means ! Don't worry about it". The least I could do to repay this good service is to share it with the community, to be fair he did say "if you have any friends who need, must say me okay ?". Would be very glad to share his contact and save some other people's homes too haha !
  7. Hi all, Just here to briefly share my pleasant experience with my ID. I had compared several ID firms previously but ended up choosing this ID which I do not regret! I stumbled upon this ID firm when I was making my rounds around several buildings with all the ID firms while looking around the showrooms. (BTW good to get a few quotations from several firms before deciding!!) I was pretty skeptical as the design firm looked small scale but approached them anyways, as i wanted more options. I ended up choosing this ID as I felt that designer was sincere and there was chemistry . Other ID kept hard selling and just wen through their usual sales pitch with a general quotation... My ID had no qualms about asking what are my requirements and slowly went through all the areas with us then drafting up a customized quotation. It was also good that our designer was understanding and helped to alter the designs according to fengshui I had requested haha. We kept bothering her with questions and changes (oops) but she was patient and provided opinions and made changes accordingly. Final result of the house was great! Worth it although it wasn't the cheapest quotation but it matched market rate so it was acceptable. But maybe its due to a lot of inbuilt and carpentry that I wanted to get done hahaha.

  9. Hey all, I finally decided on an ID for my new DBSS at Centrale at Tampines in last month. It was so tiring seeing one after another but I learnt a lot from my experiences and decided to choose this ID as she was earnest, knowledgeable and willing to take on my demands. Most importantly, very responsive. Also, their price was not the cheapest but the most reasonable and recommended me things that are not the most expensive but most suited to my case. I won't recommend them till my works are completed just to make sure. Will update as works progress. 14. One of the biggest fears people may have about natural stone is the maintenance it requires. With many individuals increasingly turning to the use of natural materials in the home, granite has become the countertop of choice. Synthetic solid surface materials are no match for the richness, depth, and incredible performance of real granite. Unlike laminates and solid-surface materials, a hot pot or frying pan has no effect on granite’s mirror-like finish. Most importantly, by choosing a granite countertop you not only give your kitchen everlasting performance and beauty, but you also increase the value of your home. Granite is also a very hard mineral and is virtually impervious to abrasions, impact damage and heat. However, the material is prone to cracking due to mechanical stresses caused by repeated heating and cooling. While the seams in between slabs provide some leeway for this repeated expansion and contraction, it is best to keep granite away from sources of large heat fluctuations. You’ll find caring for your natural stone is easy. The best care you can give your natural stone is preventive care. By following a few suggestions, your countertops will last a lifetime while maintaining a brand-new appearance. BASIC CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE 1. AVOID USING CLEANING PRODUCTS WITH ANY KIND OF ACID OR ABRASIVE. Avoid using harsh cleaning agents that contain strong acids/alkaline (e.g. bleach, glass cleaners, ammonia, degreasers) or abrasives (e.g. powdered ceramic/bathroom cleaners) as it can cause the sealant to discolour and scratch. Warm water, mild dishwashing liquid, and soft clean cloth are generally all that’s needed to maintain your granite countertop surface. 2. AVOID SUBJECTING YOUR GRANITE COUNTERTOP TO HEAVY WEIGHTS AND PRESSURE. While hard, granite surfaces are brittle and you should not stand, kneel on, sit or stack heavy objects onto your countertops as they could crack or break. This doesn’t mean that granite is fragile, however, and it’s perfectly capable of supporting microwaves, dish holders and other moderately heavy objects. 3. DO NOT PLACE HOT PANS OR OTHER OBJECTS DIRECTLY ON YOUR COUNTERTOPS. Again, hot objects can cause the sealant to discolour (mainly in dark granites) and/or cracking. Always use a protective barrier between any hot object and granite such as trivet or mat. Unsealed granite countertops do not have this problem, but are highly porous and come with other problems. 4. WIPE OFF SPILLS AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. Sealed granite countertops are surprisingly resilient to stains from citric acid, coffee tea, alcohol, or wine. However, as a preventive measure, wipe up any spills on the countertops within a reasonable amount of time and do not let liquid sit on the countertop overnight. 5. Watch out for oil stains. Granite is most prone to staining by oil – be careful not to place any pots or frying pans with oil traces on the bottom on the countertop surface. Blot oil and acid spills as soon as they happen, and clean with mild soap and warm water to avoid any harm to your countertops. If the oil stains remain, there is a special cleaning procedure for the removal of deep-seated, time-set dirt and grime. A general poultice with baby or baking soda and water is the best remedy. First, moisten the surface of the granite with the same liquid that made the paste. Next, apply the poultice paste to the granite surface about half an inch thick. Tape plastic sheeting over the poultice area, and allow it to sit for 48 hours. Remove the poultice with a spatula, rinse the cleansed area with clean water, wipe off excess water, and allow the surface to dry. 6. RINSE SOAP AND WASHING DETERGENTS OFF TO PREVENT LIME BUILD UP. Rinse with hot clean water on a regular basis and use a paper towel to dry. Another way to remove lime build up , soap scum, stains or dried spills, is to use a straight razor blade in a gentle scraping motion. Do not use lime removal products or cleaning products that contain ammonia, as this will affect the seal on the stone. 7. AVOID HITTING THE SURFACE WITH HARD OBJECTS. Chips in granite are not a common occurrence. When they do happen, chips are most often caused by banging something into the edge of the countertop. Take care when you handle heavy pots and pans around your granite profiles as these are the most prone to cause chipping. If a chip does occur and you find the piece that chipped out, hold on to it. Most of the time it can be epoxied back into place. 8. APPLY SEALERS. The use of sealers is an excellent preventive measure and will encourage the preservation of your granite countertops. Some granite can be very porous. Sealers fill in natural pores and repel spills on the surface, radically reducing the rate of absorption. This gives you time to wipe spills away before they have a chance to penetrate your stone. After the installation process, the granite must be sealed. We recommend a re-application of this sealer annually, or more often for some light granites, to fully maintain the luminosity and avoid stains. Some dark-colored, dense granites (browns, blacks) do not require sealing. When the water or liquid spilled on your countertop fails to bead up when splashed, or you begin to notice a water darkening spot that dries out, this is an indication that your countertop needs to be re-sealed. 9. AVOID STORING CHEMICALS ON THE SURFACE. It’s risky to store chemicals on the surface of your granite countertop in case of spillage. This includes cooking oil, hair products, chemical cleaners and cosmetics.
