  1. Hi all, we are currently planning our renovation for our home, and are thinking of installing cement tiles (the ones with the morrocan designs) on the kitchen floor and bathroom walls (as a shower feature). I've read that the tiles can stain or chip if not installed properly. Has anyone used these? How are the tiles now, and have you had any issues? Any tips to share about installation or maintenance? I've heard they need two coats of sealant, and you can't use harsh cleaners. Thanks in advance!
  2. Hi all, I'm looking for about 20 pieces of plain ceramic tiles (size can be from 5x5cm to 10x10cm) for an art and craft projects for kids. Wonder if any members happen to have leftover some from renovation? Thanks in advance!

  6. What is the maintenance cost of Granite Tiles? Good material for home use? What are the other alternatives to Granite?
  7. Shoutout to residents of Punggol Topaz! Hello there! We have over-purchased the floor tiles for our kitchen and toliet from OES construction and would like to sell them off to owners who are currently doing their renovations and require these tiles. We have about 20 spare tiles each. Anyone who is interested can reply here or PM me. Thank u!
  8. Hi All Bubbles are coming out of the grouts in my dining area floor tiles. It does not seem to be water because after a while it will be solidified. Please see the pictures below. Anyone has encounter this problem before? Is there any ways to prevent the bubbles from coming out, besides hacking away the tiles and re-do them? Thank you in advance for the response!
  9. Hi guys! I would like to introduce you a non slip floor treatment which I used for my toilet and really impressed me and my husband. I just want to share this to prevent and protect you and your family from the slippery tiles we have. My husband and I highly recommend their treatment especially for owners who have elderly and children at home! Any enquiries you may whatsapp/text Muhamad (8230 5886), regarding flooring that will be compatible to your area.
  10. Hi all, I need some advice regarding to my hdb toilet floor tiles. They seems to be popped out and I saw some cracking lines. It affects like 8 tiles only. What to do if encountered this issue? Or any recommended contractor to fix this?
  11. Hi All, Not sure if anyone can advise us. We are in a bit of a dilemma here. We recently contracted an Interior Design Firm for our new 5rm HDB flat reno. After the tiles are laid, we realised that there are over 70 hollow tiles scattered at various parts of the house (of which 44 of them are over 30% hollow and at least 20 pieces of them are 80% hollow). Can anyone help and advice what we should do? Option 1: Let it be, maybe they won’t pop or crack so easilyOption 2: Spend another 10k and hack away and re-lay all the tiles of the entire house as it’s impossible to cut the 70 hollow tiles individually.Option3: Ask the ID to rectify the 70 hollow tiles – the concern we have is that we don’t have any confident that he can actually do the rectification as it was an horrible nightmare experience working with the contractor. Every work items he had done was wrong and in rectifying them, he spoiled other good items. Eg: he built a door frame that is slanted, he try to rectify, still slanted, only the third time it is ok; but by rectifying the door frame (he hit the wall so many times), my bedroom wall cracked in three areas. When he hacked away the HDB wall (with HDB approval), he hacked away 1/5 of the hdb structural beam along with the wall; he buried wired that he not even sure if its “live” or not under the tiles; he pour chunks of cement down the pipes and toilet bowl; built the sink pipes at the wrong place, etc.Option 4: Ask other ID firm to see who is kind enough to pick up the tab at a cost lower than hacking away and re-lay all the tilesAny kind homeowner or renovator can advise us on what to do? Many Thanks.

  13. I am thinking of renovating both my HDB toilet. I am staying in a 5 room HDB, 110sqm. 1. To overlay master bathroom flooring and wall tiles without replacing the toilet bowl 2. To overlay common bathroom flooring and wall tiles without replacing the toilet bowl Any tiles expert, kindly advice whether this is the reasonable price? Contractor give me a quotation of $11,000 just to overlay without any hacking job to be done. My budget is $7000 to overlay. Any BIG PRICE difference if I go for hacking of the toilet floor and wall tiles and replacing new toilet with water proofing? What is the BIG difference between the 2?
  14. Just collected my keys for my BTO last week. Called up HDB to check whether they provide FREE Cement Screed but this program had been stop No choice but to start calling contractor to ask for quotation. 1st contractor quoted me $2400 for 3 bedroom 2nd contractor quoted me $1200 for 3 bedroom 3rd contractor quoted me $800 for 3 bedroom Why is there such a big differences from the above 3 quotations? Any reliable contractor to recommend me Thank in advance
  15. Hi folks, anyone knows where is a good place to acquire granite stone titles, both regular oblong and irregular kinds as picture? Some samples as follows. Thanks for a heads-up.
  16. Hi All, Anyone have their renovation done by 9 Creation before? I was wanting to get my tiles from Lian Seng Hin as I prefer the simple selection and for similar simple tiles, it cost much cheaper than Hafary, but I was told the company can only get their supply from Hafary. Please advise if anyone managed to get their tile from any supplier other than Hafary. Thank you!
  17. Hi all, My contractor has recommended overlaying vinyl over tiles because of the height difference after knocking down a wall. Has anyone done this? Is it recommended? Or will it pop after a few years of use? Feedback is much appreciated! Thanks

  23. Hi Renotalkers, I'm about to embark on a reno for my 4-rm resale flat kitchen and 2 toilets hack-away and re-do. Got some queries that I need experienced hands to give me ur 2 cents' worth. Haven't chosen ID yet though have spoken with a few firms already. 1. For the kitchen wall at the cabinet area, is it possible for me to do the tiling on only the exposed wall area between the upper and lower cabinets? Or is it a standard procedure to have to tile up the entire wall including the wall behind the upper and lower cabinets? As my kitchen is very big and I plan to run my upper and lower cabinet up to a total length of 40ft, if I only need to tile up the area between the upper and lower cabinets, this would be a significant cost saving. 2. I intend to get the contractor/ID to construct a standard 50mm cement base for the cabinet. Should I do the same for the washing machine and fridge, or is it better to leave them on the tiled kitchen floor and not the base? What are your experiences of the pros and cons of each? Cost savings won't be much as I only allocate 3ft each for fridge and washing machine. 3. My kitchen layout means that my cabinet has an L-shaped corner, which I intend to include a carousel at the corner to "revive" the dead space. If you look at the Ikea kitchen, they have the carousel. Does anyone know if Ikea can come over after the cabinet installation is done and install the carousel? Cos the ID firms so far don't have the type of carousel I want. It seems only Ikea has it. 4. I was thinking of installing a door at the entrance between the kitchen and the living room as I intend to aircon the living room and don't want to over-burden my aircon by making it cool down the kitchen as well. Are there any restrictions (fire-safety or the like?) on putting up doors where there never was a door previously? 5. Lastly, the previous owners are leaving behind a built-in wardrobe in the master bedroom, which I intend to "refresh" by changing hinges, shelves and doors maybe. On top of that I intend to fabricate a small cabinet-cum-bench(10ft) to put below my living room windows to serve as extra storage and seating space. Should I engage a carpenter to do that separately or should I include under my reno package (which I think the ID always takes a cut right?)? Which is cheaper usually? Thanks in advance for all ur patience and help. May you be rewarded in some way or another for your good deed.
