Hello everyone, I am a newbie here, and hope to ask a question to the renovation veterans on this forum. I am thinking of buying an HDB, and plan to do the renovation as indicated in the figure below. What is my chance of getting HDB to approve this renovation plan? I need to know my chance before buying this flat -- if the chance is too low, I might give up on this flat -- since I really want to have a 1.7m long bathtub. I really appreciate your expert opinions on this. Thanks! Alan

Hi, I recently bought a masionette at Tampines Court. It is 25 year old unit and needs some work done. A few questions: 1. The power sockets look old and this got me thinking if I should do a one time re wiring 2. I also want a plumber to come check all the pipes in the house in order to avoid a leakage in future 3. The owner has not installed any AC so I would need to install 5 units 4. Kitchen needs to be broken down and rebuilt 5. Need laminate flooring below and polishing of parquet on second floor 6. Toilet below and two toilets above needs to be broken down and rebuilt 7. Built in wardrobe for 3 rooms 8. Painting Where do I start? What should I do first? I know I can walk in and get quotations from an ID but some inputs for experienced owners who can guide me will be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi, am planning to do full reno, but HIP polling is planned for end of the year. One of the essential items of HIP would be to replace the toilet waste pipes, so am trying to see how to 'design' my toilet works to accomodate HIP. I have some specific questions, hoping experts can reply to this post or via private message 1) Is it possible to reuse the old toilet bowl ? I am not sure how toilet bowls are fixed onto the ground, but if they are just bolted down, perhaps can reuse after the replacement of waste pipe 2) Is it possible to replace the waste pipes without hacking the floor tiles ? If floor tiles need to be hacked, would the whole floor be hacked or just a portion. Concern is the waterproofing 3) There is some mention of liability on the part of owners who do not wish to change the waste pipes - they will be 100% liable should their downstairs neighbour suffer from ceiling water leak coming from my unit (as opposed to 50%:50% share). Can someone share what exactly is the extent ? After all, warranty from HDB is supposed to be x years (I think 5), so what happens after that ? Any other suggestions on how to minimize the 'damage' from HIP would be welcomed. Thanks in advance -

Dear All, I've move in to my new HDB flat for 1 yr and recently I found out that there was water stain marks appearing on the external toilet walls. The toilet area is consider dry area as there is no source of water and no conceal water pipe. Anyone have similar encounters? Appreciate you can share with me how to solve the problem.Lots of thanks.

Wondering if anyone here has any prior experience converting their bathroom and toilets to one that is more elderly friendly. If you do, please share your contacts! This is with regards to a pretty old HDB flat where the bathroom and toilets were separate entities. Some of the features I would like to install; 1) hand rails for the elderly to hold on to in the bathroom and toilet. 2) non-slip flooring 3) a seat that can be folded up when not in use, in the bathroom, under the shower area. 4) Making it easier for a wheelchair to enter the bathroom and toilet (which currently is separated by a ledge) Regards, Terence
