  1. Hi everyone! Looking to transfer/sell our Evorich EvoHERF vinyl package. We have deposited $500 and would like to let go at $400. 2. I wanted vinyl flooring for my kitchen, living hall and bedrooms. My cement screed was done at a lower height, shortage abt 7mm - 10mm from my kitchen existing tiles. I was unable to have my vinyl levelled between kitchen and living hall. They have to put on an pvc cap between kitchen and living hall. Is there anyway to fix this? I was expecting the whole flooring to be of the same level.
  3. Fellow home owners - WATCH OUT for these warning signs before putting down your money Disclaimer: These are fictitiously illustrated pointers inspired by personal and friends' experiences, and other relavant sources. Please read with discretion. If you're easily offended, don't read, go read a self-help book. Any resemblance is purely coincidental. SIGN 1. IT ALL STARTED FROM FACEBOOK SPONSORED ADS. Suddenly, like signs from above, 2 or 3 different FB Pages flash their beautiful furniture at you. A few of them caught your eyes, on SALE, those prices so fly! You bite the bait and clicked right in. They have likes, shares comments and enquiries like they're legit hot! 10 years warranty woah say! They even have lucky draws, boy oh boy! You think to yourself, "Woah this design I buy from XXX and YYY stores need to pay alot more leh!" It's your dream furniture coming true at a price so unreal. So you tag your spouse/friends and say "Let's go!" Few showrooms you go shopping, impressive showrooms. You're convinced by now they confirm legit! WATCH OUT FOR THESE: - When are these FB Pages created? - Have you heard of them? - Do they sound awfully similar to other established companies? - Are they always slashing prices? - Do a few new/unfamiliar FB Pages sell very similar products at very similar unbelievable prices, at the same period? - Heck, do their photos and products look almost the same?? Hmmm. - Compare with prices of reliable competitors. Are prices ALOT lower? If so, why? - Check their addresses. How long have they been located there? If new, where did they move in from? - Are they registered companies with ACRA? - Home furnishing industry in Singapore isn't that large. Suppliers are only a handful. Question to ask is, how does a new company you've never heard before, maintain an impressive showroom, its operating and man costs, costs of supplies and shipping, and still give you that **** good price PLUS warranty? - They tell you they have a factory? Outside Singapore? Google it. Ensure they are actually related. Even if they have the same names. SIGN 2. SLASHED PRICE & BARGAIN-ABLE (WHAT?!) At the showroom, your friendly sales guy sits you down and treats you like royalty. You say it's out of your budget or you'll consider, but he forces his charm on you and keeps you back. Before you know it 2 hours of your precious shopping weekend gone. He asks what's your budget? You tell him. He whips out his calculator and punched in some numbers. His brows knit so hard they're about to merge. He then stands up and tells you he'll talk to his boss. There you wait, minutes ticking. After what seems like forever on this precious day, he returns with a million dollar smile. He says "Only for you" and shows you the magic number. He says 70% deposit, you hesitated, but he managed to convince you why it's necessary. Well, you've to pay for it eventually, why does it matter, right? Somehow, like you're under his spell, you put your money on the table. Excited that you've officially been promoted from endless shopping, to awaiting that empty space of your home completed. "It's a great deal!" You and your wife brimming with joy. Silently, you try to shake off the nerves. WATCH OUT FOR THESE: - Prices are already unbelievable and you can still bargain? Does it sound too flexible? - If you're getting a bad vibe, trust it, walk out and cool off. Don't let the sales person pressure you into making a decision. - Know the company you're visiting. As in, know its registered company name. And ensure you're given an invoice in that name...with the right address. - Ask about the warranty, how will they honor it? Who services it? Any form of documentation for it? - Oh, and are you highly encouraged to pay cash/ cash transfer at any point from sales to site visit? Why, cheque cannot ah? SIGN 3. LIKE A LATE PERIOD Delivery is 5 minutes later, you receive a call from the boss. He says sorry, shipment is delayed, will need 2 more weeks. This is after "I forgot to order!" "I'm overseas." "I lost my cat!" You're frustrated but what can you do? You've paid 70%. So you wait. Delivery is 30 minutes ago, but there's still no sign of your dream furniture coming. You call the boss, no answer. You call the charming sales guy, he's resigned. You call the boss again for the next hour, he answers and sounds more puzzled than you. He tells you he'll find out what's going on. Half a day later, you call him again for another hour. He calls back and says the supplier made a mistake, wait another 2 weeks. By now, you're furious. But what can you do? THE day comes, nothing again. You call and nothing. A day gone by, nothing. The next day you go back to the showroom with your 6 packs and a bat, just to find the showroom empty. Completely evacuated. Up on the glamorous door is a sign that says "WE ARE TOTALLY UNRELATED TO S.C.A.M. PTE LTD". You realize you've been s.c.a.m-ed. WATCH OUT FOR THESE: I'm sorry. By now there's nothing to watch out for. You're bounced from SPF to CASE and back to your home with that empty corner, a hole in your pocket and a sore thumb from poking that a*hole on your phone. So you move on. And like for every one of us, a lesson learnt. Nooooo, cuz a year or 2 later you find out that a*hole still lurking out here preying on consumers like you and me. I feel you mate. If this sounds horribly familiar, and you've done everything you could, leading to dead ends, pm me for a sharing session. STAY SAFE EVERYONE! HAPPY SHOPPING!
  4. Hi All, I was thinking of doing overlay of Vinyl Tiles on my existing on Terrazo flooring for my 3 NG resale flat. However, as the existing skirting is the curved kind (common for Terrazo flooring), it is necessary to hack off the existing skirting right . Was quoted $700 just to hack off the skirting for living room and 2 bed rooms. Need advise to know if the charges are reasonable. Also, I also prefer if its possible to overlay without any hacking. Appreciate all good advise. Thanks all !
  5. Going for vinyl flooring for my bto ? Just check the price per ft? Thanks
  6. The 3 homemade cleaners we are talking about are baking soda, white vinegar, and lemon juice. In today’s world, it’s almost impossible to find something that is TRULY “cheap and good”… but I must say these 3 modest (yet mighty) homemade cleaners totally fit the bill as “cheap and good” home cleaning solutions. The thing is, besides being essential ingredients in your cooking and baking, the 3 non-toxic homemade cleaning agents will make your cleaning chores less strenuous… and quite satisfying too. These unassuming cleaning superheroes with gentle abrasive and deodorizing properties can truly save you lots of time, energy, and money. Without further ado, let’s get into the 30 cleaning hacks using just these 3 homemade wonders… BAKING SODA 1. UNCLOG YOUR KITCHEN DRAINAGE To clear a stubborn clog faster than your spouse can start cursing, simply pour half a cup of baking soda down the sink/drain inlet, followed by an equal part of vinegar. Cover the drain inlet with a wet cloth and do 5 minutes of burpees or squats… then flush your drainage with hot water. This works like magic every single time. 2. ELIMINATE YOUR GARBAGE BIN ODOURS Nobody likes weird garbage bin odours. Get rid of any odours once and for all by placing some baking soda at the bottom of your garbage bins, always. 3. SCRUB YOUR MESSY BBQ GRILL Love your barbeque sessions but hate the cleaning? You’re not alone. Do you know that you can easily remove all the stubborn cookout grime just by sprinkling some soda powder on your grill brush before you start scrubbing? Yes, no more vein-popping, teeth-gnashing frustrations. In fact, you can be the official hero to battle the BBQ aftermath next time! 4. BRIGHTEN YOUR GLOOMY LAUNDRY Want to make your clothes look more vibrant after laundry every single time? Then add a cup of baking soda to your laundry load along with the detergent to balance the pH… so you can preserve (and even brighten) the whites and colors like a Pro. 5. DUST YOUR KIDS’ STUFFED ANIMALS If your children have a lot of stuffed toys, chances are, you rarely get the chance (or perhaps you’re too tired to bother) to get rid of the accumulated dust. But for your kids’ well-being, be a good parent and do it once in a while. To make your job easier, place them in a large (clean) garbage bag and pour a cup of baking soda in. Then secure the top and bring them outside your house to give them a good shake. The amazing baking soda will help draw out the dust (and even soil). Next, remove the stuffed toys and just vacuum everything away. 6. SCRUB THE ARTISTIC CRAYON WALL Provided you have your kids’ permission to erase their masterpieces on your walls, you can sprinkle some baking soda on a damp sponge and start scrubbing away their crayon art. Want the artists to be responsible for their own work? Teach them how to do this together as a fun game or mini workout after their creative art sessions. 7. CLEAN YOUR SUPER GREASY COOKWARE AND DISHES Always have a hard time scrubbing off stuck-on food on your dishes and favorite pots and pans? Just sprinkle some baking soda on a damp sponge along with the detergent, and voila… the stubborn food residues will be gone in no time. 8. BANISH THE FOUL SMELL IN YOUR FRIDGE No worries about pungent or fishy smells from your overnight food (especially seafood) — because you can easily absorb any lingering strong odours by placing a cup of baking soda in the fridge. This way, you can prevent the unpleasant food odours from affecting the neighbouring foods. You can also go the extra mile and clean your fridge with a damp cloth sprinkled with baking soda. 9. CLEAN THE (TOXIC) FRUITS & VEGGIES Now, this is our favorite baking soda hack — removing the toxic waxy coating from fruits, and dirt from the vegetables. Washing your fruits and veggies with water and baking soda is the perfect solution for this. That means much safer and healthier eating for you and your loved ones, always! 10. BRIGHTEN YOUR DULL JEWELRY Ok, this last hack has nothing do with your home, but it’s worth mentioning… because it has got to do with your precious bling blings. Yes, isn’t it splendid to know that you can restore the sparkle of your jewelry with just baking soda? Make a paste with baking soda and water (3:1) and apply it to your jewelry using a microfiber cloth, then rinse and dry them to remove the tarnishes. Try it yourself today… and experience the satisfaction VINEGAR 1. CLEAN YOUR WINDOWS Why spend money on window cleaning chemicals (that may still leave smudges or harm your skin) when you can use just white vinegar and water? (Use apple cider vinegar if you want something milder). Just mix equal parts of the 2 solutions and apply to your windows with a soft sponge or newspaper (avoid using paper towels because that will leave streaks on your windows). Then simply wipe your windows clean with a wet squeegee. 2. REMOVE FOOD RESIDUES FROM THE MICROWAVE If you have a pesky someone at home (or at work) who always leaves food residues in your microwave no matter how many times you remind him/her not to… fret not. Instead of cutting off the perpetrator’s ears, you can simply boil a solution of water and white vinegar in the microwave. Wait for the steam to form on the microwave window, then you can wipe away the food residues with ease. 3. CLEAN YOUR AUTOMATED COFFEE MAKER If you are using a coffee maker and having a hard time cleaning the build-up every time, then the white vinegar is your saviour. Just fill up the reservoir with white vinegar and run a brewing cycle. Then empty the carafe, rinse away the vinegar by running a round of water through another brewing cycle, and voila… now you are ready to make some hot fresh coffee. 4. RESTORE SPARKLES TO YOUR DISHES & GLASSES Want to keep your dishes and glasses sparkling clean always? Just add 2 cups of white vinegar into your dishwashing machine during a regular cycle and watch the vinegar do its wonder! 5. GET RID OF BATHTUB FILM If you have a bathtub, you’ll be familiar with the yucky bathtub film that accumulates over time. You can remove them quickly by wiping them with vinegar and baking soda. Then just rinse them off with clean water. To remove the bathtub film effectively, wipe it first with white vinegar, then with some baking soda. Rinse away the grime with clean water. 6. CLEANSE YOUR SHOWERHEAD You can also use vinegar to remove grime and mineral build-up on your showerhead. Use a small plastic container with enough vinegar to soak the showerhead. Leave it overnight and you’ll see the nasty build-up and grime dissolve the next day. Then just turn the shower on to rinse clean. 7. REMOVE PET URINE FROM YOUR CARPETS As much as you love your pets, it’s pretty frustrating when they pee on your expensive carpet. To clean the urine effectively, use some paper towels and apply as much pressure as possible on the area to blot out as much of the urine as possible. Do this a few times. Now, this is important — before you apply the vinegar treatment, be sure to test (at a less conspicuous area, like under the sofa or TV console) that the colors of your carpet do not run. Mix equal parts of water and vinegar, then apply the solution to the affected area and allow it to sit for around 10 minutes. Continue to blot with paper towels as before repeatedly. Then sprinkle some baking soda to remove the odour. You can then go watch some Netflix or do some yoga… and come back to vacuum your carpet in about an hour. 8. REMOVE THE DREADED WINE STAINS Wine stains are among the hardest to clean. And it hurts more when you stain your favorite shirt or dress. But not to worry, Mr. Vinegar is here to the rescue. To remove wine stains (from cotton or poly cotton fabrics), just be sure to sponge them directly with white vinegar within 24 hours. After the stains disappear, wash them according to your apparel care label and you’re done. 9. AVOID RUNNING COLORS Remember those unfortunate events when someone’s new jeans or T-shirt turned your whites into blue or pink? Now you can prevent this frustrating mishap by soaking the colored fabrics in white vinegar for a few minutes before washing. This will prevent the colors from running and spoiling your favorite clothes. 10. CLEAN YOUR BLINDS LIKE A PRO To clean your blinds, you can use a mix of white vinegar (half a cup), ammonia (1 cup), baking soda (a quarter of a cup) and about 3.5L of warm water. Just use a soft sponge or cloth to wipe your blinds with this powerful mixture and they will look good as new in no time. LEMON “When life gives you lemons… use them to clean your home!” 1. ENHANCE YOUR DISH DETERGENT’S DEGREASING POWER This first lemon hack will make your dish-washing much easier (and your other half more willing to help you with the dishes). Simply add a few drops of lemon juice to your dish detergent, and you’ll enjoy more degreasing power — that means less energy and time for the dreaded dish-washing chore. 2. REMOVE MINERAL BUILD-UP IN YOUR POTS & KETTLES You can solve this mineral build-up problem by boiling a few thick lemon slices in your pots and kettles. Leave this powerful lemon mixture alone for a couple of hours, then rinse and dry your cookware, and voila… they’ll be almost as good as new. 3. CLEAN YOUR GLASS SHOWER DOORS Instead of brushing or scraping the icky soap scum and hard water stains on your glass shower doors, just rub them off with a half cut lemon. 4. UNCLOG YOUR DRAINAGE Similar to the vinegar, you can unclog your drainage with a “baking soda and lemon combo”. The foaming action of this mixture will help you clear minor blockages like a breeze. Finish the power combo by pouring hot water down your drainage. 5. FRESHEN YOUR TOILET BOWL Want to keep your toilet bowl hygienic always? Then do this one-minute routine every day. Pour half a cup of lemon juice into the toilet bowl and swish it around with the toilet brush. Leave it there for 15 minutes, then flush it all away into the dark abyss… 6. CLEAN YOUR MIRRORS & WINDOWS If you can’t stand seeing smudges on mirrors and windows like I do, then you’ll love this — make a mixture of water and a few tablespoons of lemon juice in a spray bottle, then use it to clean your mirrors and windows to get rid of any smudges in just seconds. 7. REMOVE FOOD PREPARATION SMELLS This lemon hack is especially useful if you deal with seafood and meat marination a lot. Simply wash your hands in a dilute solution of lemon juice and water to remove the smells entirely. 8. CLEAN YOUR MICROWAVE & REMOVE UNWANTED ODOURS Similar to the acidic vinegar, the lemon juice is a great solution to clean and freshen up your microwave oven. Just place a cup of water with 3 tablespoons of lemon juice in the microwave and heat to boiling point (put a toothpick in the water to prevent overheating). Then leave it for 10 minutes. After that, just wipe away any food residues with a clean damp cloth and dry it. 9. REMOVE THE UGLY GROUT You can easily remove the tile grout with some lemon juice and an old toothbrush. No need to buy any expensive grout removal chemicals at all. 10. KILLS GERMS & CLEAN STAINS FROM CHOPPING BOARDS The chopping board is just like a perfect hangout place for germs. Crash the disgusting party by rubbing some lemon juice onto the stains, leave it overnight, then rinse and dry the next day.
  7. Hi all, I am new here. I am planning to overlay vinyl tiles on my paraquet flooring in my resale apartment. I met up with a few ID and some advised me to hack the paraquet flooring prior to laying vinyl tiles citing reason that the paraquet flooring may be damaged and cause problem if overlay. Some say if the paraquet flooring is ok just some light scratches, overlay is fine. Anyone with paraquet flooring and you overlay with vinyl? Need some honest feedback. Thanks!
  8. Hi guys, Just want to share my humble 4RM BTO flat. My wife and I wanted something really simple so we opted for loose pieces of furnitures centred around a colour scheme of white, brown and maroon. Hope you like it! Also, any ideas on where I can find affordable art pieces?
  9. Hi all, just want to share my experience with St Paris, you can find them on facebook easily. We were shifting house and were looking at vinyl flooring for the house. We found St Paris through fb and went down to their showroom on 17th Aug. Payment made in full (our mistake, should never pay in full) as they insist and need it for shipment to come in. Date was tentative placed as 5th Oct Come first week of Oct, my ID contacted them to deliver and install on 3rd oct (we are okay with 5th oct as well but please see below) but the reply from Adrian (their staff) was he will check and get back to us. After 2 3 days of checking and follow up, he got back saying shipment can only come later and installation can only be 15th oct. Question is, so where did they put my money to if it was not used to place orders. I believe from mid aug till early oct, there is no way the stock wouldn't have arrive if St Paris did place their orders. Adrian kept on asking us down to rechoose another design and as we are busy, we said just send us photo. We decide to make the best out of it and just choose another one(lets call this the 2nd choice), but guess what, upon choosing another design, adrian inform us this is out of stock as well. So why bother showing us. I decided to call the boss Alex and he told me he will settle. Reply was slow and ended up adrian gave us our 2nd choice (phew), we thought the worst is over. Come installation, timing was cock up. 4 installers came but there was no vinyl so they ended up sleeping for 1 hr plus. Okay nvm, cock up happens right? After doing, they inform not enough stock, one of my room is like 3/4 done. (huh? I was literally huh?) Okay nvm, we insist they come back the next day and complete the job which alex and adrian did make it happen. Maybe you guessed it right, the stock came the next day but not the installer. So my poor ID again waited till installer come and do up the remaining. Of course it now looks completely different from what I chose, they decided for me the skirting as well. I don't know whats the purpose of me going down in the first place. I contact their fb and wrote a comment to ask them to contact me but they delete and block me. I apps alex and his reply was simple. Job done right? What i want? Job done? Yes after so much trouble and liaising Good job done? Definitely no Responsibility? Okay la, at least like what he said. Job done Just be careful of them and use at your own discretion
  10. Hi, Its my first post here in Renotalk. I hope this queries there would be interior designers that can help advice. I just met on ID yesterday. I requested that I don't want floor skirting in my house cos i want my house to be minimalist theme and skirting kinda make my furniture not able to flush to the wall which overtime will accumulate a lot of dust. So the ID suggested that i do Vinyl flooring. But from all the internet research the vinyl sound very hospital feel to me like is soft and squishy. I have been living in a house laid with granite for 16 years and i am fine with the cold hard flooring but homogenous tile doesn't allow me to do without skirting and as heard from ID tiles would cost more for the installation. Can someone advice which would be better or people using vinyl for a while what is your view? And another thing is i wanted sliding doors for my room. But it seems that the ID i met is quite against it. His take is that the tracks will accumulate dust and if it is a top track the door might crack if knock against it too hard while sliding. Anyone did sliding door for their rooms?
  11. Has any of you guys laid the CLICKMASTER resilient vinyl flooring from Korea, any reviews? 1) how much was the quotation psf (inclusive of gst) ? 2) wear layer of 0.3 - 0.5mm? 3) does it wear and scratch easily? 4) eco-friendly? Thanks
  12. Hi I have a Evorich HERF vinyl package to sell. Paid SGD500 deposit, willing to let go at SGD450 due to change in flooring used. 13. Hi, Consider I am going to fully hack away the old tiles (reduce risk of popping in future), are the cost of laying back homogenous tiles (say $3.20 tiles) or using vinyl flooring going to be the same or which one cost more? After hacking the old tiles, do they need extra cement screeding for tile or vinyl? cos I notice some contractor quote only one item for laying of tiles but for vinyl, were 2 items (cement screeding and laying of vinyl) thanks
  14. Hi, I am looking to get my own flooring for my BTO flat instead of thru ID or contractor. We want to have Vinyl flooring for our 3 bedrooms. Still can't decide whether to have vinyl or tiles in the living room. Any pros and cons of having either one in the living room. I like the look of tiles, the glossy part but I am bringing my 2 elderly parent in laws and they are not really fond of tiles as they find it extremely cold for their feet especially in mornings and nights. Is there any Vinyl type of flooring that looks like tiles ie. have that glossy stone like effect? I have gone to Floor xpert, they quoted $7/sqft w/out GST for their belgium vinyl(quick step i think). Like the textured feel and will like to have it in the bedrooms. Got a quote from Evorich also, about $6.90/sqft and theirs is more smooth. Got another from Innovar...same pricing as Evorich but theirs is thicker. Need advise if the quotes are expensive or is it ok? I saw some companies offering vinyl $4.xx/sqft. Is it the same quality? Or if anyone can recommend good quality vinyl flooring please do let me know. Main concern is price vs quality, toxicity(i have 1 child in the crawling/walking stage and wife might be pregnant with 2nd one), the look(would like to have the 'tile' look or something close to it).

  21. My id charged me $800 for haulage, but i heard from some people and some ids that you can go to hdb and its cheaper? Because in the end they will still need to through HDB for haulage. Is it true. How do we go about it, call them or go there, do we need to bring anything like quotation. Im only doing kitchen cabinet, false ceiling, and vinyl flooring for my reno. Do we still need to pay for so much haulage. Somebody pls advise. Im really blur. Thanks in advance.
  22. Hi everyone, im in love with the vinyl woody texture and the rubbery feel when i step on it, but however after reading a lot of info here shared by fellow renotalk members, i feel there is a need to look more into which brand is good. I asked evorich during the recent expo and they quoted me $6.20 which is still quite ex to me.Supreme the cheapest $5.50 but not much choice i visited inovar as well and they quoted me $7plus if im not mistaken. However theirs is not the click and lock system, which they claim to be not good cos can c gaps. May i know how true is this, anybody used Evorich or Innovar Vinyl care to share? CLick and lock or the normal ones better. Also i asked my contractor and he said he using ACE for my vinyl floor from US and says that its much cheaper. Anybody had used this brand before. I cant find much about this brand for the reviews. THank you in advance!
  23. Is vinyl floor durable? Or it may fade and peel over the years. Is there different grades for vinyl? What is the cost psf range like? I am considering either vinyl or porcelain tiles for my resale 3R flat. Vinyl is cheaper with more 'wood' looking options. But I worry whether i have to replace it after 8-10 years. Porcelain tiles seems like a more durable option but i wonder if they have variety of 'wood' looking tiles to choose from. Anybody wants to share their experience or provide some advice? Thanks
  24. Hi there everyone, my dad just told me that we can get cheaper price if we outsource separate companies rather that taking an id to do the whole unit. He said that for vinyl flooring, doors and grilles, false ceiling go direct to the company for quotation is much cheaper and its true. i Asked several companies for vinyl flooring and all quoted around 3800. Whereby id/contactor quote me 4454 to almost 5K. As for kitchen cabinet and tiles overlay for toilet & kitchen can ask contractor and id to do. I know it seems a lil trouble but at least can save up a bit. Has anybody done their home this way?? Any vinyl companies to recommend? Any doors company to recommend? And any id to recommend for my kitchen and toilet? Thank you!
