Hi, Would it be possible to add/ move an electrical light source/ point from the center of a living room to multiple spots in the living room? Currently, there is only 1 electrical light source/ point situated in the center of the living room. I would prefer not to install false ceiling. I am aware that you can use "Track Lights"/ "Trunking" to pull or split the wires accordingly to add multiple light points across the living room, but I find that a little "messy". Any ideas? Is there any other way to add electric light points without Trunking? The last resort would be to install a false ceiling? Thank you ?

Now that finally my house is fully renovated, I can share my reno experience with many newlywed couples out there. To begin with, my house in Punggol is really small and doesnt seem to tally with the price i paid! Lighting Shopping Like many folks, I went to Balestier Rd and Jalan Sultan to shop for my lightings, and o yes, even JB. JB has slightly cheaper lighting but limited designs. There is a whole array of lighting, ranging from traditional no-design lights to designer lightings in Balestier and JS. But I would say the prices there are really steep. Thankfully, my designer friend recommended me a local online shop selling very beautiful lights. But the only bad thing is that I dont get to see the physical product myself. However, I was assured by my designer friend that the online shop sells exactly the same products as some of the shops along Balestier and the quality is not bad. The prices they offered are really much cheaper than the shops in Balestier, about 50-300 bucks less for same lighting! But, the online shop does not have many choices on ceiling lights. In the end, I got 2 lightings from the online shop and 3 ceiling lights from the shop in JS. Service. The shop in JS is big. But I feel it lacks of quality service. The shop salesperson refused to test the lights for me on the spot but told me that I could bring in to change if the lighting cannot work. On the day of installation, my contractor found that one of the ballasts was not working. Luckily, my kind contractor changed the ballast for me FOC, otherwise, I have to carry it back to get it repaired and carry back again! On the other hand, the online shop person assured me the day prior to delivery that all my lightings are working via pictures on whatapps. The quality of the products is good and I am thankful that I didnt get chopped by the bloodsuckers in Balestier! ID Firms Many ID firms are expensive especially those that advertise a lot. Personally, I find that the interior design of a home has to be thoroughly discussed with the contractor/designer. I heard some generalise the scope of work and demand for more money after work. So please be kiasu and be more specific with the scope. I am fortunate to have my close friend as a designer and we have many discussions together. Through her, I was able to get cheaper renovation works as compared to other ID firms (apparently she has her own contractors!). She knows exactly what I want and I am very satisfied with the job. Hi I am in the midst of renovation and wanted to have some views/advice from you guys here. my place a HDB 3 room flat with the wall between kitchen and living room hacked. 1. I really love track lights in the living room but was told that it will not be bright enough. My ID guy suggested to get a 1 x 2m with 4 LED lights (warm white) and 1 x 1.5 or 1 x 1 x 1m with 3 LED lights. Can anyone advise if this is bright enough for my living room? 2. If I would like to install track lights in kitchen, how many lights do I need? btw, I will have an island kitchen. 3. Anyone has install ceiling fan in the living room? I was told I will feel "oppress" due to the ceiling fan. any recommendation for good ceiling fan - not too ex? My 3room flat is 3NG. thank you very much!

I went to the Philips Carnival over the weekend and bought a Philips hue system. Anyone here using it? Basically, it allows you to (1) remotely turn your lights on/off, (2) remotely change the colour of your lights, (3) remotely control the dimming function of your lights. It integrates with Apple HomeKit and therefore you can even use Siri to control your light. You can also control the lights in your home remotely whilst you are away from home. Of course there are additional functions to automate your home e.g. you can program it to turn on certain lights when you reach home after a designated time (and it will detect via your phone that you have reached home and those lights will come on). Best thing is, there is no additional wiring. For this to work, you need to have an internet connection and wifi at home as it taps into your existing wifi network to control the lights. The Philips Bridge (generation 2) is the controller for all your hue lights. It can control up to 50 individual hue lights. The hue lights are LED lights that come in various shapes and sizes which you can either screw in or plug into your lighting point. Each hue light has its own built-in wifi which will be controlled by the Bridge via your home's wifi. No expensive re-wiring or installing expensive dimmer switches all over the house. It works right out of the box and I installed them myself ..... no need for electrician, etc. So far, having fun experimenting with them. Its a whole new world of experience for me to be able to change the lighting colour and dim the lights in whichever area of my house that I have chosen to locate the hue bulbs and doing it using Siri. BTW, I do not work for Philips nor am I selling this product. I am just an enthusiastic first-time user.
