Cheaper To Get Carpenter? Any Good Carpenters To Share?

Was wondering if it will be a lot cheaper to get a carpenter rather than a contractor for wardrobes, book shelves etc. Does anybody have any idea?

Also, does anybody have any recommendations of good carpenters?
