Hi,

I am new here.. Wanted to install a ceiling fan but don't know anything about it! Do not wish to be con..Could anyone kindly give me some recommendations? As in what is the market price? Where do I purchase them? How many types r there? (Hope to get one with lights =)) Is installation generally included? My budget is $200-$300... Is it enough?

The agent will come tomorrow..hopefully my husband manage to get his contact no.

cost me $185 (fan cost) + $45 for wall regulator because i dont want to use the pull string + $40 to get agent to install

so total cost me $270

My Id dont want to install fan.. he said it is difficult to install fan because need to make sure it is straight..no sound..etc so better to find someone specialize to install and that special person cost me $40.

Btw, with regards to your questions about shadows, are you using cove lights near your ceiling fan? If using downlights or lighting kit on the fan should be no problem 1.

How far apart must my fan be from my living room lights so that i wont see irriating shadow of the moving fan when i on the light?

I am thinking of installing a ceiling fan with lights for my new flat.

Wondering if there is an option not to lay the wires across the ceiling for the fan switch? Cos for my parent's flat, its the new kinda hdb where the wires for the lights are "concealed" but the contractor still have to pull another line of cables for the fan switch separately.

Is there any particular model of fan they we do not have to lay another cable for the fan switch? Or no need to pull another cable at all? Can just use the hdb original light cables??

I hate the sight of the nice smooth ceiling with a line of wirebox running across.. not doing anymore renovations.. so how ar?

You have an option to buy the fan remote. The switch will turn on the fan light. And the remote will turn on the fan and control its speed. No need to run additional wires.

One thing to note - apparently fan remotes spoils easily especially when they are dropped. A replacement remote will be about $80.

At the same time, you need to leave a small gap between your fan neck & the false ceiling, else when you fan vibrates during spinning, it will knock against your false ceiling & crack it.

A better way is to do L-box instead of false ceiling.
