The Most Reasonable Sequence Of Renovation Work

Recommended Posts

Can consider this arrangement.

1. install every floor room tile

2. Lay Corrugated Sheet on New Tiles with Plywood over sheet. ( Heavy objects dropped, will not damage new tiles ).

3. re-wiring every cable

4. plastering all the wall and celling

5. install all water piping

6. painting all wall and ceiling

7. install lighting.

8. install every toilet item (toilet bowl, basin, accessories, water heater etc)

9. install kitchen cabinet.

10. wash and clean up everything in the house

11. Paint touch up whole house

Protection on New Tiles is a MUST, with Corrugated Sheet + Plywood. Will bounce away any dropped heavy objects, and when other wokers use ladders or stand onto their self made wooden stools, your tiles are well protected. Just Corrugated Sheet alone are no use.

Lastly, item 11, paint touchup after everything done.

Hope this help.

it seems like the sequence is install the air con trunking first and then painting of the whole house.

have anyone painted the house first then install the aircon?

Another question regarding sequence.... What is the work involved for installing glass partition into interior "windows" and installation of window grills? I want to know if those should be done before or after plastering and/or painting. thanks!

I have the same query. Should the installation for the lights come before or after painting? any views?

after painting... you don't want paints on your new lights, rite? ;)

The proper sequence is:

1. Lay all floor tiles living room, follow by the rooms, kitchen & two bathrooms.

2. Lay wall tiles for both bathroom & the kitchen.

3.Plaster all walls & ceilings

4. Rewiring of whole house

5. Install Aircon & aircon trunking

6. False ceiling / L-Box with light holder if you're doing any.

7. Install all Piping & sanitary wares & bathroom accesscories.

8. Painting of whole house wall & ceiling.

9. Install all carpentry works including kitchen cabinet.

10. Wash up whole house

11. Final Touch Up & return keys to owner.

floor tiles are usually done first because it's the dirtiest job amongst the rest

you wouldn't want cement splatters on your newly painted wall right?

however, air-con trunking and electrical wirings can be done before the tiling

esp if you intend to run some of them UNDER the tiles

the 3 major tasks are always tiling, carpentry and running trunking (both electrical and air-con)

tiling MUST be before carpentry for obvious reasons

btw, the ceiling of a hdb flat is usually not level

so using the floor is a better choice :yamseng:

Can you give the reason why the floor titles need to be the 1st things to do ?

my opinion, even you cover it with paper, for sure will have scratch here and there.

That is the problem I have as well. The homogeneous floor tiles will definitely get scratched.

I think the contractors need to have a level ground to use as a reference for their measurements when they install the false ceiling, trunkings for the air-con pipes and electrical wirings, etc. However, I think the ceiling can also be used for this purpose.

Why floor tiles is done first? I think doing this saves the contractors time and effort.

Hi..all,

Any one can give opinion which is the best or the most ppl do when do full renovation.

the flat is resale fat and ALREADY BEEN HACK to change everything (exclude the wall)

so to make more simple i list the job that need to be done.

1. install every floor room title

2. install every toilet item (toilet bowl, basin, accessories, water heater etc)

3. re-wiring every cable

4. install lighting.

5. install kitchen cabinet.

6. install all water piping

7. plastering all the wall and celling

8. painting all wall and ceiling

9. wash and clean up everything in the house

according information i search over internet, talk with ppl, read from paper, i think the best or i can say normal procedure is :

1. plastering all the wall and celling

2. re-wiring every cable

3. install all water piping

4. install every toilet item (toilet bowl, basin, accessories, water heater etc)

5. install kitchen cabinet.

6. install every floor room title

7. install lighting.

8. painting all wall and ceiling

9. wash and clean up everything in the house

if you think there is better sequence, i'm happy if can be share here.

what you think if the ID/ contractor just miss in the sequence ?

thanks for any comment
