You may want to consider Hyflux water filter... its maintenance is more economical in long run :)

If its just filtration, then hyflux seems a good proposition.

But if you are looking for functional water then see water ionziers. The science is proof that it works.

cheers!

Hi gkbt,

I read with great interest on all your posts in this thread and it does seem like you've really done your research and even to the extent of testing them one way or another.

I do not think that you're in anyway associated with KEMP and am truly appreciative of your enlightening opinions herein.

Frankly, i am only starting to look into beneficial water for my home since i've always drank water straight form the tap anywhere, even when i've seen the cheapo cloth filter has turned brown.

With my new home, the water dispensed has a higher concentration of bubbles, strangely. It smells mildly fragrant and tastes like it has a higher akali content. I could be all wrong since i've never tested the waters with a litmus test.

These have got me thinking if the water in my home is really "safer" for consumption since i've never really tasted such type of water before. Indeed water in Singapore is always safe but what im really concerned about is the added impurities from the pipes thats leading to my taps.

Anyhow, i would like to know how's your Marvelo holding up? Any findings thus far?

From the time of your research till now, would there be any recommendations for a beneficial water system that you can propose and why?

I'm slightly inclined to your earlier posts' proposal on the undersink Delphi model since i'm all for low profile stuff. Plus, its a space saver on the kitchen counter.

Also if you've not purchased your soundbar, I would recommend against the Philips if you can afford it. We can discuss this in another thread if you like ;)

Hi benlauhh,

Happy new year!

The mavello is holding up. Actually my parents that used the 1st Mavello is still functioning, bought at 2001 after my mom consulted me as the "leading science person in the home", my own Mavello bought in 2005 which helped my wife's gastric problems is holding up as well (now in my in-laws place). My own jupiter system is ok as well ;)

Delphi is truly an amazing undersink system with a looker at the top. However there is a price to be paid for it S$2888  At my current place, where countertop space is a luxury... it might be applicable but.... I blew my budget.... so had to settle for a lesser system till I get enough dough

Enough said about the Mavello system.... the question we should ask ourselves is what kind of water would you like to have... If its just clean filter water, then there are tonns out there that will not need to bust a GIANT hole in our wallets. If I was looking for a water filter, I would go for the anything that has 0.01M filters. Reason is simple, the smaller the sizing the finer the filtration. Virtually all bacteria and some viruses are not able to get through that kind of filter size. Simple filters need not be 1k and above, in fact prices should be sub $500 of lesser coupled with NSF cert.

btw I decided on the mirage speakers and onkyo 608 THX certified amp. Its pure joy to hearing it.

Any clean water filter brand that you will recommend (maybe something that does not run on electricity lol)? I don't need the water to be ionized.

Look for anything that has a fine filter with materials to remove chemicals. I prefer a 0.01M filter from hyflux if I ever needed a filter system. But since I have a 0.01M filter inside a water ionizer, it provides the filtration protection as well as alkaline ionized water that my family needs.

Hope it helps!

Cheers!

Hey gkbt!

Nice to see you back here sharing your advice and experience on your mavello. Sorry hadn't been checking back in here for awhile so missed your message.

You even know the price for the Delphi?! Hahaha! I was planning on bringing my wife to their showroom at IP to check it out. I must admit though that i have not done my fair bit of research on this subject and i am taking your advice to check the series that KT has to offer.

Will update once we come back from there then.

Good choice on the mirage and onkyo 608. I suppose you had some recommendations? ;)

Is it the one costing about $600 plus? Need to engage plumber for fixing?

The Delphi Price is S$2888 I think. The most expensive and stylish system I have seen but.... NO BUDGET!! :(

I was smitten by the Mirage speakers when I went into the sound studio in Harvey Norman. The Onkyo I waited for a while to get the THX approved system... :)

Hi all,

Just for information,

I had an email asking the difference between MRET and water ionizers.

I decided to post it here so that everyone can benefit for the information.

MRET

By Honeycomb ( located in Novena beside the food court)

Similarity:

Basically its uses magnets to split the water clusters into smaller (micro) level. This helps in the hydration, adsorbtion of nutrients and detoxification for the body.

Differences:

It can be used on all kinds of fluids from juices, wines & oils.

No Antioxidants and high alkalinity (both which are important)

Alkaline Water Ionizers

By a few companies (I use jupiter from KEMP Trading because of their track record)

Similarity:

Basically uses electricity to break down large water cluster into micro cluster (similar to MRET)

Differences:

Water ionizers are used to ionized ONLY water.

Water ionizers have benefits such as Antioxidants and Alkalinity which the MRET does not have.

Results:

It really depends on what do you actually want. Both technologies have their pro and cons, however they can be supplemented to become equal. Pricewise, ionizers tend to be slightly cheaper (depending on which model)

Generally if my ionizer cannot MRET juices or oils, I tend to buy more healtier oils and have fresh fruits. Similarly if the customer lack antioxidants and alkalinity, they have to purchase supplements and consume more alkaline food groups.

I hope the above helps!

Cheers

I hope the above helps!

To be honest here, we should not just be talking about alkaline water. It so common to hear companies that are offering alkaline water. This not only complicates matters as alkaline water is dervied from many ways but not understood by many.

Let me help break it down for interested people who wants to know more.

1) Alkaline water can be made using chemicals. Think NaOH (sodium hydroxide aka caustic soda) this will raise the pH of any water up to the max pH of 14. However no one in the right frame of mind will drink this alkaline beverage from such chemical concotion.

2) Alkaline water can be alkalized through minerals. However there is limitations to this. Think of this as trying to dissolve sugar in a cup of tea... there is a saturation pt.. dissolving minerals behave the same.. as such high pH is almost impossible. Futhermore mineral derived from this is compound based and not ions. thus it is not very beneficial as the body requires ions to function not compounds.

3) Alkaline water can be derived from ionization method where mineral compounds are broken apart.. thus one 1 side u have high alkaline water with high concentration of mineral IONS while on the other high acidic water with lots of acidic ions. As the body requires ions to function. giving it ions will help ones body greatly.

Another aspect other than alkaline water is antioxidants. We all know antioxidants are extremely important to prevent premature aging... mutant cell etc.... that why alot of people are taking antioxidants supplements. Therefore the more antioxidants... the merrier. (3) has lots of this ability as it uses electricity (2) has a tiny bit of it due to bio stones etc... but to change the cartridges.. it cost an arm and leg eventually.

I subscribe to (3) Do consider carefully on all fronts the requirements of the family like i have and not get caught up with marketing advertisments. Read the science inside them to understand more before buying anything.

cheers
