Water Filters

Recommended Posts

after doing some intensive research over 2 weeks. i decide for APEC 5 stage reverse osmosis under sink water filter.

i was torn between using expresswater or APEC. But from reviews both in amazon and outside, it seemed APEC is the preferred model. but expresswater comes cheaper and with extra water filter !!!

I have left the UV light option out as i think ours is considered city water that is already well treated and besides i do not want complication of getting the wiring for uv light and if anything wrong i gotta fix the uv.

however, since i cannot find a company here selling, i will have to diy install. i manage to get a plumber who say he can install but regarding the kitchen top faucet, he need my kitchen contractor to install the faucet, the rest he can do. so YES!!!!

i bought from amazon and ship via my package forwarder. Yes!

Wanted to drop-by Kemptrading to find out more about their products and before going down, did a google on alkaline water and came across HiFloAM ads http://www.natures-glory.com/alkaline-water-vs-hifloam-water/, have read through and sound logical to the myth as stated, making me wanted to switch over to their product. So, would like to hear whether anyone is using the HiFloAM.

Hi all,

1st of all I would like to thanks all here for the information, though a little overloaded for me, haha. Especially thanks to gkbt.

I moved into my current resale flat in mid 2012. I have been thinking to install a simple water filter at home since 2014, simply because mine is already a 25+ years old flat. The purpose is just to filter out the the possible rust from the aging pipe. Whatever else that available to me is just bonus, addon. So I was not prepared to pay a lot for that. I was interested in those faucet type. But, I never install any.

Fast forward to now. My son develop a kind of eczema condition on his leg since early this year (2015). We have been going to various doctors/TCM/naturapath thrapist, hoping to get him cured (no medication with steroid). My wife read about encouraging results of using alkaline water to wash/soak his leg, and maybe drinking. So, now I think it is a good time for me to really install one at home. However, I think I need a undersink type. I do not have enough space for countertop type, neither want to run water pipe across it. But I have a concern here. While doing research, I have come across a school of taught on alkaline water. It is that, after prolong period of consuming alkaline water, our body/stomach will "think" that we do not have enough acid in there, and so in turn, produce even more acid. This makes me worried. My wife, since 7 years ago, has suffered from acid reflux. It was until she went to a TCM at TPY that help her slowly "adjust" her body, then she is much better. But still, once a while, it comes back. I am worried that, alkaline water will worsen her acid reflux condition. My I have some opinions on this?

Secondly, it is about which brand and kind of alkaline water filter to choose, if we do decide to get one. After reading what gkbt written here, I am really interested in ionized alkaline water. But, like that of KT or Cleansui, the price seems quite high, for example the one from Cleansui is $2899. I am actually more comfortable with the price range of Hyflux's version of alkaline water filter, which is available for around $900. My question is, is that from Hyflux good, for our purpose?

Another question is, no matter which one that I decide eventually, is there a way to stop the alkaline function in the filter, but still continue for it to filter water for us, in case we do not want the alkaline function anymore? Is there such thing around?

Thanks.

Hi all!
i just learned that its not very good to drink alkaline water. Water pH should be kept at neutral. What the filter does is to remove the contaminants, bacteria and virus. So it is important that the water filter should come with a UV light. and for my own health, i had research alot, and only espring water filter have a NSF certified UV light. I used to have a D*** brand water filter and it claim all those NSF standard. But when i checked in NSF website, only "espring" water filter are certified with UV light. Please be extra careful on this part and dont let the brand / salesperson cheat your money. And if the machine have that NSF standard, please also check in NSF website as it might be fake claim. Good luck everyone!

Hi, thanks to this forum, I'm able to know about kemp trading water filter

we went there today to find more info.

Me and hubby are really impressed with their great service.

They provided us with all the information we needed without any hard selling at all

as our house only will be ready on June, they asked us to just come back near the date when we already got our key

the products also imprensive, my husband who is a very critical and technical person also like it so much. Their Smart i7u (under sink) model is very nice and suitable for small kitchen.

So my suggestion for all who is considering to buy water filter, just go to kemp trading to find out more about their products and they even educated us about the water purifier and ionizer in general

we will come back there around June after we got our key

Dear Kelleigh,

Its interesting that you just "learned" that drinking alkaline water is not very good.

I would assume you are using the Espring system since you are talking about them.

Putting things in perspective, if everything is balanced in our diet and lifestyle.. then yes even water should be pH neutral. However since we all know that its NOT the case, then consciously looking for something better will always be our focus in life. To beat aging, to prevent / delay chronic illness and ultimately trying to beat the cycle of life especially end of life.

NSF is one of the certifying bodies for water purification is USA, its only right that Espring being from US should be certified with those standards. I cant say much for the D* brand but I do think there are many other certifying bodies (different countries) around the world especially if those brands are mainly sold in those countries.

Cheers.

Its finally good to be BACK!

hello..

for the products mention here like Jupiter Alphion MX, KempSmart i7, Mavello JP-101MX, Vesta.....

what is the frequency to change the filters(on average)?

i only read about the units displaying filter life, but can't seem to find the cost of changing and whether we can change on our own.

Hi Wirriam,

Frequency is roughly 6000L or 1 year based on what was advised. It's like servicing your car etc... to save my bucks.... I would go for 6000L (which the system will actually prompt you)

You can change it yourself, but you don't need to sweat a muscle... its free delivery and changing... just need to order and buy the filter.

Changing for filters depend on what system you are using... my old Jupiter Delphi filter cost roughly $150... The newer Smart I models are slightly more exp... there is a new material in there called KDF which bumped up the price)

Hope the above helps!

Cheers!

Alkaline water is just a Treated water, but is Not Filtered Water, it is also Not Purified Water, the Bacteria and Virus are still inside the Alkaline Treated water.

If you are really looking for Filtered or Purified Water, please not consider Alkaline water.

The "Acid" water cannot be drinking water, it can only be used for Wash Rice, Wash Clothes or Pour to Plants.etc... or.....Wasted...

Hi Wirriam,

acidic ic weather is part of water itself. Since you have split up the water, it will have to produce both types of water, namely alkaline and acidic water.

benefits of both types of water are there. Alkaline water namely for consumption while acidic water mainly for external.

It's true if u dun store up the acidic water u will be wasting it. But the % is roughly 30-40% of the volume processed. So it's not that much.

Also u tend to be using a lot more of acidic water than alkaline. There are many uses of acidic water that requires huge volumes, think disinfecting, cleaning, rinsing etc... So your daily 5-6L of acidic water is not going to do much anyway.

Sorry to hear u didn't managed to get a demo after going all the way there Kemp tends to be busy as they are the longest serving company in this specialized area, but if you want I can pm u with someone directly and u can request for a demo again from him..

cheers!

Hi Prosumer,

it really depends on what u deem alkaline water.

If u are saying add some calcium carbonate or other alkalizing materials into the water, then you are correct. This type of water is called alkalized water.

However not all alkaline water are "produced" this way. Ionized alkaline water is made through filtration of water, (which removes bacteria / virus / chemicals / debris etc. after which it's produced via electrical current that seperated the alkaline minerals ions from the acidic minerals ions. This is the true ionized alkaline water that the Japanese have been using for decades (coming to half a century) that's is documented and medically certified to help in certain conditions of the body.

As for the acidic water, kindly see the above,

cheers
