Question On Power Gas Connection To Hob

Recommended Posts

can you share what is your experience in getting PowerGas to connect the main supply to your hob, during the renovation period?

1. Do you as the owner need to be there physically OR does your ID arrange all this ? He mentioned that owner need to sign as an acceptance to the job done (like no leaking etc...)

The ID's foreman that has initially arrange the gas pipe but during the connection period, he wants me to be there. I found that this sound ridiculous.

Truly wish to know the standard practice.

Thanks,

AJ

hi AJ

i arranged it myself for both occasion and was there physically cos i wanted to monitor it myself and take pics of it. :P

but from what i know, IDs and contractors can help you to arrange and sign the acceptance. the CityGas staff told me anyone can sign on the acceptance form, not neccessary the owner themselves.

HTHs.

Thanks Geryl and Gnomish... point noted.. :)

personally, i think its best that you are around. contractors cannot make all decisions for you.

as a owner, you need to take some own responsibility on certain things.

anyway, PUB guys can come on Sats. so you can be around on Sats.

BUT let me tell you about the punctuality of PUB guy.

My own PUB guy's appointment is from 2pm to 4pm Sat. He came exactly at 4pm. made me wait for whole 2 hours. :furious::furious::furious:

the BEST part is that their PUB 1800 Customer service hotline doesnt work on Sats....... i waited until 3.30pm, and getting worried that the PUB guy may forget to come. i tried calling the 1800 number, no response and the message says the centre is closed.

STUPID.

And the gas connection job only 5 mins to do it.

pls remember that PUB will charge you $50 for it.

my id last time arranged for me, but i have to be onsite when the sp guy turned it on.

with my next home, yes..i defintely want to be there cos it is our home after all..just in case got problem. the contractor/id won't resolve for me if there is issue. but usually no problem.
