Hi all,

I strongly recommend Vincent. His service is really excellent and passed my expectation.

Before i met vincent, i have a "nasty" encounter with another curtain guy. He was late for the appt for abt half an hr, didnt bothered to call until I have to check with him. Finally he arrived with big bags of samples. Then he just take measurements, etc and quoted me a price. When i said i wanted to consider, he was not pleased and lamented that he took a cab from expo with the samples and etc. He said he understand if I want to compare the price with others. However since mine is just those mickey mouse condo, i might as well let him "earn" the few dollars to cover his taxi expenses and etc. Boy....was i mad because my fren told me he can go down site to take measurement without obligations. In the end, i managed to brush him off.

I have seriously considered of not meeting vincent after the encounter. So i check with him whether that his quotation on site is of no obligation. He assured me and hence we met. He reached 15mins earlier. Amazing, he checked out the surrounding, measurement n offered me advice of what kind of curtains or rollers are suitable. Also offer advised that if i were to take full length of the curtains, i would block the walking way around the bed. He offered me all the pros, cons and different rates. Also told me the different types of curtains and etc. It was so much different experience from the first curtain guy. As the price is within my budget (he give discount as i told him i got his number from this forum. ) and also with his excellent service, without doubts, i took my curtains with him on the spot.

Today he came and installed the curtains with his sister. A very thoughtful guy. Before he put everything down and start to drill, he laid protective sheets on the grounds to prevent scratches. When he drilled, he use a cover to collect the debris so that it would not dirty the floor. He even taught me how to fold the curtains to make it look nice instead of cuttered at the bottom. As he didnt have enough change for the balance amount and i was trying my best to fish for the exact change, he told me do not bother with the last few dollars. His offer taken me by surprise. But of cos, i insisted on giving him the exact amount. He also followup up a sms with me after the day of installation checking if i like my curtains. He told me that quite alot of business are from this forum. Actually i am also one of it who got his number from here. Therefore thanks to who who recommend him here. Hence i would also like to share my experience here.

Guess what, i did a random survey and found tht the price quoted to me is 30-40% lesser frm market price, i think i save close to $800 compare to the quote I got from retail shops! . I used to think that curtains are a waste of money and are expensive furnishing stuffs ... now no need to go JB or Batam to get cheap curtains maker anymore...

Was very satisfied with the completed look and the fabric offered too. btw they does wallpaper, blinds, upholstery as well at very competitive rates. Will get him to do up my parents flat soon.

Saw their flyers at my new house.dedcide to give a try by getting a quote from them,manage to fix an appt with the sales guy..wheww v disappointed by the lack of fabric choices n seems v impatient of me asking the fabric country origins n etc,nvm after choosen the material manage to get a quote from him straightaway n after comparing their quotation with others seems to be higher than others..somemore keep pressing me to place deposit on the spot haizz...No Professional Ethics At All...Spammers

Measuring Up for Curtains [remove the company URL] Measuring up for your window treatments should be one of the first steps, and probably one of the most important, you make. Get this wrong and no matter how well you sew your curtains the desired effect will not be achieved.

For curtains outside the recess the track or pole needs to be wider than the window frame [4" - 6" (10 cms -15 cms)] to allow for stacking the opened curtains. It should be fixed about 4" (10 cms) above the top of the window frame and should be horizontal.

It is advisable to make a plan of each window and transfer all the measurements onto it for future reference. Never presume that 2 windows are exactly the same size even if they look identical.

Take all the measurements in either inches or centimetres. DO NOT MIX THE TWO.

Measuring Curtain Width. Outside the Window Recess

1.Measure the width of the track or pole (F) adding any extra for centre overlapping, normally about 6ins (15 cms).

2.Multiply the track width by 1.5, 2 or 2.5 depending on the heading to be used.

3.Divide that by the width of the fabric, normally 48" or 54" (122 cms or 137 cms), and round up to the next whole number to give the number of widths required. If an odd number results then one width can be cut in half and added to the outside edge of each curtain.

Measuring Curtain Width. Inside the Window Recess

1.Measure the width of the window recess (E) and multiply by 1.5, 2 or 2.5 depending on the heading to be used.

2.Divide that by the width of the fabric, normally 48" or 54" (122 cms or 137 cms), and round up to the next whole number to give the number of widths required. If an odd number results then one width can be cut in half and added to the outside edge of each curtain.

Measuring Curtain Length. Outside the Window Recess

1.For a pole, measure from the bottom of the ring to wherever you wish the curtains to fall (A, B or D).

2.For a track, measure from the top of the track to wherever you wish the curtain to fall (A, B or D).

3.For tab top curtains, measure from the top of the pole to the required finished length (A, B or D). Deduct the length of the tabs (approx. 3" [7.5 cms]) as the top of the curtain must come above the top of window frame. (This may mean moving the pole.)

4.To this measurement add 8" (20 cms) to the finished length (2" (5 cms) for the top seam allowance and 6" (15 cms) for the bottom hem) for lined and unlined curtains with attached heading tape or tab tops.

5.For lined and unlined curtains with cased headings add 10" (25 cms) to the finished length (4" (10 cms) for the top seam allowance and 6" (15 cms) for the bottom hem).

6.Short curtains should finish 0.5" (12 mm) above the sill or radiator and full length curtains should fall within 1" (2.5 cms) of the floor.

7.If patterned material is to be used then each length has to be a full pattern repeat, for example:- With a pattern repeat of 25" and a curtain finished length of 54" you will need 75" for each drop. i.e. 54" + 8" for hems = 62" rounded up to the next multiple of 25" (your pattern repeat). Multiply this amount by the number of widths required and hey presto you have the length of fabric required.

8.To calculate the amount of lining required (if used) multiply (the finished length plus hem allowance) by the number of widths required. Hem allowance is usually 6" (15 cms), 2" (5 cms) for the top seam and 4" (15 cms) for the bottom hem. Ignore any adjustments for pattern matching.

Total: SGD 1050.

The rollers mechanism and materials are just like the ones used in my office, which already has been around for at least 7 years. Doesn't feel flimsy at all. My only problem now is that when the wind from outside or the fan blow, there will be clanging sound. Will need to stick round plastic stud, hopefully can reduce the noise.

Anyone heard of Rosse Curtain?

I was introduced to this company by my contractor and they give me quite a reasonable price to do up a day and night curtain in my living room. Sorry but it's not convenient to disclose the price but it's very much comparable to what I was quoted from IKEA.

The boss is very friendly and came to my place to take measurement with no obligation. He also took alot of patient to explained to me the pros and cons of installing one layer day curtain or day and night curtain. I am very please with his service so far.

Please share your comments if you have dealed with him before.

Hi there, i recently jus renov my hse at punggol. the curtain guy is cheap and good. its his own business. he will bring the fabric to your hse and let you choose. what's top notch here is his service. he never hurries us and helps us through choosing the colors.
