Please advise. soun prof drywall like quiet solutions google dont know if they have it here u suspend it with tracks like u would a false clealing and u can also fill it in with roxul or similar fire proof and sound dampening insulation. i have a guy who is supposed to come quote me dealing in somethign similar but he hasnt showed up when he does i shall let you know how it does. fini 1 Report post Posted September 7, 2009 I have sealed up my window , filled cavity with fire proof and sound dampening insulation, built some sort of alumininum frame to hold the gypsum board covering the cavity.. the apllied silicone over the edges,,,, but still can hear sounds fm outside...... jdanielsg 0 Report post Posted February 1, 2010 btw I am also looking into solutions for noise coming from outdoors, which isnt my only noise problem but a good place to start and I have figured the only good way to do it is to spend money and swap the windows... good quality double glazed windows aluminium is ok but must be well constructed and have thick rubber seals, but upvc seems to be the best in terms or sound but they cost about 1500 for a 2 panel window up to 2400 for a 3 panel casement window..... but I am pretty sure if the are measured right and fit tight into the cavity with as little useless white concrete filler in between, your room should be pretty much airtight to the outside.. problem is here in singapore theres no winter.. so theres no problem of heat loss.. there isnt much out there in terms of making windows pretty much airtight to keep in the heat.. like what we have in canada.. so we are pretty much out of luck and those that do dont do em for HDB so.....even if you have money to spend... you may not be able to get whats best....the windows I mentioned above are from sapphire windows... tomorrow is the day I am going to call up some more contractors I have found, we shall see if anyone of them do HDB Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Angel M 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2011 Hiya, Many people think that using thermal insulation rockwool can solve the problem, it cant, because the density is far to low. In singapore allmost all of the stuff people are using is the wrong stuff. Like double glazing windows that are used in cold countries to trap heat. Try looking at the NoiseBlock products they are proper sound insulation materials. The rockwool didnt work cos its to low you need 160kg density and above and i think only NYTC Noiseblock is available in singapore to do this.
