An Old Apartment, Our New Home

Recommended Posts

thanks thanks.

Yes we like this old apartment better after visiting a lot of the new apartments.

We were contemplating between casa merah and this but eventually decided on this as psf is much cheaper.

However, being an old apt means we need to cough out a lot of cash for renovation.

Just received the quotation from my contractor...... :jawdrop:

Hmm...need to have a "good" talk with him on the price.

A little history.

This is my 3rd renovation in 5 years.

Been using the same contractor for the past 2 reno cos he has given me very good sales and after sales service.

In fact, my current EA, he actually complete the whole reno in 1 month considering my EA was in original condition when we bought it.

But I have to confess that I was not too particular with rates (expect reasonable but not cheap) for the past reno and this time round, I need to exercise more due diligence in parting with the money.

This time round, I just asked him to quote for carpentry and wet works.

For the flooring, I approached the flooring specialist (parquet and laminate) directly for better prices.

More to come....

I read in the net somewhere that the rinsing of the dishes before putting in the dishwasher is the wrong way to do. In fact you dont even need to do that as it will definitely use more water than manual washing.

serious? must let my fren know tt man.... :P

I used dishwasher before and didn't rinse ler, just make sure to scrap away the leftover food ... and make sure to use the dishwasher detergent.

You have very sharp eyes ;)

Stayed there for a few days during school holidays ... ages ago. The Curry Fish head and Bak Kut Teh around that area are very good.

One of the challenges we have for moving, is to reuse our current furnitures...

example.

1. Our dining table, the hanging parition and the jewel lights.

Since our ceiling height is too high, the dining table may look cartoonishly small in the dining hall.

2. The 2nd LCD TV and ikea TV console in our current 2nd living room.

3. My 4 ikea bookshelves.

congrats! Katong is certainly a very nice place to live in... with gd food all around!

With rgds, to dishwasher... i used it b4 while staying w my sis-in-law in aussie. She said gotta scrub all the residue b4 placing into the washer, the hot water can only clean the oil and germs.. but not the residue. So i tot it was a little extra rinsing and scrubbing then place into the washer.

But its definitely gd for toddlers and babies... kills germs more thoroughly than conventional cleaning. :)

its a partition wall made up of individual plastic pieces we bought. Yes linked together with metal hooks.

We didnt want a fixed partition so tada! A movable, reconfigurable and detachable partition.

A closer look.
