Home & furnishing : The Shower Screen

Recommended Posts

Hello all

have got some qns to ask regarding shower screens.. how much did you get yours for? My ID quoted me 625, which i think is super ex, but she told me it's because her supplier is a "shower screen" company (not a glass company), and they r from australia, so their shower screen is very durable.

then i got a number from the internet selling shower screens that are imported from aust, true enough, the price is about there.

but i got a number from the straits time classified, the shower screen is 325, but i nv ask how many mm and made from where la...

Do you all have any suggestions on which i should take? Really in a dillemma cos ive got kids and im really worried that if the quality is not good and the glass shatters, it 'll be very dangerous. on the other hand, the aust one is double the price! hai.

Do check if the glass is temper proof.

Why you want to do that? I thought shower screen is to prevent water from splashing out while you are are showering. Without the door to complete the enclosure, most probably you get water splashing out. Might as well save money and space and leave it as it is. :(

hahahaa, i am thinking that the door sort of make the place smaller , hence without the dooor its easier to do things like washing clothes , also with the shower head at the inner part of the bathroom the semi glass shower screen can block 80% of the water splash.

That be the case, might as well consider just a shower screen. :furious:

Perhaps you can try PDdoor. Their concept is slide and swing but I think is rather expensive. Maybe u get them to give u a quote.

Yup, i have installed PDdoor, it is very good, as the track is on the top so you have no hindrance on the bottom, it is also space saving. you can refer to PDDoor or my blog at My Reno blogs

Hope it help you.

What is the pros and cons for installing the shower screen.

1 advantage is that the water wont splash onto the other side of the floor.

1 disadvantage is tha we have to open and close the shower screen. But we already lock the toilet door. Double close?

How is it especially those who has install the shower screen. Good or bad?

Thanks for everybody input.

Hi,

I am a newbie to the RenoTalk Forum. Recently, i just installed a shower screen in MBR, is it normal for the glass door is open to the inside which means when finish shower, the glass door is pull instead of push? In this way, the towel rack cannot install in the shower area as open door to the inside would hit the rack. Is it ok to install the door that push to the outside? Kindly advice. Thank you.

It really depends on how big is your mbr toilet.

I thought that the glass door can pull or push right?

The MBR toilet is a standard size (Toa Payoh Blk 79) for new HDB which mean if towel rack is behind the glass door then pull door will hit the rack behind. For my case, it is only for pull and not push. Does your shower screen glass door able to pull and push?
