Small Bathroom, How To?

Recommended Posts

4ng toilet is bigger than my current 3i model...

your solution ..... just hack the middle wall... rebuild back later when u rent out the room... or.... get shower screen to divide

I could just hack it, then later waste money to re-build it and being faced with the same dilemma as before. Besides, I would have to open the floor to bring the piping for the toilet back out which would have to be hidden if I create a shower area there.

Well, I probably cant even hack it because I would lose the place where the sink currently is and I would have to move the sink in front of the toilet where the space is already small. I can do that also now even without hacking.

HI Caireann, my resale place 4NG toilet also same dimension as yours. My parent 3 room also same dimension. And it had been trouble me where to put the shower screen. I thought of ways without hacking but in the end gave up the ideas of shower srceen. Because the toilet is simply too small without hacking.

Someone here has put the sink outside in a separate part.

If you intend to live without tenants then it might be OK to hack the wall inbetween the two bathrooms.

If you want to get a tenant for some extra money, then better dont hack.

I will try to apply to shift the toilet a bit. My latest thought to turn the back of the toilet towards the widow gives a bit space to put a sink beside.

Still, in general I find most of the older bathrooms too small to carry out proper hygiene.

Well, latest studies prove HDB comments wrong.

I like the new flat layout and big toilet but my 1st priority is still the location. So sometimes need to forsake some others. Did consider extend the MBR toilet

sink out but it will cause the room to be small. I thought of turning the back of the toilet bowl towards the window but after the WC was remove, realised the hole is too near the wall. But you can try it out.... :P

Yes, the hole is a little bit more than 1 foot from the wall. A friend, as I wrote had the toilet much further away from where it is now and it seems HDB allowed to make the changes as long as the flat below was not affected. Edited by Caireann

It looks quite nice.

Guess HDB has approved that design because the shower is separated by a glass screen from the rest.

I dont like the glass around the shower so much because it makes it more difficult to clean the whole floor. Besides, sometimes I need a chair underneath the shower.

Well, but it looks good.

For the tiles: I have selected the same colour scheme for me, but smaller tiles. I dont know, big tiles look elegant, but dont they make the room look smaller?

For the tiny bathrooms I have selected 20*20cm tiles, for the Kitchen 30*30cm and for the living room and the rest 60*60cm tiles. Same tiles in the hall and the bedrooms.

Hi luckable, I was using your toilet picture as reference when doing reno. But the extra $ for glass shower and extended out, make the MBR smaller so had to gave up the ideas. If not, will be nice to have.

I have the same problem but would not want to extend the toilet to the masterbedroom. Did you managed to get all the three items into the small toilet? Pls share with me your ideas.

Hi I like your idea. Can someone tell me if its possible to move the direction of the toilet? My idea is to rotate the toilet and put the shower area next to it with the glass panel and put the sink where the sink is now. Any suggestions. What did you do in the end. Would appreciate your input.

hi all,

like to offer a fresh approach to this topic.

we did not have a small toilet but the toiet bowl was awkardly located in the middle. we tried to create "more space" by removing the traditional dry-wet floor concept. wet floor refers to the floor within the shower screen which gets wet when bathing. dry floor refers to everythong else.

a flexible shower screen was used (less than $50 from ikea including rails)

see details here.

advantage:save space, save cost

disadvantage: wet floor risky to fall. (mitigated with antislip mat here)

Did anyone has any solution to this?

I am thinking of sealing off the master bedroom toilet wall and hack a new door from the kitchen side.

Then remove the toilet bowl completely from one of the toilet and turn it into a dedicated shower room.

Is this possible?

everyone is talking about expending the toilet space. anyone hack to make the toilet smaller? due to fengshui purpose, i have no choice but to position my bed in position where i need to shrink the toilet to create walking space. anyone know how long will it take for hdb to approve the hacking permit? im working on a tight time line.
