Electrical work cost??

Recommended Posts

Well if you have a budget to blow then get the id to do all the renovation work. What I've done so far :

- Design ,hacking ,plumbing ,tiles, carpentry .... ID take care.(By the way , ID will earn certain %

commisions if he/she was to take you on a 'shopping trip' e.g lights or bathrooms accessories) .

- Electrical works , plastering & painting .... I hired my own contractors.

I'm using Clipsal switches for my whole house except for SCV points.Best part is no extra charge in choosing clipsal over normal switches. Total cost around $1600 - $1800.

Hi all,

my contractor just got us a package deal for our electrical work and not sure if it is expensive so need everyone expertises on it.

20 to 25 cove lighting points include the light tubes

3 downlight points

3 normal lights points

4 extra lights points for the kitchen cabinets

rewired 3 power points in the kitchen.

all the above cost $1250.

Do you think this is reasonable?

Thanks everyone in advance

Hi folks,

Here's my quote from the ID's electrican. My new 5-rm flat already got switches and concealed wiring, so mainly incur cost on the new lighting points and some new and shifting of switches.

install PLC lighting points $35 x 6

install halogen downlights $35 x 13

install pendent light $50 x 1

install ceiling lighting points $30 x 2

install fluorescent tube lighting points $35 x 6

install light fittings $10 x 36

install hob and hood point $80 x 2

install single 13A point $40 x 1

install dimmer point $30 x 2

install 2-way switches point $30 x 2

shift SCV points $60 x 3

shift telephone point $50 x 1

shift single 13A point $30 x 2

shift double 13A point $35 x 2

install doorbell $20 x 1

install 15A point for aircon $180 x 1

labor to run surround speaker wiring (cable excluded) $100

total damage = $2325

Think this quote is to the high side if compared to the electricians outside. But on the other hand saves us the trouble looking for another reliable electrician and also the coordination and warranty considerations.
