Here are the photos of the loft at my parent's place (it's a bit messy though, used to be my room but now serves as a nap area for my boy). It was built around year 2000 and is still very sturdy now. It's large enough to place one single mattress and one super single mattress on the floor of the loft. Didn't manage to measure the highest point in the loft but I can stand up straight somewhere in the middle (before it slopes too low) and I'm 1.65m. I have shelving on the other side of the loft wall (opposite the windows). There is a casement aircon for the loft too so we have a curtain to keep the cool air in.

Hi, I am interested in building a loft. If you still have the contractor information, can kindly share with me their contacts?

Would also appreciate any advise or things to look out for when building a loft.

Thank you. :)

How would BCA know if you add a new floor within one year of TOP?

What if you are never around (because of work) if they want to come and inspect?

How much is BCA application and how does is it calculated? Reason i am asking is if all i am looking to add is 200 sq ft and not 1,000 sq ft, do i pay the same?

How long does the process take?

Our designers build 2 large beautiful loft areas in our home!  No small feat as we eventually also decided to change the roof tiles and increase the original ceiling height.

All said and done, after many meetings for materials and oak floor colour selections (i am sooo picky!), I got my dream 2nd-3rd storey feel.  I highly recommended everyone to go for introducing loft spaces into their homes if you are able to.

It really gave us extra living areas for my hubby's private office and kid's reading area.

You can find pictures of my house on my other posts.
