Installation Of Wall Mounted Mixers

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Our Main Con has engaged his subcons to install all our plumbing stuff. After all the installation/piping has been done, we noticed that the mixers for Rain shower, bath tub and even bidet on/off valve has been installed with visble excess threading material - ie instead of the mixer being flushed, we can see an excess of approximately 3-5cm of the threads of the mixer.

The main con told us that this is the way the manufacturer made the the mixers but he offered us 2 solutions:

1. Adding spacer between to "conceal" the threads

2. Saw off the excess and re-install

However he mention that sawing off the excess is risky and he will not guarantee against the worksmanship when reinstalling if it'll be uneven or if leaks were to occur.

Personally i find his explanation ludicrous and i would think that all manufacturers of the mixers would intentionally create excess threading so that the plumbers can saw off the excess to suit their installation.

However i did not want to jump into and wanted all your opinions about it.

Can anyone be sure how it is really supposed to be done?

Many thanks in advance!
