False Staircase As Storage Space

I need a place to store the unsightly mahjong table and chairs but unfortunately my new house do not come with any store room. I’m thinking of building a false stairway in the main hall against the wall, and the bottom part will be the storage space.

However, my main problem is that the space which I'm going to allocate is not big. This space was used previously by the ex-owner to place their alter, so do you think it is too small for my false stairway cum storage for the mahjong table?

Anyone had done false stairway before? And any ideas how much it cost to build one? Will any contractor willing to pick up this small project, or do I have to DIY?

Otherwise, I'm thinking to buy a cabint instead, but it will be kinda weird and out of place.
