Hey Wenx!

your eldest son's pri school is Shuqun Primary or Rulang Primary?

and also like what bro Kobelala & Soichiro said, laundry hanging is quite a headache... wife not very keen on hanging laundry outside the kitchen windows... and space for indoor air-drying also tricky... may have to resort to use balcony (which I'm not very keen... :()

Just to share, if you have space, you can use a dryer, although it would be costlier to buy as well as to run. The perks are that machine dried clothes are nice and fluffy and is not weather-dependent.

The alternative is that you buy a collapsible laundry rack (which I have and store in the storeroom when not in use). Given you're not keen on using the balcony for laundry, I guess you may need to find a space to store a dryer. In my case, I had no place in my kitchen for said dryer, hence the laundry rack method.

Hey Sis Marshy, I studied in Rulang for a few weeks during P1, as it was a Chinese School then (more than 20 over yrs back), my mum then transferred me to Merlimau Primary ;)

LOL i'd prefer Chinese primary school... but anyway think Rulang too far for me to try (just at 2km i think). there's always Jurong Primary School that is just 200m from my home..... ;)

:bangwall:

this morning, i received a SMS from my contractor, asking me what's the dimensions of my fridge.

i've clearly passed him a copy for his reference earlier, and was surprised by his question.

anyway, i texted him, after i've checked my copy.

during lunch, went over to my place to check the work-in-progress. not much done, but they are clearing the debris.

so it was very dusty, and I left without staying more than 5 min.

feeling bored with my exam revision, i cycled over just now to look-see again, and to label the WCs & basins I've bought.

so i went to measure my fridge base too... coz his question this morning still lingered in my mind...

btw, my fridge dimensions are 740mm x 1795mm x 710mm (width, height, depth)

on his kitchen perspective diagram, he has indicated that the fridge base was to be 900mm x 760mm, as I wanted to cater for some allowance to shift the fridge in and also for cooling purposes.

and i measured the thing... true enough... instead of 900mm (width) x 760mm (depth), it was 760mm (width) x 900mm (depth).

:bangwall:

no wonder my mum has been commenting that the fridge base seems to be protruding quite a bit... and in fact, last sat, while doing the electrical marking for the kitchen, my contractor was still marking out 900mm for the fridge area, which obviously doesn't tally with the base...

called him up just now... i got a feeling he knew abt it... anyway, he said, he will be sending his tiler down to do the amendments... i just hope it won't screw things up more...

i think 760mm (width) x 900mm (depth) is really not acceptable...

there's going to be too much wasted depth and it's eating into the walking space... and yet, the fingers probably won't be able to fit in the sides, to shift out the fridge next time... besides, one side of the fridge will be boxed up (due to the sewage pipes)...

oh well...

You know what I did? I didn't do base for the fridge. Then I can change whatever size fridge I want in the future without worrying Abt the base.

i also no fridge base cos dun wanna constrain the fridge size in future.

anyway, 760mm for a 740mm width fridge definitely cannot. clearance not enough for the door to open.

Yup that's my reason too. Don't way to limit the fridge size for future.

I don't have a fridge base either. Don't see the point as we are not the type to flood clean the kitchen, it costs to make the base and it indeed governs any future purchase decisions. Didn't want to do it for my cabinet bases either but the contractor didn't feel comfortable so I figured that since I needed a kickpanel for the cabinets this would serve the purpose so went ahead. No base for my washer and dryer either

Cheers

And I'll resume my updates tmr... Lots of things to update on... Some have been briefly discussed here already...

Same here, told my contractor that fridge base is irrelevant for me. However am still contrained by size of fridge in the future as along the wall where fridge will be,there are two floor to ceiling units for storage.
