those tiny bug, what color?

The ones that I saw in my place last time (feeding off mould) were light brown in colour when small, then the bigger ones are dark brown / black.

Size wise about 0.5mm for the small ones, big ones about 1mm. Really test your eyesight...

They don't grow very big, just fatter, rounder and darker!

From the internets :3

They look creepy when blown up don't they? That's actually why I'm so bent on exterminating them from my house.. the thought of those critters crawling all over me gives me the shivers.

You can repaint the wall, but it won't remove the bugs. You need to get rid of the source of water seepage so that NO MORE MOULD grows anywhere (in my case, it was mould on the walls).

Insecticide won't kill them all. They'll come back - insecticide resistant, and even tougher!

The bugs don't stain the wall, they just look like specks on the walls. Initially they are translucent but I notice as they grow older, they turn brown/black and look like tiny dots all over your wall. Very disgusting, and they can jump a few inches!!

Any painter should be able to remove existing paint and repaint again.

You'll just need to pay extra for the labour involved coz they literally need to use sandpaper to remove the existing coat of paint, then apply 2 coats of sealant, and then paint over it again with anti mould paint. That was done for my place (master bedroom).

I've been using a pyrethroid-based powder insecticide in my house, it seems to have been effective at keeping the booklice out and dead. You can get it at Home DIYs.

To get rid of them, however, I had to dust all the cupboards, inside cabinets, on surfaces with the powder and either not cook for 2 weeks or wash everything thoroughly and re-dust the areas thereafter. Essentially dust every single area in the kitchen with it, because it's likely they're coming from the plaster or from outside.

we used those powder ants poison last time and these small insects were gone. but we ran out of the ants poison so didn't put for the past 2 months or so. now they're back! :bangwall:

i will try the powder out again... maybe a differnt brand this time? hahaha

I don't have any recommended painter. I did my reno with a contractor and the painter was supplied by them. If you would like to have the contractor's contact, it's actually Tiler Seng from the RT forum. You can find his thread here and PM him.

If you got no problems with water seepage etc, no need to use sealant lah.

Specks means little dots on the wall. The bugs look like little dots on the wall, especially if your house walls are all painted in light colour (e.g. white).

Hi,

I have bought a writing table last Jan. Only recently, I discovered underneath the table - full of moulds.

Any advise how to clear the moulds?

Heard that thinner can clear the mould? Is it okay to use that?

Thank you.

My 5 room unit comes with a balcony which I tear it down to make the living room look bigger. However, the balcony comes with a pipe near to the window. Hence, during the renovation, my ID recommend me to use box up to cover the pipe so that the pipe will not stick out like a sore thumb.

I realised that the bugs come mostly from the box up area as they like to stick to the box up. The rest of my house also got these bugs though not as much as the box up area. They did not bother me much. Only that every few days, i have to use vacuum cleaner to suck all the bugs.

Is there a possibility that due to the fact that inside the box up, there is piping ie water n moisture that's y the bugs are attracted?
