A 9mths Reno Journey

Recommended Posts

Aiyah....saw this too late... I'm currently using this brand http://www.optiled.com/AboutUs.aspx and I think it's from china... Hope that it's good:)

Not all china stuffs are that bad....just depend on how the company do their QC only (different standard). Maybe is was due to my experience with those cheap china light bulbs (maybe bad luck :P). I have 1 house owner brought lighting from lightings.com.sg...less than a mth, 6 light bulb blown and at different times. So imagine I went down to lightings.com.sg to change it :bangwall: moreover they are from philips but made in china. Come to a point that I was so fed up and buy the bulbs at nearby electrical shop, same from philips but made in Holland. But the rest of the light bulbs from china is ok, so it boil down to the QC standard and luck.

Hi jaskel, really surprised that you sold your florida condo n moved to another house within such a short time.

I went to your condo the last time you had open house, it was really nice, I thought you planned to stay there for a long time, hence, threw in a big sum for reno.

Nevertheless, your current flat is also very nicely done up, great job mate :good:

How is your dad? Hope he is doing well. I had a nice chat with him the last time I visited your place.

Hey Jaskel,

Wow, your place looks awesome. Especially the LED in in the solid surface - I remember you telling us about it when we were doing our kitchen! :good: Love the designs in your false ceiling too.. funky man! Can't wait to see the real thing ;)

Just back from HK....saw that RT going thru some upgrading works and some of the posts when missing... :dunno: Also try to post using iphone but seem like unable to do that too as compare to b4 the upgrading.

Anyway, went to HK see some of the designers' works and was quite impress with some of the works. And basically, using LED strips there is so common, shops, signage boards, umbrella, etc....

hihi jaskel sorry for hijacking other ppl's blog paiseh paiseh..thks for enlightening me ! :) so sorry that i need to tap on your professional advice here..dont. :fire::fire: me k...paiseh paiseh cause after so many months i know you are :good::good: even before i know you are in this line too =X

Try to use the "same family" series of the wood laminate if u intent to use 2 laminates for both as both of the

woodgrain are the same so its more smoothing to look at rather than become complicated and confusing. :yamseng:

you were saying 'same family' as in all from Lamchua or all from EDL ? Or you were referring to all from the same page within 1 vendor ..coz i realised in the catalogue they have different categorisation like 'dark naturals' ...'light naturals' something like that or "reflective gloss"

Np...not only u, my other hse owners @ Pinnacle brought from lighting.com.sg also had this issues...light bulbs burst...but not all of them is like that, so its still boils down to the QC..

What I'm referring to is, eg, for shoe cabinet, if using 2 wood laminates, try to use the same vendor such as EDL, E-series. Do not mix it with 1 E-series, the other V-series as both woodgrain the running grain pattern is different.

If you will to go to titanax t-blog (a good example of using lighter wood), U will see that most of the wood laminate are using a softer and lighter colour, using a darker colour wood laminate as the carcase is to contrast and bring out the whole feature. U need to let your hubby understand that there need a contrast of colours to bring out the whole design. For eg, for a all white hse, they use dark furniture to contrast the whole theme and design. :yamseng:

hihi jaskel well understood hehehe usually its just black and 1 type of woodgrain for each pc of furniture..just that the black may be glossy or lined black and the woodgrain i use across varieties from with 1 catalogue..but now you got me thinking abt the woodgrains..should i stick with 1 series of woodgrains but diff tones to get a more uniform look (in terms of the lines/grains outcome) or will that just make it look too boring....:unsure: from what i see you've done a mix and match and da*n..its well done!! the overall effect is :good::good::good:
